ππΎ Congratulations to Megan Johnson on her promotion to Assistant Dog Trainer! πΆβ¨
Megan is the proud mama to Hudson, a happy-go-lucky 10-month-old Golden Retriever who loves trips to the puppy park, breaking down sticks for the landscapers, hanging out with all humans, and politely demanding attention. When Megan is not training, she is a Senior Architectural Designer at MV+A Architects in D.C. Megan loves taking a break from her "day job" to spend time at the training school and daycare on weekends, and Hudson absolutely loves all the "perks" of mom's job. πβ€οΈ

π Food Drive for Food for Neighbors π
Now through January 10th, join us in making a difference! Hunger is closer than you think, even in affluent areas like Arlington. In Loudoun and Arlington Counties, over 25% of students depend on free and reduced-price meal programs, and in Fairfax County, itβs even higher at over 33%!
This December, Fur-Get Me Not is proud to host a food drive benefiting Food For Neighbors, a local organization dedicated to helping students facing hunger. They provide middle and high schools with meals and snacks that students can access during times of need.
Weβre aiming to donate 300 pounds of food to local schools near our daycare in Shirlington:
π« Arlington Career Center
π« Arlington Community High School
π« Gunston Middle School
π« Kenmore Middle School
π« Wakefield High School
Please consider donating shelf-stable items from our recommended grocery list with a "best by" or "use by" date at least two months out. Your contributions will help ensure students have the energy they need during the school day and food to take home for weekends and holidays.
Are you planning a trip to Costco or can spare an extra item during your grocery run? Every little bit helps us get closer to our goal! β€οΈ
Letβs come together and support our community!

ππΎ Tongue Out Tuesday is here, and weβre jingling the bellsπ to celebrate our newest Pet of the Month ambassador... Ajax! πΆ
π Ajax is a 6 month old male Pittbull mix that recently joined the FGMN family. Ajax attends daycare, boarding, puppy socials, training classes and workshops.
π Words to live by? Love big, play hard, eat well, and cuddle often!
ο»Ώπ Favorite thing about our team? Everyone has been so sweet and fantastic with him. Ajax initially came to FGMN very shy and unsure about himself. All the staff have shown him so much love which has helped to build his confidence. Now he walks in excited to say hello to all the staff and can't wait to go play with his friends.
π Favorite dog friend? Milo
π Quirk? Ajax makes it a point to try to pick out a stick or leaf to bring inside the house every time he goes outside.
π If your dog could talk, what would they say about us? "Another treat, please!!"
π Why did you choose our service? We wanted to keep up his socialization and get him into training. FGMN offered several training classes we were looking for and the day care came recommended. We loved how staff took the time to assess what his needs were and place him in a playgroup that fit those needs to help build his confidence.
π Anything else you would like to share? Thank you to everyone at FGMN for showing Ajax so much love. We have seen such a positive change over these last few months. I recommend FGMN to everyone!
Get your paws on our exclusive offer: Purchase a package of 10 Enrichment Camps or Nature Walks and SAVE $25! That's a total value of $150!
We'll apply the credit for any camp or walk you schedule while your dog enjoys daycare in the future, and the best part? There's NO expiration on these credits! πΆβ¨

Nugget & Nellie Puppy Class
Nugget and Nellie learning how to interact with each other in puppy class. πWatch the whole video and listen as Brianne interprets the body language and communication between the two of them. She describes what to look for and how to intervene if necessary. We like to see role reversals, mirroring each other, and opportunities to self regulate and take a break.
TIP: We manage our puppy socials the same way, trainers are present to ensure all puppies have a positive experience. Puppy socials every Saturday morning for dogs less than 6 months of age. Register online.
π₯ New Workshop Alert!π₯ Join us Thursday, 5/9 for a Cooperative Care workshop. Learn how to build and maintain your dogβs tolerance of handling in all situations throughout life.
Cooperative care emphasizes active pet participation in grooming, vet visits, and handling at home. This workshop aims to introduce you and your dog to concepts to help your dog tolerate husbandry procedures. We acheive this by giving them greater control over their experiences through a framework of behaviors built on trust and collaboration.
πΎ Does your dog struggle with grooming or vet visits?
πΎ Does your dog avoid brushing and nail trims?
πΎ Is your dog tolerant of handling and do you want to prevent potential problems?
πΎ Do you want to learn how to help your dog feel more confident when faced with care tasks?
πΎ Does your dog struggle with grooming or vet visits?
This workshop is excellent choice for any dog especially puppies, adolescents, elderly dogs, and Impulse Control, Confidence Building, Brain Games, or Relax students and anyone with enrichment interest.
Our story began in December 2000 when founder Tammy Rosen launched Fur-Get Me Not as a pet sitting business operating out of her home in Arlington, VA. Initially she was the single employee and operator but quickly realized the growing demand for in-home dog walking and pet sitting services. Within a few short months she hired her first employee and was able to expand in-home pet care services in Arlington and soon after the broader Northern Virginia region.
In late 2003, Fur-Get Me Not relocated it's office to Shirlington and opened a 3,000 square foot dog daycare facility. By doing so, the company was able to further expand our pet care services by offering dog daycare, dog boarding, and dog training. By 2006, Fur-Get Me Not expanded in-home pet care services to the Washington, DC area.
In 2010, Fur-Get Me Not became a full-family affair when Tammy's husband joined the company. At the same time, we expanded our business in Arlington, by opening a Dog Training School located next door to our dog daycare, and in DC, by opening a DIY Dog Wash.
Today Fur-Get Me Not employs 130 pet care professionals and provides services to over 8,000 clients in the Northern Virginia and Washington DC area. Fur-Get Me Not has been recognized by numerous publications, organizations, and our customers for the high quality of services and the friendly, professional staff that make it all happen.
Philosophy
We believe in fair, open, and honest business practices. We believe when someone else is caring for your pet, they should provide the same quality of care as if you were doing it yourself. We work hard to build long-lasting relationships with you and your pets. Our team wants to really get to know your pet so we can partner with you to help them thrive. Our services are broad yet flexible, convenient, and can be combined in different ways to meet your specific pet care needs.
Whether you work or travel, have a new puppy, a high-energy dog or a playful kitten, experiencing behavior challenges with your dog or have a shy cat, we do it all. We can come to your home for pet sitting, dog walking, or dog training. Or you can bring your dog to us for dog daycare, dog boarding, dog training or DIY dog wash.
