Meet Monk 🐶
Nicknames: Monkey, Monk-Monk, Mon 🐾
Breed: Estrela Mountain Dog 🐕
Hobbies: Going to breweries and kissing babies 🍻🍼
Favorite snack: Hot dogs and cheese 🌭🧀
Favorite toy: My miniature schnauzer brother, Patch!!! Or Lamb Chop 🦴
Favorite place: Highland Brewery 🍺

Why Monk Donates Blood: 🩸
My big schnauzer sister, Millie, had AIHA and needed two blood transfusions. Thanks to those transfusions—and her incredible doctors—she was able to live a full, happy life.

Because someone else gave blood, my family got more time with Millie. So my mom and dad thought it would be amazing to help other families going through medical issues, just like someone once helped us.

Meet Axle! SAVES Patient of the Month for June!

Axle is back for follow-up care after undergoing TPLO surgery earlier this year to stabilize his knee.

Today, he received a recheck radiograph and a repeat ACP (platelet-rich plasma) injection in his right shoulder to support joint health.

ACP therapy is a form of regenerative medicine that uses a patient’s own concentrated platelets to help reduce inflammation, promote healing, and improve comfort in joints.

SAVES ER SPOTLIGHT:
This is Tum — and boy, did he have a backup situation. Poor guy came in totally plugged up and not feeling his best. After three days of TLC, fluids, and encouragement (and maybe a pep talk or two), Tum finally did what he came here to do... he pooped. Not only did he leave us feeling much lighter, but he was eating like a king and strutted out the door ready to take on the world — one litter box at a time. Great job, Tum!

At just one year old, Maude has already proven she’s a fighter!

A recent survivor of Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP)—a once-fatal viral disease that attacks a cat’s organs—Maude faced another scare when she arrived at SAVES in respiratory distress.

Our team quickly stabilized her, ruled out heart failure, and gave her the support she needed to head back home the very next day. 💛

We’re so grateful her family trusted us in a moment of crisis—and even more grateful to see Maude thriving.

🚨 Have an emergency? We’re here 24/7 to help—no appointment needed. Give us a a call at (828) 210-8285!
