BATCH 2: In our Daycare PLUS photo set dog training, we always work on stays, but our Thanksgiving twist: can our Daycare PLUS dogs also stay in pairs? Inspired by the season of togetherness, we challenged our pups to sit at the table with a friend. While we often photograph dogs from the same household, asking unrelated dogs to share space (and camera time!) is a whole new level of teamwork. It means sitting close together, strong enough stays that both dogs look at camera at the same time, and if we’re lucky, getting two smiles in the same shot!
I'm pretty sure I was crazy to attempt this, but it's been pretty fun, and I've been impressed by how many dogs have been able to do it so far! -- Erica

DOUBLE DOG DOWN! this week in Daycare PLUS, our pups get to practice lying down with a partner, and maybe even staying, a down stay. This is so much harder than single dog down or stay, because any movement from one dog encourages the other to pop up.

For advanced pups, we can even practice having one dog stay while the other gets up and does a trick like spin!

We will be working on this for TWO weeks, because it’s great practice for the upcoming holiday season.

'Tis the season to give thanks, and we are thankful for all of our puppy friends in Daycare PLUS! Here's what we have planned for November:

ALL NOVEMBER: Please Stay for Dinner photo set
NOV 3 - 14: TWO WEEKS of Double Dog Down - doubling down on stay & settle practice before the holidays
NOV 17 - 21: Turkey Trot - Leash walking practice
NOV 24 - 26: Turkey Tug - Tug and toy play with the trainers

LAST BATCH: We’re enjoying all of the Halloween tricks and treats in WOOFS! Daycare PLUS! Each photo set brings its own surprises, and this month was no exception. I expected the spooky props—the skulls and the looming tree—to give our pups pause, but those didn’t rattle anyone (heh heh). As imagined, some dogs did feel cramped by the gravestone to their right, but the real surprise? Several pups were hesitant to walk on the fuzzy gray blanket! It just goes to show that even the smallest details can feel strange to our dogs. For those, we took it slow and let them explore at their own pace until they felt brave and confident about this new texture underfoot.
Who needs ghosts and goblins when you’ve got fuzzy blankets to be brave about?
