It’s that time of year again—our annual reminder of what you should and should not feed your pets on Thanksgiving! 🦃🐾

Animal hospitals are always hopping the day after Thanksgiving and Christmas with pancreatitis cases, and we definitely don’t want you to have to spend your precious family time with us.

🚫 DON’T feed your pets:
• Raw meats
• Turkey skin
• Bones
• Stuffing
• Mashed potatoes
• Garlic or onions
• Chocolate or candy
• Grapes or raisins
• Any overly fatty foods

DO (small nibbles):
• Unseasoned turkey
• Pumpkin or apple slices
• Raw green beans
• Sweet potatoes

Yesterday our staff attended CPR training with the amazing Jacque from SAVES! We spent an hour and a half learning the most up-to-date CPR techniques, practicing compressions, and running mock codes on a dog dummy, Daisy.

We also discovered that Golden from K-Pop Demon Hunters and Pink Pony Club by Chappell Roan have the perfect CPR beat. So yes, our team was absolutely singing Pink Pony Club while taking turns perfecting our skills.

Yes yes, we know was in town this weekend! 🦎✨

We always recommend fully setting up your new pet’s home and researching all of their needs before bringing a new family member home.

If you DID bring home a new scaly friend, this is your reminder that reptiles need yearly exams and routine fecals too! 💩

If this is your first time owning a particular species, it’s always a great idea to review proper husbandry with your vet or vet tech. Keeping up with correct humidity, heat, supplements, diet, and substrate is key to keeping these cool animals happy and healthy!

Ferret Play Day at work!

Today treated us to lunch with an awesome food truck! We enjoyed some delicious BBQ all the way from Spartanburg, SC. Check out if you get the chance! BI makes most of the vaccines and preventatives that help keep our dogs healthy. 🐶🍴

We don’t see birds at Pinnacle, but we will make an exception for a kitten in a bird cage.🐱🐦 Meet the adorable 6-week-old Pumpkin. His owner spotted a lady on the side of the road holding a “free kittens” sign and just couldn’t pass up this little guy. Dr. McMullan loved giving him some scratches, and we’re happy to report that Pumpkin looks to be in great health! 🧡

Today Dr. McMullan saw sweet Mabel the Bernedoodle! She’s been a little lethargic over the past couple of weeks, so we’re sending off some lab work to make sure everything looks good. Mabel enjoyed lots of love and pets from our staff today — and her dad let us know she absolutely cannot handle it when her dog walker runs late! 🦮

Today Dr. J got to see sweet Bilbo! 💛
He came in for a small mass that’s been growing over the past few months. Dr. J took a sample and checked it under the microscope, and unfortunately, it turned out to be a mast cell tumor. That means Bilbo will need to have it removed.

We went ahead and pulled blood to run pre-anesthetic labwork to make sure he’s healthy and ready for surgery. We’re looking forward to seeing him back soon — though we wish it were under different circumstances!

In the meantime, let’s fill the comments with compliments for brave Bilbo. 💕

Happy National Cat Day! 🐈‍⬛

This is sweet Sapphire! She came in today for her FeLV booster — not exactly how she planned to spend National Cat Day, but we’re making it as fun as possible for her! She’s got plenty of toys in her cage and we’re offering her a variety of treats to make up for it.

We love our feline friends and think every cat deserves to feel special today! Try celebrating with your kitty by picking up a new toy to stimulate their curious mind, building a cardboard box fort, or simply giving them a few extra cuddles and treats.
