These trees already existed in the times of the Pharaohs, and are over 3,000 years old.
1. Vouves Olive Tree
The oldest olive tree in the world is over 3,000 years old. The tree is known as the “Vouves olive tree” and has a trunk measuring 12.5 m in circumference. The Vouves olive tree is around 3,350 years old and still bears fruit. In 1997, it was declared a protected natural monument.
2. Gran Abuelo
A tree in Chile may be the oldest on the face of the Earth. It is a specimen of the Fitzroya cupressoide species, whose popular name is Patagonian cypress or Patagonian larch. Known as "Gran Abuelo" ("Great-Grandfather" in Spanish) or Alerce Millennar, the tree may be 5,484 years old, according to a new study that has not yet been published.
3. General Sherman
General Sherman is a giant sequoia known for being the largest tree in the world. Its volume is estimated at 1,487 m³ and its age is between 2,300 and 2,700 years. Despite its volume, it is not one of the tallest trees in the world, having been estimated at 83.8 m tall, shorter than others in the park where it is located, Sequoia National Park, east of Visalia, in northern California.
4. Patriarch of the Forest
When its seed germinated in the soil of what is now the city of Santa Rita do Passa Quatro, in the interior of São Paulo, the world was a millennium away from the beginning of the Christian era; the Greek and Roman civilizations, pillars of Western culture, had not yet come into being. consolidated, and it would take 2500 years until the Portuguese ships arrived in Brazil. From this seed sprouted around the year 1000 BC the pink jequitibá that today is affectionately called Patriarca, due to its grandeur and for being the oldest Brazilian tree on record.

Chinese Fringetree (Chionanthus retusus) What kind of plant is as tough as nails, has beautiful foliage, snow-white flowers, and exfoliating bark? It's the Chinese bangs. It is native to Korea, China and Japan.
This easy-to-grow deciduous tree displays a showy, white, clustered flower that appears in fringes each spring. While the male plant has brighter flowers than the female, the attractive fruits that birds and some mammals use as a food source only appear on the female plant... 🤍💚

I was riding on the winding forest tracks of Lake Nakuru National Park (Kenya). Menacing black clouds were looming and rain was becoming imminent. I was chasing the national park's famous pride of tree-climbing lions when I chanced upon this lion resting behind a dead tree. I prayed that he would climb the dead tree and provide some unique photo opportunities. As I waited patiently, it started to rain and the drizzle quickly turned into a heavy downpour. I feared that the lion would continue to stay behind the dead tree, sheltered from the rain. Time and light were starting to run out. While rain adds drama, it also depletes natural light, especially under the canopy of a woodland forest. Luckily for me, patience paid off and there was a brief window of opportunity when the king took his throne, allowing me to capture a rather ethereal moment.

This is what a King looks like in his last moments of life!
The scene was captured by photographer Larry Pannell, who published this shocking photograph in 2018.
"We found him lying in the grass, exhausted and unable to move. We were no more than five feet from him as he lay dying in the shade of a tree. Dropping my camera we stared at one another locking eyes for what seemed for an eternity. I just wanted him to know that he would not die alone as he struggled to breath, his chest rising only every so often. Then a last twitch of an ear, his last breath, he was gone. The King was dead."

The olive tree of Vouves, on Crete. This tree, which has a trunk 15 feet in diameter, is at least 2,000 years old, and likely 2,900 years older, based on the graveyard found nearby. This tree likely lived through the writing of the Iliad, the golden age of Athens, the rise & fall of the Roman Empire, the birth of Christ, it lived during the time of mastodons, the Aztecs - and then lived for 2,000 years after that. It still produces olives

This sheep dog is covered in his own blood after fighting off wolves protecting his flock, while the sheep gently comforts him. Regardless of how physically strong or emotionally tough someone is, showing them how much you appreciate their efforts goes a long way. The dog is willing to die for his sheep, and the gesture of the sheep comforting him is all he needs. Never take someone for granted who is willing to fight for you or stand by you in your time of need. Appreciate their efforts and show them that you are grateful!
