The many sweet faces of some of the doggies I had the opportunity to massage this week. Shelter dogs are so appreciative and loving. ❤️ 🐾

They were great for practicing some newly learned skills on! MLD, circulatory massage and inflammation relief massage are just a few of the new skills I’m excited to bring home for our local Snohomish County pets!

All of these amazing dogs are available for adoption at Oregon Humane Society!

This big lover boy had his first massage session and did so great!

We worked on dissolving some adhesions along his back, and assessed his range of motion, which is being impeded by a small fatty lump in his armpit. Think of it this way - If you had a lump in between your thighs or on the bottom of your foot that caused friction when walking, it would probably create a lot of discomfort and cause you to walk funny to alleviate that pain. The same is true for our dogs, but they have the disadvantage of not being able to speak to tell us what hurts. A great benefit of massage is that we are trained to spot those lumps and bumps and feel for abnormal soft tissues so your vet can keep an eye on them and get them checked out. It is a great maintenance tool for making sure your dog stays feeling their best! Can’t wait to see Mr. Dobby again soon!

Sweet Mr. Charlie!

The basics of a massage session revolves around the comfort of your dog. Some dogs are more comfortable around strangers than others, which means often times our first massage session may revolve solely around ensuring your dog is comfortable with me in their home.

For Mr. Charlie here, he was pretty timid and vocal at the start of his session so we took some time to bond by sunbathing on the deck (his favorite place) and him showing me his beloved stuffed toys. By the end of his session, he was willingly sitting in my lap and enjoying some pets - such great progress!

Cant wait to work on him next time!

The many faces of Tikka!

Being only 1 year old, her owner didn't have any specific issues for her. But we decided it would be a good idea to work on her anyways to get a baseline for what her "normal" is.

There are always benefits to using massage as a maintenance tool, and it's honestly better utilized this way. With your practitioner knowing what's normal for your dog, they will be able to catch problems and resolve them likely before you even notice!

When it comes to your dog's health, prevention is key to longevity. 🐕🙌

Had a great time meeting this silly boy today, can’t wait to start doing more sessions on him to help with the compensation his other limbs are doing since becoming a tripod ❤️

🔥 DOG HEAT STROKE 🔥

Do you know the signs?

- Rapid Panting
- Weakness/Shaking
- Bright red tongue/Gums
- Diarrhea/Vomitting
- Thick Saliva/Drool

If your dog displays any of these signs make sure to move them to a cool area, cover them with cool water (ice cold water can send them into shock), and take them to your vet ASAP!

Here are some images of the bright red coloring to look out for, since we always hear about it but don’t often see. If your dog begins going into shock, their tongue may turn grey in color.

So happy to see this addition to our local animal shelter! Sniffing is a natural way our dogs relieve stress and take in their surroundings. Its great mental stimulation. This will be such a beneficial experience for these pups 🐶

The Everett Animal Shelter is building a "sensory garden" to help dogs during their stays.

🧨 💥 While the Fourth of July is a fun celebration for us humans, our pets likely don’t feel the same.

Fireworks are incredibly loud to our dogs very sensitive ears, and these explosions often trigger the fight-or flight response in our pets. This response is the dogs natural response to stress and has many physiological effects on our pets bodies.

Feel free to reach out to book a massage for your pup or fill out an intake form on my website.

Let’s help them get back on track and ease the stress after the fourth! 🐶

Post massage belly scratches! Mr. Digby did great for his first massage! His parents noticed he’s been having a more difficult time getting up/down lately, which isn’t uncommon in dogs as they age. Today we focused on relieving muscle tension in his hind end to help alleviate some of his pain, as well as bring warmth and fluid back into those joints so we can help to increase his range of motion and make getting up and down an easier time all around.

Fun fact that we learned at the vet today!

If you're unable to brush your pets teeth or use dental wipes, Greenies and other brands of dental chews have specific plant fibers in them that help to prevent the growth of plaque and tartar, which can cause many dental and health issues.

You can check the Veterinary Oral Health Councils website for a list of approved products to keep your pup smiling bright!

Just like humans, life changes can have a huge affect on our furry friends. It’s always good to be mindful about the signs our dogs may be giving us that can tell us if they’re experiencing stress. 🐾
