Good morning FB family! Sorry for being MIA the last couple of days. We had to make a run to Asheville to get my truck and bring it back down to bama so I can haul supplies tomorrow! So blown away by the love and support. I’ve been able to raise $1,940 to aid in purchasing and running supplies to WNC! Thank you to all who have contributed and continue to do so!

Y’all the love is pouring in! I have received word from my friend and former co-worker Brittney that Goodwin Animal Hospitals will being joining the effort and collecting supply donations as well! I am overwhelmed with gratitude! ❤️🥹🐾

I just received news that the Elmore County schools in AL will be collecting donations for me to bring to WNC! This is huge, they have 17 campuses with 11,000 students! I am beyond words. The generosity of this community has me in tears. 🥹

Huge thank you to all of you that have shared my posts and donated especially to Woody Thornton for his amazing generosity in lending us his trailer to transport supplies back to WNC!
Donations are starting to roll in! We have raised over $1000 at this point! I will begin purchasing supplies in the next couple of days. I know we can fill this trailer together! Please keep sharing these posts! I will be sharing photos of the progress as it happens. Much love y’all!!

CALL TO ACTION!!!!
if you do not live in Western North Carolina, and you would like to aid in the effort, but you yourself may not have the resources to do so please consider reaching out to your local schools, churches, vet, clinics, government agencies, shelters, etc. I’ve been on the phone all day in the great state of Alabama and have managed to get several school districts involved as well as several churches involved with collecting donations. If you have a voice and you have a phone please start calling people start asking for help! The worst thing they can do is say no the best thing they can do is say yes you won’t know until you try.
If you are in Central Alabama or North Alabama, and you have donations that you would like to get to Western North Carolina. I am happy to link up with you to collect the supplies and deliver them as I will be making several trips back-and-forth over the coming weeks.

Dear Kay Nine's Clients,
I regret to inform you that though we thankfully did not sustain damages due to the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene in Buncombe County, my grooming salon will be unable to open as we currently do not have water or power. The reopened date is currently unknown, but I will keep you posted as I know more.
If you had an appointment scheduled with me already, you are on a waitlist to be informed upon our opening. If you would like to be added to the waitlist, you may contact me through this message thread.

Hello friends! I'm currently accepting grooming appointments at my home in West Asheville. I've been unable to drive due to health issues, so I'm making the best of it by opening up my books for you. Our appointments are still private and quick in the grooming trailer, and I live near lots of great coffee shops and holiday shopping spots, so you can shop or sip while you wait. I just was to say thank you to my wonderful clients! It’s been a bit of a rough week for A Cut Above, between mechanical malfunctions and getting sick last week (not COVID btw, we got tested to be sure).
I was blown away with how understanding everyone has been and even more so taken back by the fact that just about every client I had to reschedule has checked in on me and my family to see how we were doing. I feel so blessed and appreciated by y’all. Just wanted to let you guys know how much it means to me! 🥰🥰🥰 Thank you for the love and support.
I am feeling better and ready to get back to work! Can’t wait to see all my sweet pups!

This year has been one of the hardest I’ve had when it comes to losing my sweet sweet babies. I’ve had to say good bye to three of my favorite girl that I have groomed for years. I cherish the time I get to spend with all of my puppies but these girls really stole my heart. I’m so grateful to have known these pups and their owners. I will miss them dearly. Rest easy my sweet Coco Puff , Tsuki ( tuk tuk/toucan), and Lily billy! I love you!!!

During this shut down I know that a lot of people are worried about their pets maintenance, so I decided to make a post with a little bit of advice.
Since we’re all home and have lots of free time to spend with our fur babies, it’s a great time to bond through preventative maintenance. Sit down on the floor with your pup while watching Netflix and give them a good brushing a couple times a week. This will do wonders at getting your dog through the next few weeks before the grooming shops open again. Also, try taking them on walks where there is concrete to help wear their nails down so they don’t get out-of-control. If you bathe your dog at home please remember that they need to be brushed out before and after their bath and that water will make tangles tighter. If you have a bad tangle on your dog and are having trouble getting it out try putting a little cornstarch on it, this will help loosen it, making it able to brushed out, if it’s not already too tight. 
I don’t normally recommend trying to groom your dog yourself because it can be dangerous and you could injure your dog if not properly trained. However, if you feel compelled at this time to try and cut your own dog’s hair, I would recommend looking up a few different YouTube videos about grooming safety.
