If anyone recognizes these pups, they were running up and down South Commerce. They did not have any name tags or microchips. We had animal control pick them up and take them to the shelter where they will be safe and warm!

Wishing everyone a safe and Merry Christmas! Our office will be closed Tuesday the 24th and Wednesday the 25th. We will resume normal business hours on Thursday. If you are needing medications refilled please call ahead so we will have adequate time to get those ready. Have a wonderful holiday!

Happy Friday! With Thanksgiving next week our normal business days will vary. We will be open Monday the 25th - Wednesday the 27th. We will be closed Thursday the 28th - Sunday the 1st. If you are needing medication refilled please call in advance so our staff has adequate time to fill those.

Friendly reminder, with all the tasty foods associated with the holiday they are not always best for our pets. Refrain from feeding scraps or bones to your pet. This can cause an upset stomach or worse! We hope you have a blessed and safe holiday this coming week!

It’s vet tech/assistant week! These hardworking individuals are the backbone of the clinic. From assisting in surgery, helping in exams, working the pharmacy, preforming X-rays, comforting patients, being your fur baby’s best friend, and so much more. They truly do it all. It’s hard work, mentally and physically. Its not just a job, but a calling and a passion. So if you see a tech or an assistant, give them extra love this week! Job Posting: Veterinary Kennel Assistant (Full-Time)
We are seeking a reliable and self-motivated Veterinary Kennel Assistant to join our team. This position involves assisting with the care of animals and maintaining a clean, safe environment for them. Ideal candidates should have a strong work ethic and a love for animals.
Responsibilities:
• Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, and common areas
• Feed, water, and care for animals under supervision
• Assist with handling and moving animals
• Monitor animal behavior and report concerns to veterinary staff
• General cleaning of the clinic and animal areas
• Maintain accurate records of animal care
Requirements:
• Must be comfortable working with animals of all sizes
• Ability to work weekends and holidays as needed

A 70 Year Legacy

In the spring 2014 edition of OVMA Communique, in his article of the same title, we learn from John L. Myers, DVM, "Practice ownership and practice survival depend upon both clinical and economic expertise." Dr. Myers gives us a brief summary of the evolution of ownership of Ardmore Animal Hospital since its founding by Joseph Walker, a Texas A&M graduate, on April 1, 1947. Dr. Myers lauds "positive and beneficial associations" as keys to our clinic's longevity.

So, we have celebrated 70 years in operation! And it is by the care and tenacity of those who've preceded that the foundation has been well laid, relationships nurtured, as now the practice is well poised to continue its unique capacity to endure. Perhaps it's no surprise that we were voted, again, to be the first place winner, as "Favorite Animal Hospital," in the 2015 Readers Choice Awards, of The Ardmoreite, our hometown newspaper.

During the first twenty five years of operation, Dr. Joseph Walker handed over the reins to Dr. James Vernon. In 1974 the practice was purchased by Dr. Bill Barrett, an Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine graduate. Five years later in 1979, Dr. Lawrence McTague, a graduate of Oklahoma State University Veterinary School, joined Dr. Barrett as equal partner. Dr. McTague and Dr. Barrett built a new facility in which to finish out the twentieth century.

After 19 years as partners, Dr. McTague became sole owner of the practice in 1999. Under his caring and careful eye, by hiring full-time associates, also OSUVS graduates, Dr. Chris Williams and Dr. Tyla Yauk, and by also maintaining associations with Drs. Gary Woulfe, and Doug Nightingale, Dr. McTague and team have continued to serve the community from AAH's multi-animal practice for yet another 15+ years.
