Grooming clients! 👇

In the past I've been a huge fan of booking groom appointments six months to a year out! At some point I hope to get back to this trend, but since my mom's diagnosis our staffing needs have shifted and we tend to take things month to month more lately. (Boarding however...let us know asap even if you aren't sure on plans yet! We have been filling in quickly!) That being said, I've tried to stay on top of booking my grooming regulars but if you don't hear from me and your pup is looking shaggy please don't hesitate to reach out! Just a heads up we will be doing driveway repairs in Arkport next Monday the 24th! Part time (full time may be available over the next year to year and a half) position available! Our goals are grounded in fear free practices and creating an environment for both humans and canines that minimizes stress/maximizes best potential. 💙💙

We value time spent outdoors and structuring our time to each dog as an individual (as well as getting to know their guardians and working with them as a team to create the best care plan!). To the best of our ability, we work around employee schedules to be sure their needs outside of work are being met! Mental health and healthy habits are causes we champion so finding ways to support our team is very important to us. 💫💫

Candidate should be comfortable cleaning and cleaning up after dogs doing what dogs do, seeking further education on animal health/behavior (opportunities provided!), giving dogs basic grooms (will train!), and should be able to lift a heavy bag of dog food/help hold large senior dogs who may not be able stand on their own very long for a nail trim. 🐩🐩

We are filling in FAST, even for fall, winter, and major school breaks in 2025! (AND...we are looking at closing down our Arkport location for a week in October 2024 to upgrade flooring throughout the facility so now's the time to reach out!) 🐾🐾

It's never too early to book with us, and our cancellation policy is donation based! Funds go to Marshmallow Maddie Fund which assists housing dogs whose guardians are in need of emergency placement (instances like house fires, hospitalization etc). 🫶🫶

I had a tough time yesterday navigating Mother's Day.

Since her health challenges began and we got word of her cancer diagnosis, I've been launched into this whole new era of what it means to care for my mother while also
🫶being a mother
🫶managing this business that involves an immense deal of caregiving and memories of building it alongside my mother
🫶....and I am also still trying to find ways to mother myself on this journey.

I know I'm not alone, so for those of you who struggled yesterday because caregiving and mothering might not feel straightforward, I see you.

I hold space for you.

It's ok to not feel ok and to answer those who ask how it's going with something other than a half hearted, "I'm fine."

It's ok if your mother's day brought up feelings that were heavier than happy. 💜💜💜

Hey, it's Cassandra! My social media profiles had some suspicious activity while I was up in the hospital during my mom's cancer diagnosis. I reported the activity the best I could at the time but I guess it wasn't enough and now it appears my personal Facebook account doesn't even exist. If you spot any suspicious cloned profiles on Instagram or Facebook, or you get any odd messages PLEASE report it and let us know. For now Grand View Canine Care page is working. (Dennis was added as administrator years ago, thankfully.)

Also, if anyone is skilled enough to navigate social media situations like this please let us know. Hi View crew! Please read 🐾🐾

For those who haven't followed, my mom (Patricia, who founded the business with me and has been elemental since) came up to Strong ER Monday in acute renal failure after nearly two months of a downright medical puzzle fighting insurance and trying to advocate/get referrals. We finally got answers Wednesday morning. Not awesome answers (multiple myeloma), but we finally have a direction. She's in good spirits for the most part (Her breakdowns usually flow when she talks about the dogs she is missing!) walking the halls of the cancer center pretending her IV is a leashed dog. 😉😉

Thanks for your patience as we navigate such big shifts with the business schedule and with my childcare! We've been moving in the direction of allowing my parents to fully "retire" but now we seem thrust into it. Caring for your pups during this time lends to our strength. The only major impacts are that we have more limited hours for boarding, and we ask that PLEASE if you are feeling the least bit ill to please mask/abide by our outdoor pickup dropoff plans we've had in place since covid. We simply can't risk spreading disease to mom right now. 💪💪💪

Some of you have asked how you can help....gift cards for Aldi's, Wegmans, or gas have gone a long way. If your love language is hearty meals feel free to pm so we can set something up. Some of the staff and our family have specific dietary needs (dad has heart issues, I have gluten/dairy sensitivity etc). Flowers cannot be sent to cancer patients (fun fact I learned today!).💜💜💜

Cards can be sent to our Springwater mailing address. I'd also love to connect with others who have been on the myeloma journey, whether through being a caregiving rockstar or survivorship. I love creating community, even though the need born for this one isn't my favorite to date!💫💫🫶🫶

I'll end with gratitude since that leaves less room for fear and worry! Huge shout-outs to Shannon, Jenn, Mary, Courtney, Emily, and Steacey who have stepped up extra for us during this time. 👏👏👏

Last October when I celebrated a major physical and mental health milestone (a year alcohol free) I had a wild idea and felt this incredible need to create an affordable, accessible wellness event embodying mind, body, and spirit.

There are more and more of these popping up (which is amazing!) but I sought one that did not offer alcohol as an avenue for stress relief/relaxation. In fact, I wanted it to be one that celebrated how much deeper into health we can go by questioning how normalized the use of alcohol is in our society. I wanted one where sharing stories about the reality of alcohol use in our bodies/those we love was center for healing/connection. I wanted one that gave folks a chance to test out healthy tools they could integrate into their journeys.

I wasn't sure how this environment would play out and each picture that formed in my mind over the last six months shifted drastically, right up until the night before when we had to get creative because of Mother Nature! And honestly, it turned out more beautifully that I could have ever imagined. The safety and community that emerged throughout the day was honestly indescribable, and in many ways I am still in shock (in such a good way!).

I owe many thank yous, so this post is lengthy but I encourage you to please swing over and give these links that I post a "like" if this resonates with you at all! First and foremost I need to thank my husband Dennis for supporting me on this little adventure! Thank you for grounding me and encouraging me. My friend (and lovely Grand View employee!) Shannon also played a gigantic role in so much of the behind the scenes organization. I could not have done this without you two. Jennifer (another incredible employee!) and Emily (Grand View client and supporter!) stepped in on registration day and were magical as well.

I am full of gratitude for Molly at Camp Stella Maris for helping this dream come to fruition with the event space. Molly was also integral in helping me organize so much in the moments leading up to this!

Emily with May'd With Love helped encourage, promote, assemble swag bags, and set up a very lovely area at the event! The energy that her and Ryan with Making Waves Coaching had for the day was infused with positive vibes.

Marlies Guest Photography's talent captured many powerful moments throughout the day. I can't wait to see this photo series!

Loyal Learners Pet Services coordinated some very key players for us! Throughout the day instructors and attendees found ways to interact with canine visitors and it was so therapeutic.

Stacey M. Mrva set up as a vendor at the event. The sober-safe creativity she is bringing to Springwater and beyond is next level. Thank you for being an amazing human and helping with setup too!

Monica Jarzyna offered me a lot of encouragement and then brought 12-step yoga the day of the event! She partnered with Carrie Ruffner Body Balance LLC to bring a very important and scientifically proven element of healing to the day, meditation. Ritz Mountain Yoga rounded out the element of movement for the day with a yoga circle!

Maple City Music Therapy infused the beauty and power of music into the morning. Her offerings brought many of us to tears, in a good way!

Main Street Health & Wellness had some well talked about services throughout the day! Dansville Acupuncture Center gave so many the wonderful opportunity to try out acupuncture, and Fika Wellness wove in some very important (and fun!) classes about gut health/nutrition.

Lega-C Healing by Jackie led some reiki sessions and a red tent alongside HER redefined (Be sure to check out Red Tent Sisterhood of Upstate NY!) The reiki sessions were so popular in a poll we put out that Wildly Rooted Rose ended up joining us for the day too! I am honored that attendees were able to experience these gifts and tap into their higher potential.

I am so very grateful that two other vendors passionate about sharing their sobriety stories were able to attend! Strong Roots Coaching Solutions and Kathy Mincer (Young Living Essential Oils) are lovely humans to chat with. (They both actually have books out which I will link in comments too!)

Mindful Sips brought a very fun and educational twist to us! The non-alcoholic beverage space is booming, and Sandy is leading the way in the area. She will help you navigate and create healthier drink rituals!

Last but certainly not least, licensed psychotherapist Rachel Louise (Warrior Soul) travelled out to join us. I'll add her links in comments as she is in the process of growing what I know will be a much needed business and doesn't have a page for it yet. She helped companion attendees throughout the day via plant medicine and countless other delightful/empowering ways!

It's been a bit since I've posted. 👋👋
The last two months we have navigated some big shifts, and the last week has felt oh, so heavy at times. 💙🩵
I'm still finding words for most of it (There's a lot.) but the one thing I feel ready to share is that yesterday we said farewell to Max. 💔
Max was my grandparents' dog, so he was around sixteen years old. We were never really sure because he was a rescue from The Spca In Cattaraugus County where my brother and sister in law volunteered a few times when they lived in the area. Max was found in the median of a busy road and never claimed. He cruised from that highway in to my grandparents' life until my grandfather passed away of cancer and my grandmother entered a living setup suited to assist with her dementia. Max then lived out his days with my parents, and most of them were spent cuddled either in the bed with or on the lap of my dad, who he surprisingly bonded most with. 🫶🫶
Much like the eclipse, our family is experiencing some darkness. And just when you think the darkness has set in, it gets darker. 🌝🌚🌞
It's powerful and it's scary and it's beautiful. We are holding space for all of these things to be possible at the same time. We are holding space for the exciting possibilities these changes are opening up for us, and the incredible things they are reminding us of. We are clinging to knowing the light will return. Just like nature, there's a magic like realm that carries on in the darkness. Peepers sing, owls dance, fox play. Nature knows that each cycle is necessary, even if the growth feels very very hard. So just like her, we work to find ways to embrace it. ⭐⭐⭐🌎🌎🌎
We may have lost another physical connection to my grandparents (who were unwavering in their support of building this business) yesterday, and we may be unweaving grief in many many forms but we are so thankful we don't have to do it alone. Thank you for being a part of our community, and understanding of this time! 💫💫💫
