The animal shelters in LA are dealing with many more displaced pets than usual due to the fires in and around Los Angeles and as a result, dogs in shelters are being moved to euthanasia lists faster than before. Some amazing rescues have stepped up to the plate to help as many of these dogs as possible, and Gone to the Dogs Rescue is one of them. Partnering with Springdale Pet Ranch, seven beautiful, social, dog-friendly pups were rescued last Sunday and are being housed at Springdale. These amazing dogs are all looking for foster homes or permanent homes. As these dogs find homes and forever families, we can help more dogs in overcrowded LA shelters.

Meet Mo, Storm, Blaze, Lucas, Missy, Sparky, and Llama! Each of these dogs is overjoyed to have the extra space, attention, love and care they are getting now at Springdale, but they need forever homes. All of them will be gifted a complimentary 5-day basic obedience training program by Springdale, and a few of them know some basic obedience cues already. As you can see by our group photo, they just want to be loved, and they are all dog friendly! We will have more information coming soon about these special pups.

We met Charlie, Misty & Ivy, Tucker, Ruby, and Willow last week and they made so many new friends to play with!! From running around the yards playing chase, to rolling in the grass and basking in the sun with new besties, to cuddling with the pet attendants, they fit in so well with their new groups it's almost like they've been here the whole time! 💞🐾

Sporty, energetic dogs LOVE playing on our agility equipment at the Ranch! While getting out extra energy, the agility equipment also helps these playful pals build confidence, strength, problem-solving skills, and stamina. Zoom, zoom, zoom!! Our furry friends have so much energy in the yards, they do the cutest zoomies - did you know zoomies can be contagious, starting with one pup running full-out and ending up with the whole group excited? Zoomies are a totally natural, fun, and normal behavior for dogs. Dogs can get the zoomies when they are happy, excited, or have pent-up energy. For example, they might get the zoomies when they see their favorite person, get a new toy, or eat a treat. Zoomies can even help stimulate a dog's mind! 💞🐾💙🧡

A regular walk is vitally important for your pet's health - Most dogs need to be walked at least once each day, though some dogs, particularly very active dogs, may require more. A walk can also make a dog very happy! You may already know that dogs sweat through their paws, but did you know these other fun facts about your pup's paws?

We pet our dogs to show our love and affection. Turns out they do the same. By putting their paw on you while you are petting them, they may be reciprocating affection back to you! They may also paw when they want something, and we give it to them, that can teach them that using their paws is an effective way to communicate.

Paws also serve an important function in your dog’s sensory system and body awareness - they indicate to the brain the temperature and changes in pressure and send messages about the new and varied sensations the dog may encounter. This helps your dog make quick decisions!

There’s a layer of fat inside dog paws that helps prevent the feet from freezing, which is why they can endure walking on cold surfaces like snow. That said, it’s still SUPER important to be careful because dogs can still get frostbite and dried-out, chapped pads from snow and ice. For this reason, avoid letting your dog play out in the cold for too long.

The paws contribute so much to so many things your dog can do and are much more complex than they appear!

Jumping into 2025, Dom is our employee of the month again! He has stayed consistent in his dedication to Springdale and enjoying all of his time with your companions! The smile has not faded and the cheer is only increasing day by day. Dom has some canines of his own at home and loves having Rocky tag along with him a few days of the week as well! His favorite part of the Springdale family is everyone lending a helping hand and getting to take those cute pictures everyone loves of their pets! Congratulations Dom!
