Texas OES Rescue's newest hopeful project - Tim!!

And TXOESR loves this sweet little guy!

Tim is a 60 lbs. 9-month-old male TXOESR pulled from the Denton, TX shelter just before New Years Eve. TXOESR had him neutered the day he was removed. Because TXOESR could not locate a foster, he was placed in a boarding facility for the next 3 days. Unfortunately, his care wasn’t the best.

This past weekend, Tim was moved to a better facility with trained dog handlers – Proven K9 Training DFW. Their feedback has given us some insight into his behaviors. He is an extremely anxious, very high energy puppy, has not had any positive training experiences and surely not given ongoing direction, correction, safety and love. He loves nibbling (not biting).

The feedback from trainers has been positive as TXOESR continues to get regular feedback. The expectation for the next 4 weeks of board and train are: 2 weeks of working with onsite trainers on behaviors and socialization followed by 2 weeks training with TXOESR staff and potential foster / adopter.

This training is expensive but well worth it to rescue Tim. His future forever family will have free training for life for Tim as well as discounts on boarding Tim at their facility.

I don't have a lot of information right now, but Quigley's foster just informed us that Quigley passed away in the past hour.

We suspect his heart just gave out - but when we know more we will share.

Thank you to all those who donated already - it will help cover his original treatments and 1st cardiologist visit.

Thank you - say a little prayer for Quigley tonight as he passes over the rainbow bridge.

***** TXOESR Medical Donations for Quigley *****

Quigley, a 4-year-old OES weighing 35 lbs., entered Texas OES Rescue as a transfer from another shelter in late September 2024. He was a mess! And his initial care included vaccinations and severe grooming needs. But after being shaved, we saw Quigley was very emaciated. He had been diagnosed with a grade V/VI heart murmur. The vet, which TXOESR has been working with, prescribed medications followed up by a cardiologist visit which occurred on December 31, 2024.

At the initial consultation with the cardiologist, tests and x-rays were performed to help diagnose what was causing Quigley’s heart issues. Unfortunately, the prognosis was not very good. The cardiologist’s initial take is he is suffering from congestive heart failure or has fluid on his lungs. Medications were prescribed to treat the fluid buildup on the lungs over the next 3 weeks. A follow-up appointment is scheduled for late January 2025 to determine if there was improvement in his condition and determine next steps.

With congestive heart failure, his life span is around 18 months – with proper care. If fluid buildup in the lungs is the issue, a different treatment will be required.

Either way, medications will be a part of Quigley’s life from here on out. And TXOESR will be looking for a permanent foster for Quigley. TXOESR will help with medication expenses and follow-up vet appointments for the foreseeable future for Quigley.

So here is where you can help…

Quigley’s cardiologist appointments are $1,500 for each --- total $3,000.

1st Vet visit & EKGs ---$500.

His medications for November 2024 through January 2025 - approximately $500.

Until his final diagnosis, his monthly medication expenses are not clearly known.

TXOESR is looking for donations to cover most all these expenses – as we still have several OES rescues receiving heartworm treatment and spay / neuters on other OES rescues being surrendered.

CJ is available for adoption!!

CJ is a 3-yer-old male not yet neutered. He is crate trained and good on a leash. He is housebroken but has had a few accidents. He is crated when alone in the house. Good with people. Good with teens – and probably younger. Has never shown aggression towards people or dogs. Knows basic commands and responds. TXOESR will make sure CJ is groomed, microchipped, neutered and current on all vaccines.

CJ loves car rides. CJ plays well with other dogs – loves to play hard and needs to be told when to stop. He should not be around farm animals – he chases goats and chickens. Not sure about cats.
His family wants the best family for him – only issue was his fixation on the livestock.

TXOESR - Urgent Need - Search for Fosters in Texas!

It’s a new year and the foster need is greater than ever due to all the recent Owner Surrender OES rescues….

Fosters Needed Immediately!!

Below is a list of all the new OES rescues surrendered to Texas OES Rescue since the holidays! TXOESR is in dire need of fosters to provide a safe, loving temporary home for these wonderful dogs. Each rescue is different in needs and personality, and the duration of the foster’s commitment will vary as well. Hopefully these surrendered pups will find loving forever homes quickly!

Groom, spay/neuter, other veterinary needs will be covered by TXOESR when the foster coordinates in advance with our Medical Director – Stephanie Crider. TXOESR is still waiting on pictures of many of these pups.

Fortunately, TXOESR has found a foster for Tim as of 1/6/2025. He was a recent Foster Need since 1/1/2025. He is a sweet little male – neutered – needs grooming – current on vaccinations – needs love, care and training – trust building – he’s a nibbler – so definitely no young children. He and the others are available for adoption as soon as TXOESR schedules the proper veterinary care, microchip, spay / neuter and grooming.

Just waiting for their new forever families!!

These beautiful OES rescues are anxiously waiting by their foster’s Christmas trees, wishing for their new forever families. 🎅

Gabby is a 7-year-old female rescued from a breeder. She is a sweet and gentle people pleaser. Microchipped, spayed and current on vaccines.

Birdie is a 2 ½ year-old female abandoned with her litter in March 2024. She weighs 50 pounds. She is good with other dogs, both big and small and kids. She is house trained and does okay in the crate- it’s not her favorite but that’s understandable since I bet she was locked in crate most of her prior life. She would do best in a home with someone around often or someone that wants a dog to come with them because being around her people is a must. She loves a routine, more than any dog I’ve had before and getting her out of it throws her day, so someone that is consistent will be key. She does great on a leash and loves walks. She is genuinely the sweetest girl and very low maintenance; we love her dearly!!! Microchipped, spayed and current on vaccines.

Delilah is 3 ½ year-old female rescued from a breeder. She is so sweet and will make a wonderful companion. She is slowly coming out of her shell, but this process will take some time. She will need a loving, quiet and very patient home to thrive. She is a beautiful girl. She is microchipped, spayed and current on vaccines.

Pumpkin is a 6-year-old female. She is a recent owner surrender because her family could no longer care for her. She has no health issues. She is great with kids. She enjoys going for walks and playing fetch but is just as content snuggling on the sofa for a movie. She was raised around other dogs but is a little unsure of the male Sheepadoodle in her foster home. This could be that she is still adjusting to all the changes. She is microchipped, spayed and current on vaccines.

Dugan is a 6-year-old male. He is an owner surrender located in El Paso, TX. The family was just not able to spend time to train and cope with behavior issues. So, Dugan needs a loving family to spend time exercising and training this guy to provide him with a safe and secure environment. TXOESR needs to confirm the neuter, microchip and vaccines status.

Thanks to all you who came out yesterday to the 2024 TXOESR Annual Picnic with the Alice in Wonderland Theme! It was so much fun and a BEAUTIFUL Day for OES (and honorary OES) to Gallup about the property and run and chase each other!! For those who couldn’t make it - you were missed!
