🐾 Meet Bear! 🐾

Bear is an 11-month-old neutered male Plott Hound from hunting lines, but he's grown up in a cozy house in a residential neighborhood. 🏡 He hasn’t had any hunting training, so he's all about that home life!

Bear is a bundle of joy – happy, excited, playful, and super smart! 🐕💡 He's got a big, vocal personality and is crate trained. While he can be a bit anxious, he’s been working hard on “settle” and “leave it” to encourage calmness. 🍖 Positive reinforcement with treats works wonders for him! He’s quick to bark and shows some reactivity to other dogs on leash, but he’s making great progress in his training. 🐶🎓

Bear thrives with a structured day: multiple short walks, plenty of time to sniff and run in the yard, and quiet time in his crate. 🌳🏃‍♂️ His current owners’ work schedules and other pets make it tough to maintain this structure, so they’re looking for a new home where Bear can get the attention and space he needs.

Wandering Wags

Pack Walks for Current Clients

We offer 1-2 exciting outings each month at various locations, providing fantastic opportunities for real-world training with the Ruff Life pack.

To schedule a Pack Walk through the portal, follow these steps:

Click on "Book," select your pup, and then choose "Start Booking."
Under the Booking Category, select "Appointments."
Locate "Pack Walks" on the menu and select "Wandering Wags."
Navigate to the "Dates" page and choose the event date you wish to attend.
After selecting the date, click on Tessa's name and pick a time slot (green indicates availability; grey means the event is fully booked).
Review your request and click "Submit Request."

Westfelt Park Description:
This park offers access to the French Broad River with a floating boat ramp. This section of the river is a slow-moving, sometimes shallow section of the river that is more ideal for kayaks, canoes and stand up paddleboards, you might even see some wildlife! Nearby river put-ins are at Horse Shoe Bend River Access Park (11 miles upstream), Lazy Otter Outfitters (7 miles upstream) and Bent Creek River Park (8.5 miles downstream.)
The park also offers a few walking paths, picnic tables and an open field area. The boat ramp is a good spot to fish.
Suggested paddle trip: start at Westfeldt Park and paddle to Firefighter Island (7 miles downstream), which is a secluded-feeling island on the left side of the river. When the water is low, go around the left side of the island and access from the downstream end of the island. When water is higher, you can go around either side and access from the lower end of the island. Continue downstream to Bent Creek River Park to exit the river.

Say hello to Burlap, a super cool 1-year-old, neutered male Bluetick Coonhound weighing in at 60 lbs! 🐶✨ He’s up-to-date on all his vaccines and ready to find his new forever home. 🏡💉

Burlap’s favorites include peanut butter 🥜, long hikes 🚶‍♂️, hanging out with his daycare pals 🐾, and, of course, turning stuffed animals into confetti! 🎈🧸💥

He’s looking for a loving home without other dogs or kids 🐕🚫👶. Ideally, his new owner would be experienced, possibly live outside the city 🌳, and be ready for some serious training and exercise to keep his sharp mind and playful energy in check! 🏞️💪

Burlap’s current humans are rehoming him because he’s not a fan of their two small dogs 🐶🐶. He’s got a bit of a resource guarding habit at home (mainly food and beds) 🍽️🛏️, but he’s a total sweetheart everywhere else—no issues at training or daycare! 🎓🏠

He’s a clever cookie 🍪, knows basic commands, and is house-trained! 🚽🏡 Plus, he’s got the goofiest personality 😜, the floppiest ears 👂👂, and gives the most heart-melting cuddles! 💕🥰 Burlap loves chasing the raccoon next door 🦝, rocking cowboy hats 🤠, playing tug-of-war 🪢, scent training 🕵️‍♂️, and basking in the sunshine ☀️.

Oh sweet Finnegan! 🐶 Working with Finnegan and his owner has been very rewarding. Finnegan has a hard time navigating the world sometimes as he can be reactive and insecure.
