"Alaska's Sekawie Sadie"

Sadie, an Airedale Terrier from the Alaska's Sekawie bloodline, was a remarkable dog whose legacy lives on through this beautiful artwork created and donated by her owner, Rebecca Holmes. Rebecca, the proud mother of Sadie, shared some fascinating details about her beloved pet.

At just six months old, Sadie achieved the prestigious titles of Best Puppy In Show and Best Terrier In Show. By the age of nine months, she had already earned her Companion Dog Certificate. Hailing from England, Sadie's parents were also champions in their own right.

Beyond her impressive accolades, Sadie was known for her nurturing nature, particularly as a devoted babysitter to the little ones in the family. Throughout her 11 years of life, Sadie left a lasting impact on her family, earning the most important title of her career, title of Best Family Dog.

Though Sadie may no longer be physically present, her memory continues to hold a special place in Rebecca's heart. At Indian Tree Animal Hospital, Sadie's legacy is honored through a cherished spot on our wall, serving as a reminder of the love and joy she brought to those around her.

Did you know that our feline patients are considered seniors around age 10, while dogs become seniors at 7 to 10 years of age, depending on their size? Providing care for our senior pets is not only crucial but also incredibly rewarding. As our beloved pets age, they require additional care and attention. Detecting diseases and signs of aging early on allows us to explore more treatment options.

We highly recommend annual or bi-annual exams to closely monitor various aspects of your pet's health, including joint health, dental health, eyesight, hearing changes, heart and lung function, overall comfort, any unusual lumps, and any changes you may have noticed at home. In addition to these routine exams, we often suggest specific tests to detect internal issues. These tests may include blood work, urinalysis, blood pressure checks, tonometry (eye pressure check), and x-rays of the heart and lungs. These tests help us evaluate the function of your pet's organ systems in a non-invasive manner.

As pets age, they can be adept at concealing health issues from their owners. We aim to be a valuable part of your team in identifying any concerns early on and providing you with a range of treatment options. Your pet's health and well-being are our top priorities, and we are here to support you every step of the way!
