If you were lucky enough to know a great one, you know they never really leave.

Thank you for teaching me resilience and forgiveness. You are the greatest unexpected gift I’ve ever received. I’ll keep you alive in my heart every day.

I was fortunate to finally make the trek up to Vermont this weekend to honor Auggie and scatter his ashes in a meaningful space. 🖤

The art of watching the world go by!

Sky update!

I have been working with Sky for almost 3 weeks now and it’s been so cool to see so much progress, in such a short amount of time, for such a young dog.

Sky’s future is as a working dog, doing search and rescue and bite work but right now, we’re just trying to survive puppyhood and make sure she’s set up solid for her future career.

Currently, we’ve got this girl sitting and waiting at every crosswalk, checking in with eye contact when there is stimulus present, and walking in a heel when prompted. We practice NOT saying hi to every dog and person since she’s the friendliest and well socialized. Now, we’re working on our impulse control of staying still and not getting frustrated when we don’t greet. (This is extremely important so she doesn’t become leash reactive). Her name recognition is 🔥 , her recall has improved ten fold, and her touch cue is 💯

She is in the puppy phase of wanting to eat everything on the ground but has got a solid drop it and leave it command. This week she has truly found her voice and is vocal when she becomes frustrated or challenged.

She is the kind of dog that is affected by high arousal and needs to hone in on her self regulating and frustration tolerance skills.

We are currently working on building duration of neutrality in the crate / when being confined by playing crate games, using enrichment toys for positive reinforcement, feeding meals in the crate and doing micro durations in there to build tolerance.

She also learned “place” this week and is already killlling it with settling on cue. 👏🏻

In a few weeks, Sky will be going to boarding school to learn the tricks of her future trade for bite work and rescue work, on top of advanced obedience and so fourth!

We can’t wait to see what the future holds for this girl and how she progresses.

Play. Train. Toilet break. Nap. Eat. Repeat.

Meet Rue, a 4 month old chocolate lab x pointer mix. Rue is a working girl so it was important to hit the ground running at an early age with training! She loves the mental stimulation and challenges!

As this summer comes to a close, I cannot thank my clients enough for giving me a summer to remember. You guys kept us busy and on our toes every day.

I’d like to formally introduce Millie and Molly, because I feel they deserve a permanent spot on our feed. These two girls and their family touched my heart every time I worked with them. I am so grateful for our time together as summer comes to a close and we part ways.

These two were an adventure. We bonded, we learned, we had sleepovers, we conquered fears and challenges. I love when clients become like family. Truly a gift. 🫶🏻

Meet Zeke! We worked with him and his family for two sessions, just to get a handle on what we could be implementing to curb his teenager mischief and excited jumping. He’s got the most lovely temperament but just needs some manners.

Some owners work with us for months and years, others only need us for two weeks. We’re here and take on every case, big or small. 🫶🏻

BRITTANY ERICKSON

I started Good Boy Training after a internship with an American Kennel Club (AKC), Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT) on a farm in central New Jersey. I am a Animal Behavior College dog trainer (ABC-DT), a New Jersey Certified Animal Control Officer (ACO), a member of The Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) and Fear Free Pet Professionals. I am a certified level 3 animal Reiki practitioner. I am certified in Pet CPR & First Aid, and veterinarian recommended.

Humane, force-free training is an extremely important practice to me and one of my top priorities as a trainer. Having worked with many adult dogs who struggle with anxiety and reactivity issues, I have a special passion for working with puppies to prevent these issues from developing in the first place. My goal is to provide you with the tools you need to have the dog of your dreams!
