The Aspen Animal Shelter is a privatized, self-sustaining animal rescue that combines a boarding kennel, a grooming salon and a pet shop to generate the income needed to provide sanctuary for the homeless dogs and cats of Aspen, Pitkin County and beyond. Every homeless pet is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped prior to adoption. We are open every day of the year from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. W

In keeping with his breeding, Rambo is a hound who likes to follow his nose, so he will require a knowledgeable, responsible home. Boots is a happy, healthy, handsome , 8-month-old yellow Lab who gets along well with people and other dogs. He has an exuberant personality and was released to the shelter due to his incredibly high energy level. Boots was bred from hunting lines and he likes to run, swim and retrieve. In short, Boots is an extroverted, athletic Lab who is searching for a knowledgeable, responsible, active home. Sam is a 9-year-old Pitbull mix who has lived at the Aspen Animal Shelter for the past 7.5 years. She is great with all people, including children, but can be aggressive with most dogs, including all females. Through trial and error, we have discovered that Sam often accepts large, stable, male dogs. Fortunately, Sam has a new friend in Erol, who is a 2-year-old Akbash / Siberian Husky mix. Erol is friendly with people and other dogs, but likes to climb fences as high as 8' tall. Both dogs will require extremely responsible, knowledgeable homes. Tam is a sweet, affectionate, somewhat shy, 7-year-old Miniature Pinscher who loves to cool off in her water bowl, as evidenced in the attached video :)
