Meet Lincoln, a charming 9-year-old Wheaten Terrier mix who’s looking for a new family to call his own. His wonderful and caring owner just sadly passed away, so we are helping the family find him a forever home. This sweet boy is neutered and up-to-date on all of his vaccines, lab work, and is current on his monthly flea/tick & heartworm preventatives. He weighs between 35 and 40 pounds and sports a lovely coat that, while requiring routine grooming, doesn’t shed too much. Lincoln has been coming to us for his vet care and to play with the other dogs in boarding/daycare ever since his previous owner adopted him in 2017!

Lincoln is great with children and other small to medium-sized pets, making him an ideal companion for a mature person(s) but will also do well in a family environment. However, he does have some separation anxiety and will thrive in a home where someone is around most of the time, such as someone who works from home.

This gentle, affectionate pup needs a patient and understanding home that can help him adjust to his new surroundings. If you have room in your heart and home for a devoted furry friend, Lincoln might be the perfect addition to your family. A home check and references are required; please reach out to Katie at 410-271-6956.

Do you and your dogs enjoy taking walks? Make sure you do so in the early mornings or late evenings! ☀️🔥

Any hard road or street surface can be considered pavement and while black asphalt pavement is especially concerning when it comes to heating up, even concrete surfaces can get too hot for a dog to walk on. Despite what one might think, the temperature of the air is not the same as the temperature of the pavement. This means that as it gets warmer outside the ground can approach scalding temperatures that are unsafe for paw pads. 🥵🌡

Keep your dogs happy and their paw pads healthy!!

We are right in the middle of season! If your dog has been around any boarding facility, groomer, or dog park, and is exhibiting any of the following signs, please make sure you call us to schedule an appointment to get them seen.

What is Kennel Cough?! 🤧 Kennel cough is a highly contagious upper-respiratory infection seen in dogs of all ages. Kennel cough is a general term used for the infection that can be caused by canine adenovirus type 2, parainfluenza virus, canine respiratory coronavirus, or Bordetella bronchiseptica bacteria.

Tips to help prevent your dog from getting kennel cough:
1. Ensure their Bordetella vaccine is up to date. This vaccine cannot 100% prevent your dog from getting this infection, but can lessen the symptoms.
2. Limit your dog's exposure to dog parks, training facilities, and shared water bowls (unless you know for certain the other dogs are vaccinated properly). Most boarding/daycare facilities require your dog to have the Bordetella vaccine.
3. Sanitizing all toys, bowls, bedding, etc.
4. If you find out your dog has been around another dog that had kennel cough, keep your dog at home.
5. Do not allow your dog to go nose to nose with a dog you do not know.

Happy 4th of July! ❤️🤍💙

This holiday celebrates America's birthday and our freedom; but did you know it holds the highest intake day for animal control and shelters?

Here are some safety tips for your pets:
- Make sure your pets are inside before the fireworks start; the loud noises and flashes from the fireworks can cause them to run away. Do not bring them to a firework display, they will feel much safer in your home.
- Make sure to ID your pets; update their tags with your information in case they do run away. If your pet is microchipped, that's a bonus! With this updated information, someone will be able to contact you in case they get lost!
- Create a safe place for your pets. If they're used to being in their crates, make sure to secure them inside of them. If not, make sure they're with you and provide them with treat toys such as a kong, lick mat, frozen treats, etc. to keep them busy. You can also try playing calming music or the tv so it's harder to hear the celebrations outside.
- Exercise earlier in the day! Tire your pet out before the celebrations start to help alleviate stress and avoid accidents.
- If your pet is prescribed any anti-anxiety medications specifically for these types of events, please make sure you give them at least 2 hours prior to the firework celebrations.

We hope you have a safe and happy holiday! 🇺🇸

Our Story

Meet our Veterinarians: Dr. Carr earned her D.V.M. from The Ohio State University in 1984. Dr. Carr also finished her certification in Veterinary Manipulative Spinal Therapy (also known as Chiropractic Medicine) in 2011. She lives on 33 acres in Millersville along with an assortment of sheep, chickens, dogs, and assorted fish. Her hobbies include training others and competing in Dog Agility, needlework and photography. " I wanted to be a veterinarian ever since high school, when I worked for a local veterianrian in Ohio. I was fascinated by the job, especially surgery. I love communicting with my clients on a personal level. I enjoy looking at my patients as a complex package, each in a unique situation." Dr. Kelly Stern started working for the Arnold Pet Station in August 2014. Dr. Kelly Stern received her B.S. in microbiology and chemistry from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona in 2002, and then attended veterinary school at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado, graduating in 2006 with a D.V.M. degree as well as certification in medical acupuncture for veterinarians. As a child, Dr. Stern travelled a lot with her family and lived many different places spending most of her time growing up on ranches, living and working with animals. She graduated from high school early, at age 15, to fully pursue her first career as a professional rider. She then spent the next several years working at various racetracks in the western U.S. as a professional jockey and assistant trainer, riding both Quarter horses and Thoroughbreds. Dr. Stern’s professional interests include: internal medicine, ultrasound, client education, preventative care, pain management and acupuncture. She has an 11 year old yellow Lab named Kona and a 2 year old black Lab named Chester. She spends her spare time with her husband, Dave and their two young children. Dr. Laird is originally from Hagerstown Maryland. She graduated from McDaniel College (formerly Western Maryland College) with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and a minor in Studio Art in 2004. She spent the next two years as a technician in a cancer immunology research lab at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. Dr. Laird then attended veterinary school at Virginia Tech graduating in 2010. Her professional interests include surgery, internal and emergency medicine. In her free time Dr. Laird enjoys traveling, cheering on the Ravens and Hokies, and spending time with her husband Sean and Pit Bull mix Rufus.
