Grand View Canine Care Enhancing relationship with yourself/others thru fear free practice of dog boarding/grooming/daycare in Springwater and Arkport NY
(270)

We are a growing family-run business with roots that began on a small dairy farm in the hills of Arkport, NY. Aptly named Grand View Farm for its scenic location, the care we gave to our animals transcends to this day. While we no longer cater to cattle, our inspiration also comes from being the proud owners of some very large breed dogs (Great Dane-St Bernard crosses) that are often jokingly refe

rred to as our horses or heifers. We operate next to and within our own homes in Arkport and Springwater so someone is on site 24/7. Dog to staff ratio is 7 to 1 and each pup gets one on one attention in daycare and overnight boarding. Our atmosphere is very relaxing tucked back in our wooded paradises! We offer leashed walks on trails and off leash times in group or as individuals, all inclusive. Enrichment activities are all based on positive reinforcement. Grooming is force free and also one on one. We are passionate about community outreach and continuing education. Original business owner and resident groomer (Rochester Institute of Dog Grooming) is Cornell University graduate Patricia Robords. Daughter Cassandra Bauer (SUNY Alfred and Geneseo) founded Grand View. Grand View Canine Care Inc is proudly owned and operated by Cassandra and husband Dennis. We've used our Marshmallow Maddie Fund lately on some families navigating some major medical concerns so we would appreciate any consideration to help us help more through it!πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ Nothing gives us more smiles than relieving one worry that pet guardians may have by not only providing peace of mind during chaotic times but also being able to help with a degree of financial strain. πŸ’žπŸ’žπŸ’žπŸ’ž

🌑️🌑️🌑️🌑️Deep cold is settling in next week! These are the forecasted "feel" temps with the wind chill. If you or someone you know has a dog without adequate housing for these temps please reach out to us for discounted pricing. No judgements, we just want to see dogs safe and warm. At this point we have a few open spaces so will offer what we can!

(We have done this in years past and helped some deserving dogs and families. If you are interested in helping us continue to offer community causes like this we have a fund for it and accept cash, check, or PayPal. Just let us know you'd like it to go to the Marshmallow Maddie Fund!)

Charlie arrived last week on foster and we have had some time to really get to know him! He would love your shares because you never know who they might reach...it could be his forever home! β„οΈβ„οΈπŸΎπŸΎ

Charlie is a six year old husky mix. He would make your best hiking buddy as he's great on a leash/harness! He's incredibly smart and his favorite activity is sniffing all the things. He loves playing toys (video in comments) and we have been working with him on dropping it in exchange for tasty treats/more toy time! Charlie is neutered and up to date on vaccines. He does fine so far with lower energy dogs.

Charlie was foster with us in 2021 but recently got returned because he wasn't digging the baby in the house. He never harmed the baby in any way and I applaud the family for recognizing Charlie's discomfort. They tried some things to manage the situation but realized that at this time the toughest but best choice was to advocate for him to come back to us or the shelter he came through. Charlie would be perfectly content with older kids who understand dog behavior and he would probably love to have a teenager pal or active adult/couple to do fun activities with!

If you know someone who might love Charlie please have them reach out to [email protected]

🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾

Not all pups enjoy the hustle and bustle of a wedding scene, but many people want their dogs to be a part in some way even if it is just for quick photos. We provide this valuable service that can be tailored to each dog's comfort level in memory of our boy, Hank. Six months after our own wedding, Hank passed away. We treasure our wedding photos with him and are grateful we were able to have him there to share our day with us. We would be honored to help make your furry friends be a part of your special day in a safe and relaxed way!

Happy 2025!

Charlie wasn't able to find a home for the holidays 😭😭😭 but we are hopeful that one more round of shares and interactions might get him closer! He's coming to stay with us January 6th if a new year miracle doesn't transpire by then. While we would love to foster him a potential new home would be a far better option! Can you help Charlie out? Click on the pic to share the original post ❀️❀️

Hi friends! This is Charlie, and he is hopping on the page today in hopes of finding a home for the holidays and beyond! Ho, ho, ho, you can help just by sharing far and wide! (We are in Arkport NY but willing to try to arrange transport for the right fit!) πŸ§‘β€πŸŽ„πŸ§‘β€πŸŽ„πŸ§‘β€πŸŽ„πŸ§‘β€πŸŽ„πŸŽπŸŽπŸŽπŸŽ

Charlie was a foster with us a few years ago, and we always tell anyone who adopts one of our fosters that they can return if it doesn't work out! The shelter that Charlie was adopted through is unable to help out at this time, so we are crossing ALL our fingers and paws that we can get the word out. Charlie's family loves him very much but Charlie has been very uncomfortable with a toddler human now in the house. (Please no judgements, this was a very heartbreaking decision that they didn't arrive at quickly or easily!) πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’”

Charlie is six years old, neutered and up to date on vaccines. He's an Aussie/Husky mix so he loves active play! BarkBox is his favorite, and he's super duper at fetch. Charlie would make a great hiking partner. He initially struggled with some on leash reactivity towards other dogs but his family has worked diligently to help him feel more at ease in these situations through reward based training. Charlie is very smart and works hard for his treats! We are unsure on how Charlie would be with cats, so we would prefer a kitty free home. 🐾🐾🐾🐾

*Returned home safe! - Arkport, NY

This holiday I want to talk about a different kind of dog, one that's not as welcomed with open arms but should be talked about more. 🐾🐾🐾

This holiday because this time of year can be extra hard I want to talk about a black dog named Depression. πŸ–€πŸ–€

You aren't alone. I've had a black dog since I was pretty young, and I've often tried to ignore it through a variety of often unhealthy ways. πŸ˜Άβ€πŸŒ«οΈπŸ˜Άβ€πŸŒ«οΈ

I worked with Jon as a pharmacy tech for many years when I was in college, then when I started the business the Ferree family were among the first who trusted me to come into their home to care for their amazing pups.

Jon was a stand-up guy with a great sense of humor. He cared deeply about the patients in the pharmacy, and anyone in his circle. He was constantly researching new science that might help others. It was that kind extra that continues to inspire me, and so in many ways he lives on.

Thank you to the Ferree family for even considering us for any memorials. We are deeply honored. πŸΎπŸΎπŸ’–πŸ’–

"We should just be thankful for being together. I think that’s what they mean by Thanksgiving, Charlie Brown.” -A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving

A few weeks ago we had the honor of having Rachal Rosalee Photography come hang out with us for a few hours. Our dog Poo had just passed away the day before and over half of us had been battling sickness for two weeks prior. (Little did we know it was going to flare up again for us, and by the evening after the pics I would be visiting urgent care!) πŸ’”πŸ˜

We have had quite the last six months! We have faced a tremendous amount of loss, anticipatory grief, and difficult decisions. Through it all though we've also seen amazing opportunity, growth, and love spring forth that may not have otherwise, at least to the degree that we have witnessed. πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ€πŸ€πŸ€

And so today we remain thankful. Thankful that mom's cancer has been stabilized enough she can still be spotted doing things she loves with us and around the View. Thankful for a team that's incredibly committed to caring on a level I can't even describe. And thankful for a community (that's you, reading this!) who cheers small businesses like us onward as we learn and evolve. πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ

We wish you a day where you too are able to find moments of pure joy even if it's hard to find ways to be thankful. Happy Thanksgiving 😍😍😍😍

About three weeks ago we had to say a rather unexpected farewell to Poo, our standard poodle. She was older and had recently had some health concerns but seemed on the up and up. She flew free before we even had the chance to get her to the vet early one morning. 😭😭

Poo came to us during a tough time when my grandfather was on hospice care. Originally named Paris, she was returned to a breeder because she kept vomiting in the house and the previous owners couldn't figure out why. The breeder asked if we were interested in her and without hesitation we took on a potential medical case with a lot of unknowns! We got her back to Arkport and settled in with mom's pack where she never again puked (unless she ate something she wasn't supposed to because she was a top notch table surfer!) and she fit in beautifully. I'm not sure how we all got calling her Poo, but the name stuck and she ended up being one of my daughter's absolute best friends. 🐩🐩🐩🐩🐩

I hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I enjoyed gathering them and remembering. I captioned each. We've had a tremendous amount of loss and anticipatory grief we have navigated this year. I think Donna Ashworth sums it up best :

"You don’t move on after loss, but you must move with. You must shake hands with grief, welcome her in, for she lives with you now. Pull her a chair at the table and offer her comfort. She is not the monster you first thought her to be. She is love. And she will walk with you now, stay with you now, peacefully. If you let her. And on the days when your anger is high, remember why she came, remember who she represents. Remember. Grief came to you my friend because love came first. Love came first."

Sharing on behalf of one of my amazing employees who started with me in high school, Rachel Mikolajczyk πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’š Please take part if you have worked in a shelter, volunteered, and or adopted. Our work at Grand View Canine Care has often intersected with the animal welfare field so I'm hoping we can help her get some great responses.

I'll even throw everyone who fills out the survey and comments below for a chance at a gift card! Thank you!

🐾 Help Shape the Future of Animal Shelter Design! 🐢

Hi everyone! My name is Rachel Mikolajczyk, and I’m an interior design student at Rochester Institute of Technology. For my senior capstone project, I’m focusing on β€˜bridging the gap between shelter environments and successful adoptions.’

With 4 years of experience working at a dog grooming and boarding facility, I’m deeply passionate about animal welfare and finding ways to improve it. Animal shelters face many challenges, including overpopulation, stress, and inadequate living conditions. These issues can significantly affect the mental and physical health of shelter dogs, making it crucial to identify what factors lead to poor welfare.

I need your help!
I’m conducting a survey to gather valuable insights from shelter employees, volunteers, and adopters about how current shelter designs impact:
πŸ• Animal welfare
🏑 Adoption rates
πŸ“‹ Care efficiency

Your feedback is vital to helping create spaces that better support shelter animals and their caregivers.

If you have experience working or volunteering at an animal shelter, please take a moment to complete this survey: https://forms.gle/2RLLJxTPkqWDRkQm6

If you’ve adopted or considered adopting an animal from a shelter, I’d love your input in this survey: https://forms.gle/qDZN1LrxrnNPjcwo8

Thank you so much for any feedback you’re able to provideβ€”I truly appreciate it!
