Prevention is the key🗝️ to management of dental and gum disease in our pets. We wanna keep those chompers pearly white and in supreme condition to chronch those tasty treats. 🦴

The gold standard is daily brushing but there are many products that have the VOHC (Veterinary Oral Health Council) seal 🎖️of approval that have been tested and proven to make a difference.

Today we got to see Jerry for the 2nd time. We recently got to meet him after he decided to make a snack out of a Hyacinth bulb. 🌱🤔

Sadly, Jerry was a victim of hurricane Helene and was found in the Swannona River with severe injuries.🤕 After spending time at waiting for his old family to come searching for him (to no avail) he was finally adopted out to his new family. Jerry is now living his best life and is full of personality! We are so glad jolly Jerry has joined the pinnacle family!🧑‍🧑‍🧒

Fellow cat owners, this is a message for you! 🐱We are recommending Mr. Bigglesworth stay inside despite looking like a majestic lynx while standing on a fallen tree.🌳

They have found 8 deceased birds at Lake Julian park located directly behind our office. One of those birds has received a preliminary positive test for Avian Flu (H5N1).🤢

The safest thing right now is to keep your cats indoors and to not feed raw diets or unpasteurized/raw milk. According to Cornell Feline Health center “even if their raw food is human grade, frozen, or freeze dried it does not prevent the spread of pathogenic bacteria, parasites, or H5N1 that maybe present in the food”.

Signs of bird flu in cats is loss of appetite, lethargy, fever, neurologic signs, and difficulty breathing. 🤒

We will do our best to keep you updated with the latest information. However, given that the CDC is no longer able to report we do not have the most recent information regarding zoonotic disease outbreaks. 🦠

It’s Nico! She is a sweet young pup “whose only wish is to be carried away in a riptide of cheese🌊”. (But honestly whose isn’t?🧀)

She was recently adopted and just had a DNA test done showing us she is 93% Siberian Husky! She came in today to discuss a limp and get her vaccines boostered! She was a bit nervous for the pokes so we took a quick break and investigated the hospital, ran up and down the hall a few times, sang some silly songs, and obviously, ate some cheese. 😋She felt much better after these distractions and took her second vaccine like a champ!

It’s the one and only walking cucumber! Also known as the Cucumber Spaniel of Pinnacle! 🥒

This is Winnie and she is a Clumber Spaniel. (Aka. Cucumber Spaniel). She got that nickname as a puppy back in 2020 when we first started seeing her and we have called her that ever since! Luckily, neither her mom nor Winnie seem to mind her being referred to as a tasty fruit. She is a sweet girl that is always nervous when she comes to see us but we will keep trying to win her over! 😘

Well, butter my backside and call me biscuit! I do believe we have met a rare cat-bear! 🐱🐻

Honestly, we can’t handle how magical 🦄and cuddly Binx looks in his little sweater. If we could have we would have swaddled him and carried him around all day. He was a trooper for our excessive “oohing and awing” -granted his face indicated he wasn’t amused.

Yesterday we got to see sweet Nantahala for the second time. Yes, we are counting. WE LOVE this sweet girl. 👧🏼

She came in for her second set of vaccines💉 yesterday and was such a brave girl! She will come back one more time in 3-4 weeks for her last set and then she will be set for the rest of the year!

Even if she is done with her vaccines we hope she comes to visit us on a regular basis so we can get some sweet puppy snuggles in! 🫂

Meet Fig🐇

This is Fig. She is a spunky, SWEET, high energy, loving, silly, high jumping, pet friendly, kid friendly gal! She is under a year old (we think around 10 months). She is also spayed.

Words from her foster mom:

"She for sure needs to be free roam since she's full of life! She also needs a lot of stimulation. She would do really well bonded with another bun!!

I have two cats and she already started playing with my youngest girl who is one. They run around the house together. Fig enjoys romaine lettuce, cilantro, pellets and of course the occasional treat. She can sniff them out a mile away. Also, this girl can hop very high like I mentioned above. She uses the cat tower and goes to the top! It is 5 feet tall!

She does enjoy the occasional spicy hay so a bun friendly home is a must. Also, no low plants or she will enjoy them as a tasty salad. Fig deserves a home where she can get a lot of attention and love. She is so sweet! She loves getting some good pets and head kisses! If you’re chilling in the living room watching tv she will flop on the floor and chill in there with you.

Fig is high energy but also a lot of personality and character will bring so much enjoyment to your house.

Today we got to meet King Bun👑 He came in to get established as a patient with Dr. McMullan. He was found 8 years ago when his mom noticed a hawk 🦅outside. She went out to round up her chickens and noticed King Bun huddled with them! 🐓🐇

King Bun now lives a luxury life indoors. He enjoys spending time at his Grandma’s house👵🏻 Thanks for visiting us today King Bun!

Katie offers a variety of performance options from story time, to dancing Soulja Boy, to *attempting* to rap the newest top hit! Above she is doing her version of Gasolina by Daddy Yankee to the point of exhaustion. Does your pet have performance preference? Make sure to let the tech know!🩰🎤

All joking a side, we do try to make stressful things as stress free as possible. Whether it’s intense head petting, multiple people feeding a variety of treats, or in extreme cases dancing for the patient, we do what we can to make sure your pet has the best visit possible.

Happy New Years Eve from Itchy the leopard gecko! She has a few resolutions she would like to share with you!!🎉

1. Explore new terrain! “ I’ll boldly adventure to the far corners of my tank that I’ve never explored before!” 🥾
2. Climb higher! “ I’ll conquer the top of my hide that I’ve been avoiding and enjoy the view from the top!🧗
3. Catch more roaches! “No roach shall escape my lighting fast reflexes”🪳

Today is Sam’s last day with us.😩 We are truly bummed about losing a major asset of our team. However, Sam has been accepted into vet school at (Lincoln Memorial University) and for that we are ECSTATIC. 📚She and her husband (she got married last month! 🎉) will be moving to TN shortly and starting their new adventure! Sam, we will miss you so much, but SO EXCITED for you and your future!

P.s. We can’t wait for you to come back and work for us in a few short years when you get your DVM license. 😉

HOW ABOUT Is your pet straining to urinate? 🟡 Or how about having cloudy, bloody, or discolored urine? Maybe frequent urination in small amounts? Your pet MAY have bladder stones!

Happy Pancreatitis day! (This isn’t actually a real thing but it SHOULD be.)Animal hospitals see the most cases of pancreatitis the day after Thanksgiving! 🦃This is because many pets are fed fatty foods and table scraps, or they counter surf and help themselves to what they please. 🥗🍗🥧 Pancreatitis isn’t exactly the diagnosis for Missy but it’s a similar situation! Missy here enjoyed a tasty square of dark chocolate 🍫. Chocolate consumption is also a very common problem around the holidays. Luckily, Missy’s owners were able to get her to us in a reasonable amount of time so we could make her vomit. In the video above Katie D is placing Clevor drops in both of her eyes, which induces vomiting. Within 10 minutes she had vomited up lots of undigested food and the chocolate! Sorry you had to go through all of that Missy but we hope you enjoyed your brief and hopefully ONLY taste of Chocolate.

Happy Hamster Day! We love this day because we get to appreciate our tiny fuzzy friends! 🐹If you have a hamster, we hope you share extra snacks with them today! We know losing a pet is the same as losing a member of your family. We understand it’s a very difficult time and we do our best to make honorable memorabilia for you to take home. About a year or so ago we started collecting used vaccine vials, cleaning them, and placing a clipping of your pets fur in the bottle. We send this home with your pets paw print if you choose to request this. It is at no extra charge to you. If you have a reptile we can sometimes use shed skin or if you have a hedgehog we can use quills. #petmemorabilia #reuse #vaccinevials
