More New Year 2025 photos, continuing the theme of "walking / sitting / lying down on weird things"

We are celebrating the new year in Daycare PLUS with adorable photos that combine several skills that we've been working on! Of course we are practicing our "stays", but in this set, we also practice walking, standing, sitting and laying down on strange surfaces, with the tinsel on the ground under the dogs.

In addition, many of our pups have practiced the "paws on object" skill and are pictured here standing on a disc. The disc is another type of "place" to indicate where the dog should go and stay (this is routinely used for dogs on movie sets). Good job, pups!

Daycare PLUS schedule is up for January! While we do a variety of activities every day, we have one major themed activity scheduled for each week.

Jan 2 - 10: Happy New Year photo, including our previous "paws up on a disc" activity. Pups who have learned this activity will get to include discs in their photo! Discs are good for fitness, and are a great way to practice "stay" in the stand position.

Jan 6 - 10: JUMP into the New Year, featuring a tinsel-covered hoop. Will your dog be comfortable pushing through the covered hoop? Can they follow directions to go through independently? Can we send from a distance? Lots of options for this activity!

Jan 13 - 17: "Can you sit on weird surfaces?" -- We will ask your dog to sit on a variety of strange surfaces. This is a great way to practice "sit" anywhere, and This may be harder than you imagine!

Jan 20 - 24: Using HIND legs (rear legs on an object) -- A great fitness exercise to ask your dog to think about their body in a novel way. Hind-end exercises are great for building strength and coordination in young AND older dogs.

Jan 27 - 31: Puzzle: Cup Flip game -- your dog will be invited to do some problem solving and use their nose in this fun enrichment activity.

One more snow day! Daycare will be closed again on Tuesday, January 6th.

Puppy Partiers -- we MAY still be on for Tuesday night for those who want to venture out, so keep an eye out for updates.

Winter-themed handling exercises from Daycare PLUS™! This game is called "Will you let me put something across your back?". Some dogs are very comfortable with this, and others are less certain about it, but it's valuable for ALL dogs to *positively* practice having strange things on or near their bodies. This is helpful for veterinary visits, for putting on harnesses or other equipment and for other reasons we may need to put things on our dogs when we are caring for them.
