Truth, and canned cat food helps with hydration, but please put a heated food and water dish outside if possible.

We are thrilled to introduce Dr. Erica Keller as the newest member of our team at Spring Meadow Veterinary Clinic! 🐾

Dr. Keller graduated in 2008 from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine and earned her undergraduate degree in Animal Science at Cornell University. When she's not caring for your furry family members, Dr. Keller stays busy with her two elementary-aged sons, who keep her active with 4-H, soccer, and Cub Scouts. She's also the proud owner of a Registered LaMancha dairy goat herd and a retired professional mountain biker.

Dr. Keller has a professional interest in animal behavior and is excited to provide compassionate, comprehensive care for your pets. We are excited to have her join our team and are pleased to announce that our clinic is once again accepting new clients!

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Keller to the SMVC family! 💙

🍂 Say Hello to Chai & Matcha! Double the Charm, Double the Tortie Fun! 🍂

Meet our two tortie treasures, Chai and Matcha! Though they were found separately on the same day in completely different areas, fate brought these cuties together, and they’ve been best friends ever since. 💕

Chai is a spirited, short-haired tortoiseshell with a zest for life! Born around 8/25/2024, she’s got energy to spare and is always eager to play, pounce, and meet new friends—furry or human. This little extrovert would thrive in a bustling home with kids or other pets, as she loves to be part of the action! 🌟

Matcha, her gentle counterpart, has a luxurious long tortie coat and a softer approach to life. Also born around 8/25/2024, she’s content to lounge in your lap for chin scratches, purring with happiness as she observes Chai’s lively antics. She’s playful but calm, making her the perfect companion for quieter moments. 🐾

These two balance each other beautifully and make a wonderful pair, though they’d also do well in separate homes.

Health Details:
DOB: 8/25/2024
Weight: ~2 pounds each
Testing: Negative for feline leukemia/FIV
Vaccinations: First round completed (balance of vaccinations included in our adoption plan)
Treatments: Flea-free, worm-free, and a negative f***l test
Spay: Included in our adoption plan

If you’re interested in Chai’s spirited personality, Matcha’s gentle warmth, or maybe both, fill out an adoption application today to meet these two little darlings! 🍁

🍵 Meet Chamomile & Oolong – The Perfect Blend! 🍵

Introducing our tea-themed duo, Chamomile and Oolong! These inseparable siblings are as sweet and soothing as their names suggest, and they’re ready to steep some extra love into a forever home together. 🫖💛

🌸 Chamomile is a delicate beauty—a female light gray tiger with soft blush highlights around her face, giving her a gentle, sweet look. While she’s a bit quieter than her brother, she’s quickly warmed up to people and adores pets and gentle affection.

🍂 Oolong is her devoted protector—a handsome brown tiger with striking wide stripes and warm, orangish highlights on his neck and belly. This little charmer loves to talk and is always eager to greet you with his enthusiastic meows! He’s incredibly attentive to Chamomile, always making sure she’s safe and comfortable. Wherever she goes, he’s right behind, keeping watch with his loving eyes.

These two absolutely adore each other—snuggling, purring, and constantly showing affection. Their bond is truly something special, with Oolong always keeping an eye on Chamomile and Chamomile leaning into his gentle, protective nature. They’re happiest when they’re together, and they can’t imagine life without one another. 💖

Weight: ~5 pounds each

🍁✨ October wrapped up with big adoption news for three precious kitties! ✨🍁

🎉 Wallnonna Judd found her forever home on October 22! Rescued from inside the wall of an abandoned building, our little country star is now living the cozy life she deserves. 💖

🎃 Ginger & Basil were adopted together on October 29! This sweet sibling duo is double the joy and ready for all the autumn snuggles. 🧡

Congratulations to our lucky adopters and these beloved kitties! We still have plenty of furry friends waiting to meet their families—who will be next? 🐾🍂

Great information! 😻

Great information! 😻

In most cases, cats will figure out how to use shelters on their own. Here are a few things you can do to attract them if it doesn't seem like your cats are using the shelter:

▪️Be patient. Some cats need a lot of time to get comfortable with a new shelter.
▪️Loosely fill the shelter ½ to ¾ full of straw, NOT HAY. Replace the straw every year.
▪️Remove any door flaps on the shelter. While doorway flaps help keep cold air out and warm air in, they should not be added until after your cats are used to going in and out of the shelter.
▪️Do not place food in or near the shelter. Cats instinctively avoid sleeping near food as it attracts other cats and wildlife (predators).
▪️Location is important. Place the shelter where your cats are already hanging out. More feral/less social cats typically want to shelter farther away from humans. The more secluded the shelter, the more likely cats are to use it.
▪️Place the shelter near natural cover, as opposed to out in the open where your cats may not feel safe. Cats prefer to move along walls, hedges or other natural barriers and boundaries. Place the shelter under or up against a building, fence, tree, porch, bush or some type of overhang.
▪️Place the shelter with the entrance facing away from the wind, rain and snow.
▪️Make sure the shelter is on a flat surface. A wobbly shelter could discourage cats from entering.
▪️It’s possible that your cats have another shelter where they feel safe. They may already have a shed, crawlspace or some other shelter they prefer.
▪️When all else fails, try a new location, but only after giving your cats plenty of time to explore and get used to the current location.
(We thank FeralVilla.com for this great advice!)

THANK YOU to the caregivers who have taken the time to build a feral cat shelter. Protection from the elements is critical, especially during the cold months, and your thoughtfulness will no doubt save many lives this winter.

A No Kill Feline Sanctuary

Our sanctuary is an open environment for the cats. We do not have our cats in cages. They are all free roaming, able to interact and socialize with one another. This helps us get to know them, their personalities, who gets along with whom, and behaviors. This helps us match the right cat with the right family, to help insure a purrfect relationship! All of our cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated for feline leukemia, distemper, and rabies as well as tested for feline aids (FIV) and feline leukemia (FeLV), wormed and given monthly flea treatment. They are also treated for all prevalent illnesses while in our care. We have a wide range of cats looking for new homes. We have a variety of ages from kittens, adult, and senior cats. We have long hair, short hair, a variety of colors, some declawed, males and females, as well as siblings. We also have a few special need cats, so we are sure that we can find the right match for your family. We do require a veterinarian reference prior to making an appointment to come and see the cats. We will contact your vet prior to the appointment so we can make sure that our cats will be properly cared for in loving homes.
