We are in need of these litter buckets if anyone has some empty ones, with the lids still in tact! We often get donations of damaged bags/boxes of litter and these are handy to transfer into! We go thru quite a bit with our cat and kitten rooms! 😊

Items can be dropped off outside the Adoption Center at 320 S. Jackson St, or outside our former clinic location at 3 Davidson Rd (under the awning please). Thank you in advance!!

🐾Adoption applications can be submitted on our website, www.mrhumane.org . All adoptions will be done by appointment only this week due to limited staffing. Once your application is processed and approved, you will be contacted to schedule a time.

🐾The adoption fee for these 7 puppies has been WAIVED to an approved adopter. These pups are vetted and ready to go! Their adopter will also receive 1 free training session with our friends at PawsitivelyK9 right here in Athens. We STRONGLY encourage adopters to take advantage of this paw-some opportunity!!!

🐾Please note, these are all very young puppies. We have not exposed them to cats. If an approved potential adopter has cats, we can test them with cats with the potential adopter present.

Any and all negative comments will be removed. We need ADOPTERS! We need HELP! We need the community to spay and neuter their animals!! These puppies have now been in our care for over 8 weeks.....over half of their life so far!

Thank you to everyone who came out to meet the doggos and buy a hot dog today!!! Our Cook Out Fundraiser made $185 today! No adoptions, but the pups had a BLAST hanging out with everyone! 😊 And a special MRHS alum stopped by for a visit 🥰

Christmas in July is happening all month long! Bring a donation of Purina dog/puppy/cat/kitten chow 14lb bag or larger, and we will discount your adoption fee! Adult dogs are normally $80, would be discounted to $20. Puppies (less than 1 year) are normally $100, discounted to $50. Cats/kittens are normally $40, discounted to $20.

We're only halfway through 2024 and it has been a HARD year for us. Don't get us wrong, we moved! We're THRILLED about making the move to our new location! But financially, we have been hit hard.
We're still SO FAR from reaching our Capital Campaign goals. Those funds are vital to operating the Spay and Neuter Clinic out of the new location.
We've been hit hard with sick puppies and kittens, and healthy puppies and kittens! The number of intakes for 2024 have led the City of Athens Animal Shelter staff to make hard decisions. We don't envy them. There's SO MANY animals coming in, the SOS lists will continue at this rate. To date, MRHS has waived $8320 in adoption fees for SOS animals in 2024. Adoption fees help cover the cost of vetting those animals. We need HELP recovering those fees!
Please consider skipping your morning coffee or late-night ice cream cone and donate! Or come buy a hot dog on Sunday!

3 litters of puppies have been growing up in the shelter, and it breaks our hearts to see! 💔💔

All 3 litters made the move with us from the old shelter location, and still, there has been ZERO interest in them! Each litter has spent over 47 days in the shelter....that's 7 weeks! That's over HALF of their lives to date 🥺 These 10 pups are the only remaining dogs in our care that lived in the old shelter. All of the others have been adopted or rescued. At this rate, these pups will more than likely go on the next SOS list. And our staff and volunteers just can't bear to see that happen 😢

Please consider adopting one of these sweet babies and giving them the life they deserve!! Adoption applications can be submitted on our website, www.mrhumane.org . We will be hosting a pet food giveaway this FRIDAY, JULY 19th at our former MRHS Spay and Neuter Clinic location.

The doors will open promptly at 6pm. We will not be handing out food prior to that time. Please do NOT arrive early and block the parking area. Our volunteers will be coming after they get off of work to get organized and walk the dogs that are still living at this location.

Patrick (Corgi mix) and Easton are excellent with other dogs, kids of all ages, crate trained, housebroken, walk great on leash. Sit and shake on command, been around livestock and are still very trainable!!! ❤️🐾 Adoption event this SUNDAY at Keith Street at the Keith/Forrest house- hot dog cookout! 12-4:00. Happy !! We think Patrick and Easton are the perfect pups to represent this day! They're both always so happy and down to sunbathe or go for a walk! 🐾💚🐾🩵

Patrick and Easton are brothers from another mother. Easton was dumped with his littermates at a very young age, and a few days later, Patrick was dumped and ended up in MRHS's care. All of their friends and littermates have been adopted, and still these boys remain. And we cannot understand why!! 🥺

These boys are living the life in their foster home and learning how to be the best pups they can be! Their foster family has worked really hard on leash-training, potty-training, not chewing every interesting thing in sight, and just overall puppy manners. And they are ROCKSTARS!! Patrick and Easton are content to sunbathe outside, get some pets by the pool, or take a nap in their kennel. And playing......they love to play!! They like kids, have never met a stranger, love to go for car rides, and do well with other dogs. They have been exposed to livestock also.

It was a Tails About Town Monday at Eureka Trail this evening!! Our volunteers took the clinic dogs on a little field trip tonight and they did so good!! If you saw us out there, don't judge our walking skills. It was our first time taking all 4 on a walk TOGETHER 🙃 The puppies are doing great with their leash walking boot camp, and mama Virginia made sure everybody kept in line and acted right 😉 We learned what horsie p**p tastes like, what gravel tastes like, and smelled lots and lots of plants! Thanks to all the staff who keep Eureka Trail so clean and nice, our volunteers and pups can't wait to go back later this week!
