Fall Armyworms have invaded Northspoon. Late summer rains and subsequent grass growth created ideal conditions for these caterpillars to thrive. They live a short life, but they can cause severe damage to crops and forages.

Late summer rains have really made the pastures look nice.

Oh what a bittersweet evening, we said goodbye to our sweet Kacee girl tonight. She was the first horse born on the property at North Spoon Ranch 34 years ago. James rode her when he was younger and he rode her when I brought Trace to the farm. She kept my old boy company for years before we lost him. Her kids, Honey and Cody, along with Finn gave her a wonderful "12 hoof salute" gallop around the field as she slipped away from us. James, Diana Warner, the boys and I stayed with her brushing and petting her letting her know how much she was loved. Oh Kacee, you were a pain and a joy and you made the farm complete. Your greetings every morning and your nose nudges in my back will be missed. Your constant attempts to be in places you didn't belong won't be as missed. Join your lost friends recent and old, Becca (the sheep), ET (the goat), Trace (my sweet boy), and many more in Heaven. We'll see you in the future baby girl.
