We keep our lights on year round in our back aisle, keeping coats short and our mares ready for breeding, 2025 is going to be an exciting year!

If your Christmas lights are on, your mare’s lights should be too!*
In order to prepare for your mare to be cycling in February for breeding season, it is essential to start your mare under lights December 1st! Our lights here at the ranch turn on at least half an hour before sunset, and stay on until 11:00pm. We use timers for these lights, which maximizes efficiency across all our barns and pens.
Some of you may ask, "What kind of light should I use?" Sufficient light is where you can comfortably read a newspaper in every corner of the mare's stall.
May your days be merry and LIGHT!
*unlike most Christmas lights…your mares should be lit until April 1st 😄
