2. SCAMP will be transparent about how much money we have, need, and have spent.

We hope everyone is safe after last night’s storms. With more on the way, here are some tips to keep your pets safe:

1. Provide a safe space
2. Reduce stress and anxiety by using calm music, white noise, or games
3. Prevent escape and injury - maybe leash walking for potty breaks if your pet is easily startled.
4. Talk to your Vet if your pet is especially anxious.

Local elementary school students are teaming up with CCAC to create one-of-a-kind dog portraits based on your submitted photos! These sweet, silly, and totally charming drawings make an unforgettable gift for the dog-loving mom (or any dog fan) in your life.

Here’s how it works:
- Fill out the form and submit a photo of your dog by April 1s and Donate $25 to SCAMP https://tinyurl.com/MothersDayDogPortrait

- Local kids will turn your photo into a whimsical work of art

- Pick up your finished portrait at CCAC the week before Mother’s Day

All proceeds go to SCAMP to support Cheatham County Animal Control!

When we say we have some of the best volunteers on the planet, we meant it. Recently, we had an auction to benefit Saving Cheatham Animals: Mission PAWSible - SCAMP. Local artist sandragriggssmiley volunteered her talent, and Karen Lynn Menzyk won the auction. In true volunteer fashion, Karen chose to honor another volunteer, Minnie Beasley, with not one but two portraits! Both Sophie (cocker spaniel) and Teddy (with the bandana) were adopted from CCAC.

40 community cats were fixed, vaccinated, and ear tipped today thanks to another successful SCAMP-sponsored TNR event. Huge shout out to our volunteers who make it happen, and CASA Clinic for providing excellent medical care.

We are looking to recruit new volunteers to join the TNR event team. No experience necessary! Please text (615) 510-7716 if you’d like to help make a difference in the homeless population of cats in Cheatham County, and meet some great people while doing it.

We will be taking some great dogs to Tractor Supply Co. in Ashland City on Sunday the 16th from 11 to 2 where they can be adopted on site. During that time we will have reduced fees of just $25 cash or check. We will also be on hand to discuss volunteering, fostering, and transporting with us! We hope to see you there!

Meet Little Boy, a darling 5 year old orange kitty currently at Cheatham County Animal Control. Little Boy needs our help to fix his gums and teeth. Poor buddy needs to get all of his teeth extracted and, as you can imagine, it’s a pretty expensive surgery. SCAMP is going to take care of the bill, but we rely on donations and fundraising to help animals like Little Boy when the shelter budget isn’t enough to cover the need. Best news though is that Little Boy is expected to be just fine and will be able to be adopted by someone soon! One of our volunteers took Cyrus on a field trip. This is what she had to say: Yesterday my sister and I took Cyrus on a hike to Hidden Lake, a walk through Home Depot, and took him shopping for treats at PetSmart 🐶 I think he had a great day! He’s kind of like that friend on vacation who just goes along with the plans and has fun no matter what. We met all kinds of people, kids, and dogs throughout the day. He showed mild interest in meeting humans but mostly just sniffed, allowed a pet or two, and then wanted to move on. His ears would perk up when he saw a dog but he wouldn’t try to approach nor did he bark one time the whole day! When we were at Home Depot I almost forgot he was with us (not really!), he just sits so calmly by your side, never needs redirection, matches your energy. He would be a very easy dog to have as a companion!
