Someone needs a new boyfriend in their life. Is it you?
Come volunteer with the whole family - thereâs something for everyone to do at Cheatham County Animal Control.
Update: REGISTRATION IS FULL. All registrants will be contacted within 3 days to confirm details and payment. Some may be on a waitlist. Thank you to our community for showing up for your pets!
Today is the day! Below you will find the link to the registration form for the September 23, 2024 spay and neuter day for Cheatham county dogs. We expect this to fill up quickly, and please know that your registration is NOT confirmed until you are contacted by a volunteer by phone to review everything and submit payment.
Why does the surgery only cost $40? Great question! Our partnering non-profit org Cheatham County PAWS receives grants and private donations to supplement the total cost of your dogâs surgery. So while your portion is only $40, your pet receives a quality surgery performed by a licensed veterinarian. Thank you Cheatham County PAWS!
If you don't snag a spot for September 23, know that we have one more 2024 spay and neuter day planned for December 2. We also have the yearâs final community cat surgery day planned for October 7! Thank you for caring for your pets by spaying and neutering!

Moe is shocked! The shelter is running low on bones that we provide to all our fosters. You can help by visiting the Amazon Wish List link in our bio.
Friday favorites! Hard to pick just three of our adoptable animals but these are the three featured today!
đž Flex! Flex is, in a word, fabulous! His is 18 months old and weighs 72 pounds.
Flex is so handsome with his chestnut color coat and beautiful, expressive eyes
This charming canine has a bouncy, happy-go-lucky, goofy personality that endears him to everyone he meets! His happy doggy face looks like she is smiling at you!
He is a very enthusiastic companion on his daily walks and will go for as long as you want. Flex loves to explore the trails on our beautiful shelter grounds and is so interested in his surroundings. He would be a fine hiking or running buddy, too.
đž Bella! She is two years old and weighs 50 pounds. Bella has one of those happy doggy faces that looks like she is smiling, and you can't help smile back! If you want to adopt a medium sized companion, Bella could be the one.
Bella is always ready to accompany you on a walk and is a fun companion. She also loves to play in the fenced yard. Once Bella is done, she will flop on the grass to hang out with you to enjoy the day together. She will also roll around and kick up her legs in utter joy - we adore seeing her have such a great time!
đž Rocky! Rocky is a one year old, 60 pound sweetheart. He is such a happy, energetic and active young dog who loves everyone!
Rocky adores his time outdoors, and would do great in a home with a fenced yard where he can get the exercise he needs. He absolutely loves to play and zooms around in total joy. Rocky is also an enthusiastic companion on daily walks, and he is so curious about his surroundings. He would be a great hiking or running buddy, too.
One of Rocky's favorite things to do is having a game of tug of war. He also loves to play with toys.
This week, features our first dog to go to Lucky Pup Rescue - sheâs living her best life at the beach on Cape Cod.
Cheatham County Animal Control, in partnership with CASA Clinic, Cheatham County PAWS, and local volunteers will be hosting its second low cost spay and neuter day for resident Cheatham County dogs on September 23, 2024.
The cost will be $40 per dog, limit two per household (Cheatham County residents only). Please check the program requirements below to see if you qualify, and watch for the registration link to be posted HERE on this page next Monday, September 9 at 8:00am. For questions, please call or text 321-480-6716.
We are thrilled to again be able to offer this needed service to the public.
Happy Labor Day! The shelter will close at noon today to observe the holiday. We could use all the volunteers we can get between 10-12. Please come out if you are able!
They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Peyton came to the shelter as a terrified pup who hadnât had much human contact. She was very stressed in the kennel environment and was nearly as terrified when we got her on a foster home (before pic). After MONTHS of patient volunteers who sat with her, earned her trust, and remained consistent, sheâs a totally different dog. The picture on the right is from August - she led a volunteer to the play yard, picked out a ball, played fetch, and then plopped down and rolled over for belly rubs.
Volunteers REALLY make a difference. Peyton has gone from terrified to an adoptable, loving dog. Check out more information in the linktree link to Petfinder.

KITTENS AT PET SUPERMARKET TODAY!!
These are just a few of the kittens who will make their way to Pet Supermarket, located at 8030 Hwy 100 in Bellevue today! We will be there at 11 and stay until 2, and kittens will be just $15, CASH or CHECK! They do so great with a companion, that we are offering a second kitten at no additional cost! That's right -- you may adopt 2 fixed, vaccinated, and socialized kittens for just $15. If you have priced spay and neuter procedures lately, you will realize what a truly great bargain this is! Kittens are first come, first adopt. Please BRING a CARRIER if you have one. We do have a limited number of box carriers that can be purchased for an additional $5. We are sure hoping all find great homes today so we can bring in some of the many more homeless kittens out there! Also, please SPAY & NEUTER your animals!! đžâ¤đž
Mayday, mayday! We are out of Fancy Feast kitten food! This is our most used brand of wet kitten food, and we sure need it this week - a total of 68 kittens will be returning this week for their spay/neuter surgery, so that's a whole lot of hungry mouths.
Thankfully, we are all set on adult food! But kittens need the extra fat & calories, especially when recovering from surgery. We also welcome other brands of wet kitten food, and dry Purina Kitten Chow!

One of our volunteers took Cyrus on a field trip. This is what she had to say: Yesterday my sister and I took Cyrus on a hike to Hidden Lake, a walk through Home Depot, and took him shopping for treats at PetSmart đś I think he had a great day! Heâs kind of like that friend on vacation who just goes along with the plans and has fun no matter what. We met all kinds of people, kids, and dogs throughout the day. He showed mild interest in meeting humans but mostly just sniffed, allowed a pet or two, and then wanted to move on. His ears would perk up when he saw a dog but he wouldnât try to approach nor did he bark one time the whole day! When we were at Home Depot I almost forgot he was with us (not really!), he just sits so calmly by your side, never needs redirection, matches your energy. He would be a very easy dog to have as a companion!

Chippy was a puppy found on the side of the road in Cheatham County. His leg was so badly broken that he needed an amputation. Not to worry because he is already feeling so much better! He will be just fine with three legs! Thanks to our donors, SCAMP had the money to pay for this surgery. Chippy will be available for adoption through Cheatham County Animal Control in Pegram, TN. 615-792-3647. #adoptashelterpet #adoptdontshop #nashville #cheathamcounty #tripod
Our dogs continue to amaze us as we learn more about them. Yesterday in play group, we watched Gibby do something very interesting. He was playing with two other females who were pretty keyed up, and Gibby would intentionally slow down the pace of play by putting himself in the middle and steering the girls apart. He was an expert at keeping the play from escalating, in fact he handled it far better than we mere humans could have done. Thatâs a special kind of dog who can steer the play dynamic! But of course we already knew that Gibby is a star. He is also kid friendly and just a loving boy who has waited too long. Please come meet Gibby at CCAC. Itâs time!
Thoughts as we enter the evening on Giving Tuesday. Please listen to hear what itâs all about! We are so close to our goal! https://givingtuesday.mightycause.com/story/Scamp4kitties
