I weep for the past and all the loss we have endured and I feel a million miles from home, and under a rock licking my wounds...

But,

I also feel excited and "spinning my wheels" and a drive towards the future and where this next generation pack will take me.

now... 2024, Ive out-lived everyone of them. it makes me sad and feeling very alone.
(but also) now 2024... I look at the current team and see they are all descendants, all younger brothers/ sisters and trainees and family of the original group. AND, if we look at all their beginnings with us... everyone of the new generation were sent to me by the old. [Note- If I didn't know better, I would swear there is an agenda at work here]
(most importantly) now 2024, every single one of these dogs... from my beginnings in 1990 to today has taught me my dog training trade, has taught me a sense of belonging and family, and taught me what it is to even love someone.
As long as I have dogs, I am never alone.

Lena is great. So great, that she gave me an ultimatum:
P!ss or get off the Pot!!!! Or, get over the loss of Roger, complete his memorial, share it, so we can get the show on the ROAD!!!!

Even if you never knew Roger, maybe remember a dog you did love, and lose and memorialize them, too.

Lena got her Malinois all jumbled up with her Pit Bull.
She's fantastic.

in these few days prior to Lena arriving, we are all getting our pre-game face on!!! 🤪
- ears and claws
- revisiting old tolerance and confidence building exercises
- a new bowl, collar and ID tag for Lena
- ready the quarantine room
- (personally) bracing for change, and Lena helping write the next chapter

STELLAAAAaaaa!!!!!

We've been working with Stella and her mom for a few weeks now.
Near where they live is a light rail station... PERFECT for dog training and desensitizing and building confidence/ tolerance.
We got more than we bargained for: both trains came into the station at once/ both sides AND there was a dog-aggressive dog already on the platform. It was the Bermuda Triangle of Dog Walking... It was Perfect!!!!

With very little direction, Stella dropped into Neutral and we let the world go by. Mom felt pride, lots of people walked by smiling.

His name is Woody.
He's been bounced around ... and he is only a year and a half old.
Woody now has some issues with reactivity to other dogs and uncontrollable prey drive... fairly expectable under the circumstances.
After negotiating the dog trainer>foster parent> rescue org triangle... I hope to start training next week.

On our walk thru Olde Town Arvada this morning, we came across a couple walking their puppy.
Bentley just stopped and starred, and a whimper, and starred some more.

Maybe Bentley's jedi training is complete and she needs her own Gakusei (student) / little brother.

YA NEVER KNOW who ya might happen upon at 4-o-clock in the morning.
I opened up the house to air it out and this little Missy comes right up and looks in our storm door... like she was hustlin' Avon or something.
