ANNOUNCING SEPTEMBER’S (and our very first!) SPOTLIGHT STORY!

📢📢📢📢

Introducing.. Finn!

Here’s his story sent along from Equamore Foundation💙

"FINDING SANCTUARY
Finn was seized by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department in a criminal neglect case and transported by Equamore volunteers to the Sanctuary in Ashland, Oregon in 2005 with his sister, father, and Finn’s mother. His grandfather had already died of starvation on the owner’s property. He and his sister were just three years old and at death’s door from starvation.

Their father, Bader, lived at the Sanctuary for ten years before he passed in 2015 and Finn’s mother, Sara, was in Equamore’s care for thirteen years. She passed in 2018.

When he first arrived at the Sanctuary, Finn was extremely fearful of humans and had no training of any kind. He had never been haltered or trained to lead. After months of recuperation, and the gelding of Finn, he was put into training under saddle and became a wonderful school horse. At twenty-two years of age he is still teaching students how to ride with compassion, sensitivity, and kindness – understanding how a horse’s body functions mechanically and working with – instead of against – their natural way of moving."

Be the reason someone smiles today ❤️ In the thick of rescue it’s easy to get caught up in the ugly in the world but if you’ve ever stood in the presence of a rescued animal and felt the sigh of relief that comes…you know there is still a reason to smile. ❤️❤️❤️
