Just as there are many breeds of dogs, there are different types of tails too! Some dogs have short tails, other dogs have long, and some have no tails at all. What dogs have no tails?

Most dogs considered tail-less actually have tiny, stumpy tails usually called bobbed tails. These breeds include the Brittany Spaniel, Braque du Bourbonnais, Pembroke Welsh corgi, Australian stumpy tail cattle dog, Boston terrier, English bulldog, and French bulldog.

Bark Busters can help you train any breed, issue, age or tail 🐩🐾

If your dog struggles with car rides 🚘, it might be more about anxiety than motion sickness! Here are a few tips to help your furry friend:

- Conditioning: Start with positive associations with the car using stress-free activities like feeding, chewing on a favorite bone, or brushing. Gradually increase exposure with short, enjoyable trips.

- Secure Travel: Use a crate or dog seat belt to help your canine companion feel safe and prevent them from feeling overwhelmed by the scenery whizzing by.

- Breaks: Take frequent stops to let your dog stretch and relax and a quick walk or play before leaving and upon arrival can help minimize stress.

- Comfort: Ensure the car is cool and well-ventilated.

Addressing anxiety can often help more than treating motion sickness directly. Bark Busters is always available to help diagnose the issue and create a plan to help 🤝

🐾 Meet Kobe and Bentley, two best buds with some big personalities! 🐶

Kobe, a 2-year-old Golden Retriever German Shepherd mix, loves greeting visitors—maybe a little too much! His friendly nature has him jumping up on everyone who comes through the door, eager to say hello. Bentley, a 4.5-year-old Beagle, is the more laid-back of the two, but she’s quick to join in on the barking when someone’s at the door.

Both dogs are housebroken and get along great with each other and other dogs. When left alone, Bentley prefers to relax in her crate while Kobe hangs out, causing no trouble at all.

With Bark Busters' guidance, Kobe’s family is working on helping him greet visitors with all four paws on the ground, and we’re excited to see these two continue to thrive! 🐾

❓- Why do dogs have tails? 🐕

1️⃣ Balance
Dogs use their tails to balance when moving quickly, changing direction, climbing, or walking on narrow surfaces. The tail acts as a counterbalance, helping the dog put its weight on the opposite side of its tilt, similar to how a tightrope walker uses a balance bar. When swimming, a dog's tail can act like a rudder to help it move and turn.

2️⃣ Communication
Dogs use their tails to communicate with other dogs and humans. For example, a dog might wag its tail faster to express excitement, like when it's happy to see someone.

➕Other purposes
Dogs might also use their tails to fend off insects, increase or decrease their scent, and help them control their jumps.

🤓 Do you want to hear a tall tail? The Irish Wolfhound Keon holds the Guinness World Record for the longest dog tail, measuring 30.2 inches from the top of the tail to the tip. Keon's tail is so long that some say you could use it to play jump rope!

Meet Lucy and Jolly, two pups on a mission to master good manners with the help of Bark Busters Arlington! 🐾

Lucy, a 19-week-old German Shepherd, is full of energy and eager to please, but she’s got a few things to work on. She loves greeting people but tends to jump up on clients and visitors when they enter the home, sometimes even peeing with excitement. While she’s making progress with potty training, there are still some accidents inside the house.

On walks, Lucy does well when paired with Jolly, her 17-year-old Irish Terrier buddy. But when she’s on the leash alone, she struggles, often stopping and pulling back towards home. Separation isn’t easy for Lucy either—when left alone in her kennel, she’ll howl, bark, and cry, sometimes even having accidents inside.

Jolly, being the elder statesman, isn’t too thrilled when Lucy gets a little too bouncy and jumps on him. This has led to a few skirmishes, but with some guidance, they’re learning to respect each other's space.

These two are on a journey to become the best companions they can be, and with Bark Busters' help, they’re well on their way! 💪

🐾 Meet Fitzwilly, the 12-week-old American Pitbull mix in training with Bark Busters Arlington! This little guy is full of energy and excitement, which sometimes leads to some mouthy behavior and biting when he gets a bit too enthusiastic. Fitzwilly is working on his leash manners—he's more interested in grabbing everything he sees than actually walking! But he's a smart pup and is already crate-trained at night and when home alone.

Fitzwilly's journey hasn't been without challenges. When he first came into foster care, he had a rough start with a UTI and digestive issues, which meant they had to wait on neutering. But with love, patience, and training, Fitzwilly is on his way to becoming the best version of himself. Good news? He's as smart as they come and super affectionate! ❤️

Want to accelerate your dog's training progress? These tips are essential to having a well-behaved family companion:

1. Keep sessions short and focused. This helps prevent your dog getting frustrated, ensuring they stay engaged and willing to learn.

2. Be consistent with commands and positive reinforcement. You may be sending mixed messages without meaning to. Consistency builds clear communication between you and your dog, making it easier for them to understand and remember what's expected.

3. Use praise generously. Positive reinforcement through enthusiastic praise keeps your dog motivated and reinforces good behavior, strengthening their bond with you.

4. Practice in different environments. This helps your dog generalize commands and behaviors, making them reliable in various situations, not just at home. Avoid overwhelming your dog with too many commands at once, or using negative reinforcement as this can hinder progress and damage your dog's trust.

Remember, your dog wants to please you, he just doesn't know how. Let's make training a fun and rewarding experience for you and your pup.

Houdini, a 7-year-old Boxer mix, and Nikki, a 3-year-old Lab mix, are working through some challenges as they get to know each other. Houdini had a rough start with Nikki, but with guidance, we’re helping him learn how to stay calm and make friends. He’s great with the grandkids but can get a little too rough when they start running. Houdini also needs help with his barking and leash manners.

🐾 Meet Metro, a 5-year-old Doberman Pinscher, and Franky, a 7-year-old Chihuahua from Grand Prairie! 🐾

These two are in training with Bark Busters Arlington and making great strides. Metro is working on alerting his owner when he needs to go potty, improving his leash manners, and staying focused despite distractions. He’s nonaggressive and has good recall, but we’re helping him with basic commands when distractions are present. Metro also barks when visitors arrive and whines when left alone in his kennel.

Franky, on the other hand, is a bit of a barker but has no issues on the leash and sometimes joins Metro at the dog park. He’s also nonaggressive and full of personality.

We’re excited to help this duo become even more well-behaved! 🐶❤️

🐾 Meet Deacon, a 3-year-old Bull Terrier mix, on his journey to better behavior! 🐾

Deacon has had some tough moments recently—he bit his Dad when he got too close and another time bit a visitor who startled him awake. Although the incidents were fortunately minor, they’ve highlighted areas where Deacon needs support. He’s also quite the jumper when greeting people.

Until two months ago, Deacon was thriving at doggy daycare, but after being bit twice and with the daycare now closed, he’s adjusting to a new routine. On the major plus side, Deacon does well on a leash, and can be by himself without distress.

With some guidance, Deacon is on his way to being a more relaxed and confident companion. 🐶✨

🐾 Arlington just had an incredible training session with this great pack of four: Morty (7 years), Sawyer (4 years), Bash (1.5 years), and Ellie (9 months)! 🐶

Ellie had a bit of a rough start with Bash when she first joined the family, but we're working on getting her acclimated into the pack. Morty’s shown some aggression towards Ellie, and Bash’s barking habits have rubbed off on her—so we're focusing on leash manners, basic obedience, and helping Bash transition off his bark collar.

Morty and Sawyer are solid with their basics and are great on the leash, leading the way on their 3-way leash. Bash is following along, learning the ropes. They’re all super friendly with people, love their dog park time, and with a little help, they’re on their way to becoming an even more harmonious pack. 🐕✨

🎉 The Place Command 🎉

This is Cody and he's 4 months old.
He is currently learning the place command!

😍 Place helps young pups learn how to do nothing and be calm- Off switch

🥰 They learn impulse control - No matter what is going on, they're not allowed off until released.

😘 It works their brains since they have to make the decision to stay there.

🔥 Amazing management tool - You know exactly where your pup is! They're not somewhere peeing or chewing your furniture. They can be out of the crate more often to hang out with you!

🌟 Introducing Karl, the handsome 5-year-old Weimaraner in training with Bark Busters Arlington! 🌟

Karl’s been having a tough time adjusting to his new home since the move three months ago. He’s been reactive towards people entering the house and strangers he encounters on walks, often lunging and barking loudly. While he’s been with his family since puppyhood, these recent changes have brought on new challenges. 🐶

We’re working diligently to help Karl feel more secure and calm. By focusing on positive reinforcement and structured training, we aim to reduce his reactivity towards both people and dogs, making his transitions smoother and more enjoyable. 💪❤️

Karl is a loving and loyal companion, and with patience and support, we’re confident he’ll regain his calm and confidence. Here’s to helping Karl find his peace and enjoy his new home! 🌟🐾

🐾 Unlock Your Dog's Potential with Consistent Practice! 🐾
Ever wondered why some dogs seem to follow commands effortlessly while others struggle? The secret lies in one simple word: consistency.
Just like us, dogs thrive on routine and repetition. You can transform your dog into a well-behaved companion by practicing commands regularly.

Here’s how to get started:
1. Set a Schedule: Dedicate specific times each day for training sessions. Consistency in timing helps your dog understand when it's time to learn.
2. Use Clear Commands: Stick to the same words for each command. This reduces confusion and helps your dog associate the word with the action.
3. Be Patient: Progress might be slow at first, but patience is key. Celebrate small victories and keep the sessions positive.
4. Practice in Different Environments: Train in various locations to ensure your dog can follow commands anywhere, not just at home.
5. Stay Consistent: Make sure everyone in the household uses the same commands and techniques. Consistency from all family members reinforces learning.

Remember, practice makes perfect! With regular, consistent training, your dog will soon follow commands like a pro. 🐶✨

🐾 Meet Bella, Bubbles, and Bear! 🐾

This trio from Mansfield, TX is working hard with us to address a variety of behavioral issues. Here’s a snapshot of what we’re tackling:

Bella (7 years, Terrier mix): Struggles with anxiety around fast-moving objects, fireworks, thunder, and unfamiliar people. She often hides behind Abigail when new people are around and barks in the car and at trash bags.

Bubbles (6 years, Pug): Doesn't follow commands, pulls on the leash, and digs in the trash for food scraps. She’s very food motivated and continues barking until visitors pet her.

Bear (8 weeks, Chihuahua mix): Needs help with potty training, learning her name, and getting used to her harness. She nips at the other dogs playfully, tries to eat visitors' shoes, and gets scared on walks.

All three dogs rush to the door when the doorbell rings and jump on visitors. Feeding time has become chaotic since Bear's arrival, with Bear trying to steal food from Bella and Bubbles, leading to disharmony during meals.

We’re focused on improving their recall, commands, and leash manners while reducing anxiety and sibling rivalry. Stay tuned for their progress as we help them become the best versions of themselves!

🐾 Meet Maci! 🐾

This beautiful 8-year-old Labrador/Husky mix is in training with Bark Busters Arlington to tackle her extreme separation anxiety. Maci has been having a tough time since moving to Dallas, even breaking out of a wire crate and chewing through walls when left alone. 😢

In Oklahoma, she was fine for two years, but the move and schedule changes have caused her a lot of stress. At home and on a leash, she's a sweetheart, but when things aren't routine, her anxiety takes over.

We're working on helping Maci feel safe and secure, even when her family isn't home. With patience, love, and the right training, we're confident she'll overcome her fears and find peace. Stay tuned for updates on her journey! 🌟

🐶 Meet Lucy & Rainy! 🐶

Lucy is an adorable 12-week-old Yorkie who's still figuring out potty training. She loves chasing leaves and rolling around, so we've started using a leash to help her understand the difference between potty time and playtime. Crate training is coming along slowly—she cries for a few minutes but then settles down like a champ.

Rainy, a 6-year-old Jack Russell Terrier, is super patient with kids grabbing her ears and face. We're working on helping her be a bit nicer to Lucy. We're making positive progress!

Stay tuned for more updates on their training adventures! 🐾❤️

Jumping into the weekend so fast this week! Hopefully, you'll be out adventuring with your dog this weekend, so here are 3 top safety tips to keep in mind during the summer:

1. Protect their paws from hot pavement by walking on dirt or grass and sticking to early morning or late evening walks. A dog relies on the sweat glands in their paw pads to cool down; if the ground is too hot, they won’t get relief 🥵
2. Did you know that dogs can also suffer from sunburn and skin cancer? Ask your veterinarian about a pet-safe sunblock that they can't lick off 😎
3. Ask your vet or groomer if a haircut will help your dog stay cool. For some breeds, a long coat is a dog’s protection from skin cancer or provides insulation in the summer depending on the breed ✂️

What are your pet-friendly weekend plans? 🐕
