The Ohio Wildlife Council approved proposed hunting and trapping season dates for 2023-24, including deer bag limit changes in seven counties, during its regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, April 12, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.

YOUTH SEASON IS THIS WEEKEND!
🦌 Ohio’s popular white-tailed deer gun hunting seasons begin in November, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.
Youth season, for hunters 17 and younger, is Saturday and Sunday, November 18th-19th. The weeklong gun season, open to all hunters, kicks off Monday, November 27th and runs until Sunday, December 3rd. The deer gun weekend is December 16th-17th.
Ohio’s deer muzzleloader hunting season is Jan. 6-9, 2024, when muzzleloaders and archery equipment are legal hunting implements. During any of the gun seasons, all hunters, regardless of implement, are required to wear hunter orange. Check the 2023-24 Hunting and Trapping Regulations for more information.

On the fourth Saturday of every September, NHF Day recognizes generations of sportsmen and women for their contributions to the conservation of our nation’s rich sporting heritage and natural resources. One of the main goals of National Hunting and Fishing Day is to recruit new hunters and anglers by encouraging participation and increasing public awareness of the connection between hunting, angling, and conservation. Through self-imposed fees and excise taxes, sportsmen and women have raised more than $57 billion--that’s more than $100,000 every 30 minutes being raised for conservation. NHF Day is the largest, most effective grassroots movement ever undertaken to promote outdoor sports and conservation.

Johnny Morris’ Wonders of Wildlife National Museum and Aquarium in Springfield, MO serves as the official home for NHF Day.
