StoneyCreek Decker and Old Dominion Terriers

StoneyCreek Decker and Old Dominion Terriers Welcome to StoneyCreek! My goal is to help you find your next family member. My love for terriers came from my father. He asked me to help him find one.

Whether you hunt, want a companion, or are looking for you next go buddy, I feel very confident that we can help you find what you are looking for. He is an avid hunter and always had one or two rat terriers, fox terriers, or Jack Russell crosses running around the property. There is something special about this group of dog that is intelligent, funny, and tough, all wrapped up in a little ball of

spitfire. Seven years ago he was ready to add another terrier to the farm. After researching different breeders we found the Decker Terrier lines. We were both intrigued to find a larger size terrier than we were used to. He decided to purchase two females from Lil Ranchin Rat Terriers. We drove down and picked out two. I was hooked on these incredible dogs. I was ready to add my own Decker to my family a few years ago. I wanted a go dog… put him in the truck, go hiking, go to the beach, go one a bike ride, all while being happy, yet protective of my family and me. I found Goose two years ago from BriarBey Decker and Old Dominion Terriers. When he arrived I knew he was something special. He was everything I wanted. He is driven, protective, and truly loves his people. I could not be happier with this handsome boy. We are adding three females to the pack this year; one Decker and two Old Dominion Terriers. Deckers and ODTs have an intelligence to them to where they read their people. They look into your eyes to try and see what you want from them. They aim to please. They are big, beautiful, and have a personality to match. They are happy to be hunting one minute and hanging out on the couch with the family the next.

Hey everyone,

I feel like this post is needed at this point. I have a lot of interest about what next year looks like for my breeding plans and people wanting to get on my lists.
I will NOT know until Javelina has her puppies. She has a large waitlist and depending on what she has means that some people may get shuffled to next year or I different litter per their choice. People who already have deposits placed have priority. With Rue only having one female with her last litter and Echo not being pregnant means their lists still have people waiting.

I usually post my plans in December, but I’ll probably do it sooner so everyone can have an idea.

Another note… I cannot control heat cycles! As much as I’d like to and the convenience of it haha. I cannot guarantee puppies born in certain months, I can only guesstimate, but Mother Nature has the final say and I’ve learned that she doesn’t like to play by the rules. Puppies come when puppies come ❤️

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the patience and the interest in my pack 🖤🤎🤍

Update-

Echo is not pregnant. Phone calls have been made and depending on what Javelina has in a couple weeks will determine what picks look like for 2025 litters.
Bear with me everyone. Us being a small kennel sometimes means longer wait times with puppies. I know it’s tough, I’ve been on that side of it. Please know that I have a hard time making those phone calls ❤️.

Part 6- The Finale and best for last❤️

Oh and for those of you wondering if Nick got his dog… it's Ruey... everyone's favorite sweetheart.

I had no intention of holding a female back from Goose’s first litter, but I knew from Rue’s second set of photos that she was special. She had the headset and eyes that make you swoon. I told myself if she was the last girl standing that Nick and I would be having a conversation. Well, fast forward the six weeks and she was the last one. Nick was playing with the boys in the backyard, and I told him to sit down… we needed to talk. I plopped that pretty girl right in front of him and started telling him all the reasons why she needed to stay… mid sentence she stretched into a play bow, jumps in his lap at roooos at him. She popped up on her hind legs, put her front paws on his chest and looked right in his eyes. He told me “I don’t know how I’m supposed to say no to that.” She chose her person, that was it. She absolutely adores him.

I wouldn’t be who I am without Nick. He is my other half, my calm in the storm, my voice of reason (no Chelsey, you are NOT getting another puppy… hello Pig… hello Maggie), he is where my heart lives and my soul thrives. He is the man behind the projects. He really can do anything! He is the man that socializes with your puppies. He is the best dad for our boys. His kindness and patience is unmatched. He works his ass off so I am able to be a stay at home mom and follow this crazy Decker dream. He believes in me and I him. There would be no StoneyCreek without Nick. Thank you love, I know this isn’t easy, but I made a terrier lover out of you and now there’s no going back.

Part 5- StoneyCreek

The name StoneyCreek came from our old home which was a little town house on Stoney Creek Road. We rented there for seven years from an older couple that never raised our rent. They gave us a start. They would also stop by around Christmas every year with a card with $100 in it and a hug. They would never check the house, they just wanted to give us a gift. $100 was a lot to a young family that time of year. I miss the memories of that house. I brought my babies home there. Toad passed away there. Goose was brought home there. StoneyCreek will forever hold part of my heart and I honor the memory in my kennel name and everything I pass down with my dogs.

Part 4- My Pack and the amazing women who made it possible

I have added a few others to my pack over the years as I try to navigated my plan and vision for my kennel. I kept two pups out of Goose and Kimber- Rue and Wilson.
I got two ODT females form BriarBey, one of which is now living her best life with two of her pups in northern California, and Echo who is soon to have her first litter of pups this year with Goose. Echo actual has a strong bond with my mom and gets to hunt squirrels on their property every day.
I went back to Lil Ranchin and got Javelina in 2022 and Pig in 2023. I am so happy to finally have a couple Lil Ranchin dogs of my own. Their temperaments are the best and their structure is spot on. They have the looks and personalities that I fell in love with ten years ago when my dad got his girls.
I also got a Mufasa pup out Westside Deckers that we named Westside Deckers Magpie- “Maggie.” Maggie brings that Ace of Spades from BriarBey back into the picture that I love so much on her dam’s side, married with Lil Ranchin on her sire’s side.

Half of my kennel is Lil Ranchin and the other half is BriarBey. Blended together created Rue, Wilson, and Maggie. I'm here for it!

Bridget and Deana are not only my mentors, but strong women who I consider family. The amount of knowledge these women have is unmatched. They love the breed, they care about the future generations of not only the dogs, but up and coming breeders who are paying attention and doing better by the breed.

Thank you both for everything-
Thank you for the late night phone calls. Thank you for answering my questions, no matter how many times you've repeated yourselves. Thank you for walking me through the uncertainties and sometimes scary part of whelping. Thank you for the worming suggestions, puppy mash, medications, supplies. Thank you for the over the phone hugs, shared tears when I had to fight the city and my neighbors tooth and nail to start my kennel. We won!!! (For those of you reading.... I'm probably the most permitted and licensed breeder you will find.) I basically live in a retirement community that was afraid of change and thought I was going to be boarding dogs. No one understood that Deckers aren't loud. It all worked out, but oh man did I get dragged through the wringer. It was upsetting and exhausting and these women held my hand through it all from long distance. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and knowledge. Thank you for believing in me to do better with the future. Thank you for checking on me when I've been "quiet". Deanna thank you for the photo advice... I listened! Bridget thank you for having the occasional cocktail with me after the boys go to bed and talk dogs for hours... it's one of my favorite parts of my day. I love you both dearly. You mean more to me than I can put into words.
To my dog mothers 🖤🤎🤍

Deanna, I have no photos with you because you live too far away
