Hello - Are phones and internet are down due to work Comcast is doing. We apologize for the inconvenience. We are open today.

04/28/2023

We apologize if you are having trouble reaching us. We are experiencing telephone issues. We have been told our phone company is working on this issue.

04/24/2023

A message we received from Comcast - Possible phone distruptions Tuesday:

Work to enhance our network starts tomorrow.

We will be working to enhance the network near 16820 Smokey Point Blvd Ste 2 tomorrow, 04/24. Work could begin as early as 6 a.m. As our teams work to make these enhancements, you will experience service outages. We anticipate completing our work within the day.

This downtime will affect all of your Comcast Business services, and if you are a Comcast Business Voice customer, you will not be able to call 911 from your wired phone line. Please know our teams will work as efficiently as possible to limit the duration of these outages.

While these outages are only temporary, we know they can be frustrating. We appreciate your patience as we strengthen our network so you and your business can do more, better than ever before.

Learn more about how we're evolving our network.

Thank you for being a Comcast Business customer.

Sincerely,

Comcast Business

Fun fact Friday!🤓

Here’s a fun fact about polydactyl cats AKA Hemingway cats!

Cats normally have five front toes and four back toes, but some cats carry the polydactyl cats in their DNA, which means they can have extra toes. Most polydactyl cats have extra toes on their front feet and sometimes on their back feet as well.

Why are polydactyl cats called ‘Hemingway cats’? The history books said that Ernest Hemingway was gifted a white six-toed kitten by local mariner, captain, Stanley Dexter, after Hemingway had admired the captains own six-toed feline, Snowball, at a local watering hole in 1935. Hemingway lived in Key West, Florida, and his house is now a museum that is home to approximately 60 polydactyl cats, thought to be the descendants of Hemmingway’s original polydactyl cats.

As athe new year approaches, its time to start thinking when your pets next annual exam is!

Why should you get an annual exam?
Annual exams assure us owners that our pets are healthy. It’s a good way to double check that we aren’t missing anything. It also helps keep track of your pets vaccine status.

Here is a list of what your pet needs!

Dogs:
Leptospirosis - a bacterial disease spread through urine of an infected animal. This disease is also zoonotic (meaning humans can get it). This is a yearly vaccine, highly recommended to dogs who are outside/around wildlife

Bordetella - aka the “kennel cough” vaccine. This vaccine helps prevent/lessen symptoms of respiratory problems. It is a yearly vaccine, highly recommended to dogs who are boarded or regularly go to dog parks.

DHPP - This is a combo vaccine that prevents agains distemper, adenovirus, influenza, and Parvo. All of which can be caught anywhere, and could possibly be deadly. This is considered a core vaccine, and is recommended every 3 years (after year 1).

Cats:
FRCP - Protects against rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia. Recommended every 3 years to all cats.

FELV - Helps prevent feline leukemia. Feline leukemia weakness the immune system and can be fatal. It is spread by saliva of infected cats. It is recommend every 2 years for all cats, especially those who go outside.

Both:
Rabies - a fatal viral disease that attacks the nervous system. Is highly recommend for all animals and is actually a requirement by Washington State Law to have.

Give us a call to schedule your annual exam and vaccine appointments! ✨

***********TRIGGER WARNING: ANESTHESIA, MEDICAL PROCEDURES*********

***This is Roki, a staff pet that came in for a dental procedure and a cyst removal. We have full approval from the owners to share the procedure with you all so that you can learn and see behind the scenes!***

Picture #1: This picture shows our setup for the dental procedure. You can see the vital signs monitor, fluids pole, and the dental radiographs are set up. Your pet is monitored for the entirety of the procedure by one of our assistants, recording all of their vital signs every 5 minutes and a constant EKG. Your pet also receives IV fluids during the procedure.

Picture #2: This picture shows the machine that holds the dental tools for ultrasonic cleaning and polishing. Safety is our biggest priority; emergency medication sheet is printed per the patient's weight on the day of the procedure, and our veterinarian completes an exam prior to the anesthesia.

Picture #3: After the pet has received their "pre-meds" to help calm them down and prepare them for the procedure. An IV catheter is placed for continuous fluids throughout the procedure, and to push medications as indicated.

Picture #4: The catheter is taped securely in place and covered in vet wrap to ensure the pet does not chew at the catheter after the procedure. Once placement is verified with sterile flush, the anesthetic is given.

Picture #5: Once the patient has been sedated by the anesthetics, an endotracheal tube is placed to maintain the patient's airway, and allows us to provide them with oxygen and isoflurane gas to keep the patient asleep for the procedure. You can also see the pulse oximeter is placed on his tongue to monitor his heart rate and oxygen saturation level.

Picture #6: This picture is showing Roki's teeth mid-procedure.

Picture #7: This picture shows the technician polishing his teeth after the ultrasonic cleaning, to smooth the surface of the teeth and prevent breakdown of enamel. Also note that Roki has been moved to the other side of his body for easier access to that side of his mouth. Fluoride and OroVet sealant are also applied to the teeth to help keep the teeth healthy and to prevent plaque and tartar growth.

Picture #8: Roki is showing off his pearly whites after the procedure as he wakes up from anesthesia!

Side notes: Dental radiographs are also taken of each tooth and root during the procedure to ensure that there are no abscesses in the gums, and that there are no teeth that need extracted (just not shown in the pictures, but are performed on each pet). Pre-operative blood work is also required in each patient prior to anesthesia, to ensure that vital organs and clotting factors are working properly to avoid complications during the procedure.
