Lots of sickness going around and I needed an extra boost today. I harvested some fig leaves and elderberries then dried the fig leaves for tea and boiled the elderberries for syrup. Both were deeply nourishing.
One way I keep the joy of homesteading alive and avoid burnout is to process small batches of things when I can fit it in and when I need them or am inspired by them. I only gathered 20 fig leaves and 1/2 cup of elderberries because that felt doable. Small output, big impact.
Rhubarb season! These roasted rhubarb slices almost didn’t make it into the scones they were so tasty by themselves.

We only grew one tiny watermelon this year 😆 but it was worth it for the rind alone — such a treat for the goats!

Made a batch of goat milk yogurt last night. It’s incredible. Naturally I needed some granola to add and since @terianncarty just posted her Pecan Pumpkin Pie Granola recipe I had to try it. Look at those huge chunks! It came out beautifully. #nigeriandwarfgoats #goatyogurt #homemadeyogurt #vegetarianhomestead #homemadegranola #homemadefood #goatmilk #goatmilking
Garden salad just got elevated!

Comfrey snack! A perk of an overgrown weedy garden is the ease of chop and drop. But before these chopped leaves go back on the garden beds as a top dressing, the goats can have their fill.

Top notch snuggles this morning
