MDWFP reminds you to get your applications in for 2025 Youth Squirrel Hunts!

Youth squirrel hunts will be back on February 1, 2025, and are a great way to introduce topics like wildlife conservation, hunting ethics, wildlife biology, and firearm safety. This is a free opportunity for youth participants between the ages of 10 & 15 - guns and ammunition are provided. ⁠

Last night, hunter did everything the right way! He didn't feel great about the shot so he took pictures of the arrow and backed out , and gave us a call. We came up with a time to meet and he stayed out until we got there. Bobby Ray made quick work of a roughly 450 yard track and recovered what seemed to be a single lung shot buck. This buck went up and down some pretty steep hollars before the shot caught up to him. Bobby Ray's still working on taking good pictures as you can see!! Lol. When in doubt back out and give us a call!!
