There are 2 entrances to the campus, the east entrance is for Terroux Dog Training, and the west entrance is for Ralston Valley Canine (there is signage at the entrances).

ATTENTION! FOXTAIL SEASON is upon us! July - October.
Find them along hiking trails, parks, near lakes with tall weeds, open spaces, and overgrown lawns. When the plants dry, they shed their seeds which are arrow-shaped allowing the seed to dig in and continue to dig in between your dog's toes, ears, nose, and get stuck in their coat making their way down into their skin. Check between your pup's paw pads, regularly brush coats and feel around for FOXTAIL seeds and remove them. If you can't remove it, it's time to see your veterinarian. Not treated can lead to infection.

Planning to travel with your dog internationally?
From August 1, 2024, Onward: WHAT YOUR DOG NEEDS TO ENTER (RE-ENTER) THE UNITED STATES. Starting on August 1, 2024, dogs entering or returning to the United States must meet new, specific requirements depending on where they have been in the 6 months before entering the U.S. and where they received their rabies vaccines (if required).
Follow this link to CDC.gov for details --> https://www.cdc.gov/.../dogs-entering-us-after-august-1.html

It's "Woody!" Our mascot welcoming you to RVC and helping to keep an eye on things -- this beautiful chainsawed and hand-carved sculpture created by Faye Braaten (a/k/a "The Chainsaw Mama)). This used to be what was left of an old tree we had to mostly cut down for safety and the RVC staff had the i...

Thanksgiving scraps quick tips!
The BIG DON'Ts:
1. Turkey drippings and turkey skin (greasy grill or oven drippings can cause pancreatitis!)
2. Turkey bones (bone ingestion, choking, and internal perforation risk)
3. Sugar-free substitutes: Xylitol, Birch Sugar (very toxic to dogs; liver failure)
4. Garlic and Onion (toxic to dogs, liver damage; avoid mushrooms, too)
5. Butter, and Seasonings (upset tummy, diarrhea; Nutmeg toxic)
6. Alcohol (alcohol poisoning, seizures, toxic to dogs)
7. Raisins (toxic to dogs)
8. Dark chocolate (Bakers [cooking] chocolate especially dangerous!)
Keep your dog clear of the kitchen while cooking to avoid consumption of toxic foods, falls, and sharps. Anything deemed "safe" should only be given in moderation (too much quantity and change in diet may result in upset tummy, or worse).

It pains us to post another "dog food warning" but important to get the word out. We don't know if these brands are sold locally; nonetheless, please be advised:

Multiple dog and cat food brands, including Victor Dog Food, are being recalled after seven cases of salmonella were reported, six of which were found in infants.

Permanent boundary (no “wait” or any other cue required) for situations such as this — propping the door open, so we can haul in Halloween decorations. Only an official release gives him permission to cross this boundary. Good boy

Is your dog a "stair-sitting" dog? These are our boys, Gryffin (black) and Odin (liver), Flat-coated retrievers -- often you will find them with their front feet on the floor while their behind sitting on the first step! Common reasons dogs choose to stair-sit: elevation and/or central view (a better view that's out of the way), you notice and admire them there, and it may be comfortable. 🐾🐾
