FOTAS - Friends of the Animals We are always looking for volunteers who would like to work with the animals, with potential adopters, and with the public (such as education in schools).

Friends of the Animals is a 501c3 organization that improves the quality of life for animals in Southern Oregon by facilitating adoptions, medical care, education, & resources to our community. Friends of the Animals (FOTAS) provides volunteers and funding to increase pet adoption, improve the quality of life for adoptable animals, promote spay/neuter, and participate in outreach and educational a

ctivities regarding responsible pet guardianship and animal welfare. And, of course we are always looking for funding to support those programs. Tax-deductible donations may be made through our website, www.fotas.org or by mailing a check to: FOTAS, PO Box 1153, Ashland, OR 97520. Thank you!

Meet Penelope, a 1-year-old Rottweiler mix full of energy and love!
Here’s what her foster has to say about her, “Penelope is a bundle of sweetness, exuberance, joy and affection all wrapped into a darling 50 pound bundle. She loves frolicking in the great outdoors, car rides, and snuggling in front of the fire. She is a quick learner and has mastered many skills. After just three weeks together she has settled into our home seamlessly. Penelope will be a perfect companion for an active family who has a lot of love to give and is open to receiving it tenfold!”
If you are looking for a best friend to join you on all your outdoor adventures, Penny is the girl for you!

The handsome and Dobby!
Dobby is a 1-year-old Greyhound mix looking for his forever family! He is smart, silly, and a joy for his foster family to have around! Here is what they have to say about Dobby, “He loves chasing a good tennis ball, checks in on his humans often while throwing a ball to himself or gnawing on a bone. He is a shy boy, and takes his time meeting and greeting new people, and does better with older children. He does have great doggy communication skills and likes a good game of chase. He listens very well to ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘out of the kitchen’, ‘leave it’, and ‘heel’, though there are still (plenty) of times his teenage brain gets in the way of his ears. He LOVES car rides! Overall a lovable bundle of fun!”

He loves to play tug and fetch and will bring a toy to his person to initiate playtime. Beau is house trained, crate trained and knows the commands “sit” and “lay down”, he is learning “stay”, and how to walk nicely on leash. He is very social with people and dogs.”

Meet Tom! This handsome, medium built fella has a look in his eyes that will melt even the coldest of hearts. Tom is a 5-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier that is filled with love and curiosity. In the play yard at the shelter, he enjoys exploring every corner of the yard, sniffing around (and making the cutest little sounds as he does) and always coming back when he’s called - especially if there is a piece of cheese or other tasty treat waiting for him. 😁 He loves showing off his knowledge of “sit,” and takes treats gently.

Come to the shelter to meet Tom, and experience his sweet personality. 🥰

Introducing Montana. This gal is as majestic as they come. At the golden age of 7, Montana is sweet, gentle, mellow, loving, and still enjoys chasing a ball and playing with her toys.

Recently in the play yard at the shelter, she enjoyed playing with a Christmas gift toy - retrieving it, squeaking it, and playing tug of war. 🥰

She also walks well on a leash and knows tricks like shake, sit, and lay down.

If you’re looking for a sweet senior like Montana, or know someone who is, head to the shelter to meet her. Let’s find this sweet and deserving senior lady a home for the holidays!

A Treasure Trove of Kittens Await Adoption!

FOTAS has many adoptable kitties looking for a fur-ever home including TAFFY (female Calico); ELLIS (male, Tuxedo); EZEE (male, Tuxedo); ELI (male, Harlequin); EDEN (female, Calico); TAB (male, brown/white Tabby); and TIGGER (male, brown Tabby). Go to FOTAS.org/adopt to learn more.

There are so many reasons to adopt a cat.

1. Giving a home to a cat who needs one. Every cat (or dog, hamster, or bunny) that is adopted makes a dent in that number and helps make room for another fuzzy friend who needs help. Always adopt do not shop.

2. Do it for the love. Adopting a cat means opening your heart to a new fuzzy family member, a beautiful new best friend, one that will fill your home with love, cuddles, and two-way adoration.

3. Pets are good for your health. They provide a sense of purpose, fulfillment, and reduce stress and loneliness.

4. They teach kids a sense of responsibility. A cat is a great way to create a connection between a child and an animal, often one they will both remember forever.

5. They are independent. Cats are perfect because they can entertain themselves. Make sure you still are available to spend time with your fuzzy friend: They need snuggles and companionship, too.

6. They are litter trained. Unlike a dog, you will not have to take your cat for a walk outside at the break of dawn or in the cold, dark and rain.

7. They are endlessly fascinating creatures. Cats are gorgeous, mysterious little beings who are so much fun to play with, to get to know, to bond with and of course to snuggle with.

Are you ready to adopt a FOTAS kitty? Go to FOTAS.org/adopt and fill out an online adoption application. Once your application is reviewed, you will be contacted to schedule a meet and greet in the foster home.

Since kittens do best with a feline friend in their new home, FOTAS offers a 2 fur 1 adoption special where you can take home two kitties for the price of one ($100).

Let’s help every kitty find a loving fur-ever home for Christmas! ❤🐾🐾

Meet Summer – Your New Adventure Buddy!
Summer is a fun-loving, 1-year-old Catahoula Leopard Dog mix weighing around 55lbs. She’s full of energy, athletic, and ready for all the adventures life has to offer. Whether it’s a hike, a run, or a leisurely walk, Summer is always up for some fun and excitement. She loves carrying her favorite stuffie around and can’t get enough of car rides – she’s the perfect companion for any outdoor enthusiast.

Though Summer is a quick learner and very smart, she’s still working on her leash training and can be reactive around other dogs and animals. She would do best in a home with an experienced owner who can continue to guide her on leash manners and help her channel her excitement.

Summer would thrive in a low-key environment where she can be the center of attention and enjoy some peaceful cuddle time on the couch after a day of exploring. She’s playful, goofy, and affectionate, and would make a great companion for anyone who loves the outdoors and snuggles!
She prefers to be the only pet in the household!

If you’d like to meet Summer, fill out an adoption application at fotas.org/adopt or email [email protected]

Meet Brillo! This scruffy lil’ terrier is about 7 months old and looking for a quiet forever home to love and care for him!

Brillo came from a difficult past, and wasn’t shown love by his human. This has caused him hesitation around humans and he can be nervous when he first meets you. He has been in a loving FOTAS foster home, where he has been given the space to go at his own pace. He has become wiggly, playful, and snuggly! He happily greets his foster when she is home from work, and he loves cuddling up at the end of the day! He has been learning how to play with toys, walk on leash, and accept human affection!

Brillo needs a calm home where he can continue to go at his speed. He wants a home that won’t push him too quickly, and can continue his basic training.
Brillo would do well with another calm dog, we do not know his background with cats.

To meet Brillo, fill out an adoption application at FOTAS.org/adopt or email dena@fotas
