Maple is a 3-year-old Great Pyrenees who recently received collaborative care from our expert caregivers at MedVet Asheville.

Maple’s family brought her to our ER after she was lethargic and unwilling to eat for three days. Our dedicated team quickly evaluated her and performed abdominal radiographs (X-rays) that revealed the presence of free gas in Maple’s abdomen, indicating septic peritonitis.

Dr. MacKenzie Whyte and our skilled surgery team performed a resection and anastomosis procedure, removing the compromised portion of Maple's GI tract. Throughout her recovery, our dedicated ICU team provided round-the-clock care and support.

After a week of intensive treatment, Maple made an incredible recovery and returned home to her loving family. We're delighted to share that she is currently thriving and enjoying life to the fullest!
