Unsurprisingly, some older cats end up at Anne Arundel County Animal Services because their senior owners have passed away or moved to assisted living facilities that don't accept pets. But Ace, 13, who had been living with a family young enough to have a 6-month-old baby, was given up for a quite different reason: He "sat on baby one time," his former owner wrote on his pet history form. If you can forgive him for that transgression, Aceβs adoption fee is waived this week, as are the fees for all other shelter pets. The shelter will begin charging modest adoption fees again on Sept. 16 after waiving them for about two years. The new fees, shown in the comments below, include a discount for older cats and dogs.
