“My Mother kept a garden.
A garden of the heart;
She planted all the good things,
That gave my life it's start.
She turned me to the sunshine,
And encouraged me to dream:
Fostering and nurturing
The seeds of self-esteem.
And when the winds and rains came,
She protected me enough;
But not too much, she knew I'd need
To stand up strong and tough.
Her constant good example,
Always taught me right from wrong;
Markers for my pathway
To last my whole life long.
I am my Mother's garden,
I am her legacy.
And I hope today she feels the love,
Reflected back from me.”
On Sunday afternoon our mother, Pauline, gained her angel wings and was reunited with her loving husband Scott. She was a wonderful caring mother, sister, wife, grandma, great grandma, friend and neighbor. We will miss her contagious smile, her beautiful voice and the way she sang along to the Porter Wagoner show. We will miss her cooking, her famous stuffing at thanksgiving, her deer steaks with gravy and her chili. She never had a recipe, she just knew everything by heart. She loved being surrounded by her family and supported her grandchildren in every way she could. She attended sporting events, graduations, birthday parties, grandparents day and sometimes even vacations. They don’t make them quite like her anymore. She had a strength like no other. She was one tough cookie. She raised her children, milked cows, had a paper route, went shopping for necessities, cooked three meals a day, did the laundry, and managed the family farm. She showed us what a “good days work” meant. We will miss our mother dearly but knowing she’s with our father brings a smile to our face. We will miss you greatly but we will see you again someday. Keep dad in line for us and watch over all us kids, we know you’ll be watching because that’s always what you did.
From your loving family.... your children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and your great great grandson!
Mary Pauline Ervin’s service will be held at the Alexander Cemetery off Hebbardsville Rd. In Albany at 1pm on Thursday, May 21st. Following the service we will have food right across the road at one of the family barns. We hope to see you all and look forward to you helping us celebrate our mother.
