Covid-19 Update from wnck9.com

Hello Western North Carolina,

Here is another WNC K9 update (04-14-2020) on the COVID-19 … I hope this finds all of you well.

Everything has changed and I am trying to adapt and surrender to the on going changing environmental regulations by County and State authorities.

In order to have the minimum person to person contact, as of Monday, March 16, I have made the decision to suspend all group classes for an indefinite period of time.

How long? Well, that will depend on how this health crisis unfolds, I guess. Right now, I’m understanding and anticipating it may be 6-8 weeks.

The beauty is that it is quite easy for us to continue to meet via distance — through online dog training and behavior sessions. All you need is a computer and Wifi connection — a laptop has a we**am already for you.

I can walk you through it if you are not comfortable. There is no fancy or expensive technology needed to do a virtual session. If you have a laptop with a we**am or a smartphone or tablet and internet connection, you are all set. There is a free, easy to download video chat software we use called, Zoom.us.

Please call me at 828-712-4245 or email me at [email protected] when and if you are ready to train and I can talk to you about the process.

If you want to know, here is what the CDC says about pets.

Also, if you are looking for ways to ease your frustration and stress concerning the COVID-19 here are some things to consider:

— Spending time with your dog can ease a person’s anxiety and stress.

— Take frequent breaks from house projects and social media by taking your dog for

an inSNIFFigation walk!

— Pack a snack and venture out to an open outdoor area with your dog… enjoy

nature and the beautiful mountains we live in.

— If you have training games to play, find a few minutes each day to play games

with your dog. If you are in need of some games, contact me.

I have used zoom.us to stay in contact with family and friends as well as hold 30 minute private consultations. I am currently using it to have the March K9 Manners Level One class.

Please … please reach out if you are in need of some guidance right away. I will be in touch again with some options for a video conference that with be much more economical. I promise to make the most out of this situation.

In the meantime, rest well. Stay engaged with your dog. Turn off the news and practice self care by tuning into your dog, and I’ll see you soon!

As I heard Dr. Deborah Birx last Monday, March 16 talk logically and authentically about the treat we (a world) are under, I sit here thinking that the mountains represent wellness to me — we are healthy and in a season where we do not have a lot of tourist — thank God. But to hear Dr. Birx speak about the data and our responsibility to help stop the spread of this invisible virus, I finally get it.

I’m not sure if you heard her speak, but she brought forth the process that leaders are taking with the recent data from around the globe, she talked about what we can do in our smaller communities to have the biggest impact to stop the spread of this sad situation we (the people) find ourselves in. Looking at the scientific evidence is the same way I come up with the training games we play in class, so I started to really listen when Dr. Birx talked about the scientific evidence and decided to cancel classes for two.

Her clarity hit me as she talked about the efforts we (a nation) can take. She wanted us — every single american to step up and take the responsibility and make sacrifices to ensure the health safety of our community — in my small world, the dog community.

I always say to people to take care of yourself because our dogs need you. That is the truth as I look around at my 4-legged crew …

With that said WNC K9 will be canceling all classes for two weeks.
I still will be implementing preventative measures to maintain a clean, healthy environment at A Good Dog’s Life Training Center (as well as all the other trainers renting that space) so you can feel safe and comfortable during any class or private lesson.

There are some of you that are wanting private lessons and I plan on fulfilling those needs in the coming days.
We will continue your class. If you need help with anything at the house, we can use video conferencing to talk and demo things. Please reach out and I’ll send you a meeting invite through Zoom.us.

If you have a need, a question, please… please contact me.

After a great deal of thought we are going to move forward with finding a FOREVER family for Drake. It breaks our heart, but we do not have the capacity to care for 5 Bloodhounds. Drake is from our 2018 AKC litter and turning 6 months old on Saturday and was returned to us by his owners! He is amazingly sweet and smart!

If you are interested in Drake, send an email to [email protected] or call 8286915412

Additional photos in the comment section.
He was puppy Black&White collar if you want to see his puppy videos/ photos they are still on our timeline born 9-9-2018.
