We are always soo happy to see friends, new and old 🐾

One great benefit of using our micro kennel for daycare and boarding is the personal touch. We may not be able to house as many pups in one night as some but since we keep our crowds small; we are able to give each dog the individual attention that they need to thrive, even when they are away from their humans.

Hand stripping is not just for the little ones! Hand stripping is beneficial for all wire coated breeds because it helps maintain the coat’s natural texture and appearance. It also helps the coat maintain its’ rich natural colors.

We are so happy that we are boarding again! We missed all of our sleepover buddies! Thank you all for working with us and allowing our overnight staff to have a good solid month off as we hired some more help and got everything set for slumber parties to start again! 🦴

Did you know if you add a service like a nail trim or a face trim on a daycare day, you will get 2 free hours of daycare? Feel free to ask on the morning of dropping off to add a quick service to any play day! 🐾

We know it can sound pretty crazy when our customers come in; everyone gets super excited and wants to say hello. Folks ask me if it’s always like that and sometimes, they seem surprised when I say no but there are also really sweet peaceful moments here at the salon too. I love moments like this, in the afternoon when the sun is out and the pups are tired from playing all morning and they all stretch out and sunbathe together 🥹🐾

We believe in pampering every pet that comes in for a groom so each full groom includes a thorough bath with top quality shampoo and the option of conditioner, as well as nail trim, ear cleaning and/or plucking, and a**l gland expression so not only are you paying for a great quality salon cut, we can ensure that your pup is getting the works when they are here during their salon experience.

If your pup needs extra attention in certain areas or needs a little extra love and patience during the grooming process, we are happy to accommodate their needs to make grooming a pleasant experience for them! 💕

Hi, my name is Zachary. This is my first job but I have experience volunteering at a local dog rescue. I am currently in High School and I love to create art and some of my artwork was actually on display in the Asheville art museum. I have been around dogs my whole life and I have my own pup at home named Percy so I am excited to get to work with dogs and make friends with yours!

We’re so excited to start having sleepovers again on August 1st!

Thank you all for working with us this month on prompt pick up times at the end of the day and our slightly stricter schedule. Our overnight staff starts again in less than two weeks!

Here’s a breakdown of our updated boarding prices:
Up to 35 pounds $48 per night
36-60 pounds $55 per night
61-85 pounds $60 per night
Over 85 pounds $68 per night

We also strongly encourage those who may need boarding on holidays to let us know as quickly as possible because those spaces get filled fast!

This is Sam, one of our new daycare staff. This is Sam’s first job and he started here at HOTD this spring for volunteer work for his high school. When school let out for the summer, he decided to come work for us during the summer. Sam bring a calm, gentle energy that definitely helps the dogs. He loves playing with the dogs and spending time outside with them! In addition, he is a great support staff for our groomers, helping with the cleaning and chores around the shop.

This is a gentle reminder that we will be closed for boarding during July. During this month, there will also be no daycare on Sundays since no overnight staff will be working. We will be returning in August with adjusted boarding prices with some fresh faces in our crew to help!

Hair of the Dog Pet Salon is currently hiring for Overnight Staff.

HoTD is a cage-free pet salon that provides grooming and daycare services 6 days a week as well as overnight boarding 7 days a week. Cage-free means that our dog clients are not kept in kennels or cages while they are here; they are free roaming around the work space of the facility and have constant access to a fenced play area.

The overnight staff position entails supervising the dogs after hours, feeding and medicating as instructed evening and morning, keeping the shop clean after cleaning team finishes, and reporting all dog behaviors to the day shift staff as needed. There is an “apartment” on site where attendant may cuddle with pups and sleep. Most of your time on this shift is free time to just hang out with the boarding dogs. No experience is needed for this position, but must love dogs! This position’s hours are 6pm to 8am on weekdays and 5pm to 9am on weekends. Pay is formulated based on day of week and number of dogs(15 max) in care but should average $150-$275 per night. Number of nights is flexible.
These shifts will not begin until August 1.

This month is our 25th Anniversary!
Can you believe that we have been open for 25 years?! So many cute faces and sweet pups. We have watched so many grow and got to be a part of so many lives!

Hi, my name is Charlie, and this is my first job, but I've been working with dogs my whole life. My parents are in the petfood industry, and so I've grown up surrounded by dogs every second. A few summers ago, I did an internship at a canine rehabilitation and conditioning facility, so I know how to care for them. I currently have two standard poodles named Moose and Bunny, so I love anything poodle. I look forward to working with all of your dogs!

Hair of the Dog is looking for a motivated individual for a receptionist position at Hair of the Dog! HoTD is a cage-free pet salon that provides grooming and daycare services 6 days a week as well as boarding 7 days a week. Cage-free means that our dog clients are not kept in kennels or cages while they are here; they are free roaming around the work space of the facility and have constant access to a fenced play area.

The perfect applicant will be good at customer service with the ability to multitask and keep up with a fast paced, energetic environment. They will be responsible for checking dogs in and out of the facility, take grooming instructions from owners, scheduling appointments & reservations, updating vaccination records & creating boarding run cards via our computer system, Gingr. They will need to be comfortable communicating with clients via phone calls,text messages, emails and in person. They will also be in charge of monitoring the play areas by walking around when possible and/or monitoring of security camera and accessing any playbacks for events that need reviewing during the shift. During slower times, they will also help with daycare duties such as vacuuming, laundry, feeding dogs and general housekeeping around the shop.

Must love dogs! There are typically 20-40 dogs here per day for grooming, daycare, and boarding. Experience with dogs is preferred but a love of dogs is definitely required. Chosen individual will be responsible for helping all other staff monitor the dog population and need to be comfortable with using verbal commands. HoTD will provide on the job training for a**lyzing dog behavior and communication and will need to be open to working around dogs of all sizes, breeds and temperaments.
Schedule is flexible and hourly pay starts at $15/hr. Experience may deem higher starting pay.
