On #NationalDogDay we’re honoring dogs that selflessly save lives, keep us safe, and bring us love and comfort. Dogs put their lives on the line every day to protect our families and homes, their law enforcement partner, their blind companion, the disabled, and victims of accidents and tragedy. So today we say THANK YOU to all the dogs out there! ♥🐶🐕🐩🐕🦺♥
Comment a picture of your dog to show them some extra appreciation today!
Pets can be curious, and sometimes that leads to swallowing indigestible objects which can result in a bowel or gastrointestinal obstruction.
The treatment for bowel obstruction can vary and depends on the severity of the condition. In some cases, a blockage may pass on its own. In others, surgery may be required.
Obstructions can be very serious and may even result in death, so it is important to go to the closest AUC location if you discover or suspect your pet swallowed something indigestible. All AUC locations are open 24/7/365 for pet emergencies.
Introducing the FIRST Parvovirus treatment: Canine Parvovirus Monoclonal Antibody (CPMA)! 🐾 AUC now carries CPMA at all three locations.
Parvo is a serious and common illness in puppies, especially since they often lack immunity if not fully vaccinated. If your puppy is showing symptoms like bloody diarrhea, lethargy, vomiting, or loss of appetite, please contact the nearest AUC location immediately.

Happy Hug Your Cat Day! 🐱 Did you know that there are scientifically-proven health benefits to cat ownership?
❣ Cat owners have a lowered risk of heart disease and stroke due to the relaxing effects felines have on their humans which minimizes stress and lowers blood pressure.
❣ A cat's purr creates vibrations at a frequency of 20-140 HZ, and studies have shown that frequencies in the 18-35 HZ range have a positive effect on human joint mobility after injury.
❣ If you spend 15-30 minutes a day petting or playing with your cat it can boost your mood! A result due to a rise in serotonin and a decrease in cortisol.
Showing your cat love and affection will let them know you care for them too - so give your cat extra lovin' today and give them a hug!

We recently had a very rare case of tetanus in our clinic.
Maggie is a one-year-old boxer who presented to us for a possible allergic reaction. On exam, our doctor found classic signs of tetanus. Including pinpoint pupils, facial paralysis, difficulty swallowing.
Thankfully we were able to get the antitoxin from Littleton Equine Medical Center. Maggie started to show significant improvement after administering the antitoxin. She is now recovering at home with her family.
Tetanus is rare in dogs because they have a natural resistance, so we do not have a vaccine.
Raven is a one-year-old lab that presented to us after biting into an albuterol inhaler. Unfortunately, this can cause severe side effects in dogs, such as increased heart rate, an imbalance of electrolytes, and tremors.
Raven stayed with us overnight on fluids, electrolyte supplementation, and medications to treat increased heart rate and tremors.
She recovered very well and went home the following day.
Kilo came into us for a possible laceration between his shoulders. He got out of the yard, and the owner noticed his wound when he got home. When we sedated Kilo for potential repair of his injuries, we did not find a laceration. Instead, we found possible dermatitis or old wounds. Our doctor applied a topical medication and sent additional home medications.
Kilo is now at home recovering.❤
