Rompin Paws Rescue is a No-Kill companion animal rescue dedicated to helping pets in need and helping end the suffering caused by humans through overbreeding, abandonment, and cruelty. Our goal is to save one animal at a time and give it the best care possible through proper vetting, spay/neuter, proper feeding and nutrition, training, love, and compassion. Our volunteers and Fosters receive training in basic care, nutrition, training, and medical emergencies so they have the tools they need to help an animal become adoptable and eventually find its forever family. Our adopters are also given valuable information and support so they know they can count on us if the need should arise. I have seen the number of animals killed in U.S shelters drop over 44 years from 20 million adoptable pets per year to six million per year. We still have far to go and Rompin Paws Rescue is another step on that road to a NO-KILL Nation. Dog Adoption Guidelines
Adopting a Dog requires a lot of work and is a commitment! YES, we do adopt to Canadians. We Have adopted The philosophy put forth by SHUG rescues Founder that We as a rescue are seeking EMOTIONAL SUPPORT HUMANS for the dogs. We highly recommend this short blog post by a fellow rescuer explaining what adopting a rescue dog means to her. http://sighthoundunderground.com/http/this-is-not-your-dog/? Healthy dogs: As a rescue saving dogs from Starvation, Neglect and Emaciation, RPR focus's on feeding each rescued animal the healthiest dog food made of Human Grade ingredients to help them recover from their stress and starvation. We share this with our adopters and encourage them to keep their new pets on the same foods for optimal health and long life. we highly recommend this book: The Forever Dog- https://www.amazon.com/Forever-Dog-Surprising-Companion-Healthier/dp/0063002604/ref=

OUR REQUIREMENTS FOR DOG ADOPTION:

1) These dogs are not livestock dogs. They must be family pets that are allowed inside the home.

2) We give preference to applicants with prior small breed knowledge/ experiences, and are willing to feed the dogs Canine Specific food.

3) Secure visible fencing required.

4) You must have a plan in place to socialize your dog properly.

5) Please do NOT write to us and ask if this dog is available. If it is posted, it is available. BUT, we may be working on other applications that came in before yours. If so, by the time you are approved, the dog may not be available.

8) The FASTEST way to be considered for a dog is to fill out an application. If you write, it will delay your application and put you at the back of the line. All the persons processing applications are volunteers that have their own dogs, families, and job responsibilities. We do our best to get applications done quickly but applications for adult dogs come before puppy applications. There is always someone that will want to adopt a puppy. Health: All dogs have been spayed/neutered unless they are too young. They are microchipped, current on DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies. All dogs are wormed and flea treated, tested negative for heartworm and Parvo and they are fed a Species appropriate Human grade diet for dogs. Adoption Fees

The adoption fee is $650.00 for most dogs. Senior dogs vary by age and the amount of medical care received. The adoption fees help cover transport from shelters all over the west coast, and medications such as certain vaccines, worming, and parasite, and flea/tick control, health certificate and wellness exam, any special medical care, dental as required, and care of sick or injured dogs. We bring dogs from up from California mostly, some from Mexico, Texas, Arizona, and the occasional dog from China or India. There are transportation costs for each dog. Then the dogs need to be spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and groomed. We don't receive any grants so we rely solely on adoption fees and donations to fund all of our rescue efforts. Finally, we take on "Special Needs" dogs with high vet costs and pay for their procedures with 'leftover' funds from adoption fees for healthier dogs. About Rompin Paws Rescue
Rompin Paws Rescue is a licensed, Non-profit Corporation specializing in rescuing moms to be, moms with puppies, puppies without moms, Senior dogs, dogs who were dumped by humans in parks, on the streets, and backwoods trails, as well as Shelter Death Row dogs. We are located in Western Washington State, 1 Hr. North of Seattle. Our passion is to bring people and pets together. Countless dogs are without homes and in need of assistance. These are dogs who would make wonderful and faithful companions if only they could connect with the right person or family. We have made it our mission to help them do this. At the same time, we hope to enrich the lives of those who adopt them. We strive to match our dog's needs and personality to the preferences and requirements of each potential adopter. We believe this is a crucial component of the process and will help ensure a life-long relationship. Our primary focus is on small mixed breeds, moms, and puppies of small and large breeds, and SENIORS, which has become critical in the past few years as more people are throwing away their older dogs. RPR occasionally takes in larger dogs. RPR works collaboratively with shelters, other rescue groups, and individuals, both locally and along the I-5 corridor from California to Washington

RPR was established in April 2015. We placed 400 dogs in our first year of operation in a small facility on Acreage in Arlington Washington, 1 hour N. of Seattle. We have local fosters from Seattle to Bellingham and seek to increase our foster base in order to save more lives. If you would like to become a foster for Rompin Paws, please fill out this foster application- http://rompinpawsrescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/

Come Meet Our Pets...
We have a home-based operation on Acreage in Arlington and Our dogs are placed in foster homes around the greater Seattle/I-5 Corridor North to Arlington area where they receive socialization and training while they await adoption. Our Adoption Process...
Since we have a small facility on gated acreage, and Due to COVID 19, we are unable to stay open to anyone who wishes to come to visit. To facilitate successful adoptions we ask interested people and families to fill out an application for the dog or dogs they may be interested in. We screen the applications and then speak with the interested party by phone. If it looks like a good match can be made, we pre-approve the applicant and set an appointment for a meet and greet with the dogs at our facility or with the fosters who have the dogs in their care. YES, We are adopting to Canadians.

VENTING!

IRRESPONSIBLE DOG OWNERSHIP seems to be an Incessant, Unremitting, Proliferating issue in Washington State.

You are told yours would likely be euthanized if you surrender to a shelter-still you say, "Can you take it?" Sadly, I cannot. I am full.
Rescues are NOT dumping places for dogs because you are choosing to get rid of a beloved companion rather than taking responsibility and committing to it for life.
You are surprised to hear our shelters are killing 10 or more animals every day, to the tune of 50,000 or more a day, all over this country and 20 million a year in total.
You are told yours would likely be euthanized if you surrender to a shelter-still you say "Can you take it?"
I respond, "Every rescue receives the same calls I am, and the shelters need us to take their dogs so lives are saved. We are full".
You respond, "But it's your job to take my dog!"
NO, IT'S NOT!! I am a volunteer rescuer trying to save as many lives as possible, and you are the parent of a fur buddy who needs you! There are NO HOMES!! Twenty Million Unnecessary deaths a YEAR!
You own a breed that is one of the top 3 killed daily. Shepards/Pittie/Huskies. Each breed is dying to the tune of 1 million or more in shelters in this country.
I may also receive the excuse that your dog is too old! Still, you want to throw the dog away rather than be there for that dog when it needs you most. Your Buddy, Your best friend. Now you abandon it.

THE REASONS?
I had a kid
I have to move
Because...life.
The dog is too old, I want a younger dog.

People constantly move, have kids, and go through life changes. It's all a part of living!! You don't get to raise a dog and throw it away because life changes. That makes you a horrible person, and I will tell you so. Instead of taking control of your life and being an adult, you will write a one-star review because I called you out and told you to be responsible.
Pathetic

Molly Mae Pupdate

Molly Mae has had her Full Senior wellness exam. She had to have an ultrasound as the vet discovered a lump in her Kidneys? She has a kidney stone. The urinalysis will tell us what kind of stone is and how to best treat it. We have a $800 quote to remove her remaining teeth, which are entirely rotted. I will ask for a complete estimate for everything if there is a cost for doing what is needed to eradicate that stone, and then I will post a fundraiser.

The original vet estimate was $289.00, which ended up being $534.00 with ultrasound. We definitely need a fundraiser to move forward. I will get a Fundraiser organized when we have a final estimate.

Thank you to everyone who donated toward Molly Maes's veterinary bill

URGENT!
Rompin Paws Rescue is extremely low on dog food!

Thank you to Gale, Petra, Carrie Ann, Carmen, and Angel for the recent dog food purchases. Some of the food was sent to the fosters, who will take the three puppies arriving on Wednesday evening! We have a nice amount of freeze-dried food for the 7 seniors in the facility. What we need are the boxes of dehydrated food for the long run.

Any purchase of an item on the WISHLIST helps Rompin Paws Rescue care for our sanctuary pups and new arrivals
