Look who swooped in for a little R&R! 🦇 This handsome Eastern Red Bat was rescued this week after he was found a bit dehydrated, but otherwise healthy. Thanks to one of our amazing rehabbers at Bat Conservation & Rescue of Virginia, he’s getting some much-needed hydration and rest to help him feel his best. With any luck, he’ll be back in the wild soon, ready to flutter off on more adventures! (And yes, we even baby-talk to bats around here—everyone deserves a little TLC, right?)

While spooky decorations can add some festive fun, fake spiderwebs can be seriously dangerous for local wildlife. Birds, small mammals, and even insects can get tangled up in the webbing and may be injured or worse.
Check out this video from a local resident showing two bees stuck in fake cobwebs. Let's protect our wildlife by skipping the fake webs this season or using them indoors only. Your small change can make a big difference!
We're kicking off the week with a heartwarming reunion story! This sweet poodle mix was brought to AWLA after being found in a park, and thanks to her microchip, we were able to quickly track down her owner. We learned her name is Nyla, and even more amazingly, she had been missing for over three months! Nyla and her owner were absolutely over the moon to be reunited, and we were so grateful to witness their joyful moment.
