It's the most wonderful time of the year and that means being prepared for anything Mother Nature throws at us! βοΈπ¨π§
While most of us might have a plan for ourselves, we might not have a plan for our pets! These are just a few tips for our furry, four-legged friends in the event of an emergency.
π¦ For our reptile keepers: If you are unable to move your animals, make sure all lighting/heating is turned off in the event of a power outage. Cover your reptile's enclosure to keep the temperatures from dropping too low. Skip feeding you reptiles if you're worried about your power going out. If you have a preparedness kit with a tub for transport, make sure you have heat packs ready to place at one end of the tub for warmth. Your reptile should not be able to get direct access to the heat pack.
π Now's the time to invest in a battery operated air pump for when the power goes out! It will keep water moving so your fish get the oxygen they need! If your power goes out before you get your pump, agitating the water (a whisk is a great tool) every couple of hours works in a pinch!
