We have the BEST team of volunteers at The Cat House Feline Sanctuary! Whether they’re scooping litter boxes, washing walls, donating supplies, running fundraisers, picking up kitties, or sharing our posts—each and every one of you makes a difference! 🐾💙

But today, we want to give a special thank you to the legend himself—MIKE! 🎉

Many of you may know Mike and his bright yellow water truck, but around here, he’s also our go-to Mr. Fix-It! From hauling litter to climbing around in the attic and chasing down electrical issues—he does it all. We haven’t had him plumbing yet, but he has fixed our gas heaters, so we’re pretty sure there’s nothing he can’t do!

Mike is always there when we and the kitties need him, and we couldn’t be more grateful for everything he does to keep The Cat House running smoothly. Thank you, Mike!

We are thrilled to announce that some amazing students have taken on the task of launching a Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) program to help manage the feral cat population in Ashland County! Special, thank you to their teacher Anne Leidigh for guiding them!

The first TNR event will take place on April 26, 2025, hosted by the Animal Veterinary Science students at the Ashland County-West Holmes Career Center. This is a huge step forward, and while we are excited, we know it’s a big task—so we truly appreciate your patience, support, and grace as we work through this process.

✅ How You Can Help:
🐱 Spread the word about this event
📅 Make an appointment to bring in feral cats (limited to 100)
💲 A $20 fee per cat covers surgery and care
🐾 Follow trapping guidelines (live traps required)

📍 Drop-off: April 25, 3:00-6:00 PM
📍 Pick-up: April 26 (afternoon, time TBD)

Petal has declared herself head of operations, and her leadership style is firm but fair. She observes, she inspects, and she definitely doesn’t do any of the work.

🚨 CALLING ALL ADVENTURE SEEKERS! 🚨

Is your life feeling a little too... vanilla? Do you long for a feisty feline sidekick to turn up the heat? Meet Biscotti, the pint-sized spice queen who’s ready to shake things up! 🌪️🐾

This 7-month-old white & tiger kitten (yes, tiger—just ask her) was born to be wild. She’s basically the feline version of Lara Croft, leaping, sneaking, and conquering every obstacle in her path. Stealth mode? Activated. Turbo speed? Always. Fear? Never heard of it.

The Stats:
✔️ Spayed & fully vetted (because even warriors need checkups)
✔️ Negative for feline leukemia/FIV (superhero health confirmed)
✔️ Up to date on all vaccinations (extra lives secured)
✔️ Treated for fleas & worms (no bugs in this matrix)
✔️ Clean bill of health (ready to take over your home)

What You’re Signing Up For:
Biscotti is ALL KITTEN, ALL THE TIME. She’s like a caffeinated toddler in a tiny, adorable fur coat. Play is her purpose, chaos is her calling, and she absolutely refuses to take “no” for an answer when it comes to fun. Think Wednesday Addams meets a parkour athlete—she’s fierce, determined, and completely unbothered by the opinions of others (including the more “chill” resident cats, who may or may not be exhausted).

But beneath that fearless exterior, Biscotti is learning that snuggles and pets aren’t so bad after all. She’s still warming up to the idea of affection, but every day, her soft side peeks through—like a tough action hero with a secret heart of gold.

Who She’s Looking For:
➡️ Someone who appreciates a spicy kitten with main character energy
➡️ A home ready for high-energy zoomies and stealth attacks on unsuspecting toys
➡️ A fellow play enthusiast (human, feline or possibly canine) who can keep up with her antics
➡️ Maybe even a security gig—because let’s be honest, this girl would make an excellent guard cat

If you’re ready to add a little thrill, fun, and feline mischief to your life, fill out an adoption application for Biscotti today! She’s waiting to pounce… right into your heart. ❤️🐾

BIRD FLU: Keep cats safe! Cats are very susceptible to H5N1, also known as bird or avian flu, but at this time the overall risk for exposure and infection is believed to be low. The virus has ravaged poultry farms, leading to the mass killing of over 150 million birds. Now, it's been detected in dairy cows, cats—even humans.

Signs of H5N1 infection in cats:
⛔ Respiratory problems like coughing, sneezing, nasal discharge, trouble breathing
⛔ Lethargy
⛔ Neurological disorders, such as disorientation or trouble walking
⛔ Sudden onset of severe disease or death without prior signs of illness or injury

🍀 Spring may not have arrived yet, but our first litter of kittens has! ☘️

Meet our little lucky charms! Mama Emerald has been busy raising two adorable babies—our tiny tortie girl Clover and her handsome black-coated brother Paddy. These little ones are just a couple of weeks old, their eyes are open, and they’re starting to take in the world! 🌎✨

It will be several more weeks before they’re ready for adoption, but we couldn’t resist sharing this sneak peek! Stay tuned for updates as they grow into their personalities.

And remember—luck isn’t needed when it comes to preventing unwanted litters! Spay and neuter your pets so more kittens like these can find loving homes. 💚

A No Kill Feline Sanctuary

Our sanctuary is an open environment for the cats. We do not have our cats in cages. They are all free roaming, able to interact and socialize with one another. This helps us get to know them, their personalities, who gets along with whom, and behaviors. This helps us match the right cat with the right family, to help insure a purrfect relationship! All of our cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated for feline leukemia, distemper, and rabies as well as tested for feline aids (FIV) and feline leukemia (FeLV), wormed and given monthly flea treatment. They are also treated for all prevalent illnesses while in our care. We have a wide range of cats looking for new homes. We have a variety of ages from kittens, adult, and senior cats. We have long hair, short hair, a variety of colors, some declawed, males and females, as well as siblings. We also have a few special need cats, so we are sure that we can find the right match for your family. We do require a veterinarian reference prior to making an appointment to come and see the cats. We will contact your vet prior to the appointment so we can make sure that our cats will be properly cared for in loving homes.
