Behavior Modification
TRAINING UPDATE 🦮🐕🦺🐕
Phoebe (Black Dog) and Lexi (White Dog)
Phoebe has been with me approximately 5 weeks now because she would attack Lexi anytime she saw her. The last fight they were in the owners had a very hard time getting her off of Lexi (almost tore her ear off).
The video you see below is the very first time they have seen each other in a while. Now remember Phoebe would attack Lexi anytime she saw her.
What you see below can happen because we have worked to change the picture for Phoebe.
Lexi has not been with me at all so it’s not like I’ve been working with them together for the past five weeks and correcting Phoebe every time she tried to do something.
Now I want you to know, baby is not wearing E-Collar for the past five weeks. She has not worn in E-Collar so this was not accomplished by using straight punishment. Every time she did something she wasn’t supposed to.
There’s lots of trainers out here that say they work in behavior modification with dogs, but what the majority of them really mean is they utilize an E-Collar on the dog and when the dog makes a mistake, the E-Collar is used
This tactic can have dire consequences!!!
To be really successful in helping the dog change behaviors you MUST help the dog change their perspective of the picture
The vast majority of my clients know my dog Gunner 🐕🐕
In the dictionary under the word BALANCE, Is a picture of Gunner
He is the perfect family dog 💪💪💪
So with it being so hot we have made a mini waterpark for the dogs on the back patio 😂. We have a deep black pond we converted to a pool with a drain spout and it does have three little side steps so little dogs are also safe and able to enjoy. Next to it we have the biggest shallow kiddie pool we could find and then we have the smaller kiddie pool where we hope they dip their feet off before entering the other pools so they stay clean longer 🙌 we also have a mister attached to the fan and that will help it stay even cooler the big dogs are the ones that usually enjoy the pool the most so when it’s their turn we hope they have a blast. They don’t want to stay inside but then it’s just too hot to be outside so we make it work for them.
Pedro and Pablo went onto foster care under Pet Path (pulled from euth list at Cleveland TN AC) and the fosters were having issues with Pedro (black wire terrier type). He was not getting along with their dogs and picking fights with his brother Pablo. He would whine and cry in his crate if another dog was getting attention when he wasn’t. He was very anxious. We decided he needed to come here for a little tweaking of the attitude he had. The fosters came in and we introduced some of our dogs and Pedro immediately hid between the husbands legs and was snarling and snapping at anyone that approached the man. Even when Pedro was five feet away and saw another dog come for petting he would lash out and run towards the husband and actually bite the dog. He was exhibiting possessive behaviors as well as fearful insecure behaviors. He nipped the fosters hand when he missed the other dog and thankfully it did not break the skin. The fosters had very little hope for him being trainable. What we observed was a lot of incorrect communication on their part (not their fault, it’s how most everyone communicates with their dogs). A lot of petting while the behavior was happening and coddling and saying it’s ok and don’t be ugly with a sweet voice. We made sure to educate them on why he was behaving the way he was. It was because of them. They were concerned about him possibly having been abused due to scarring on the neck. That could be the case but it also could be from an allergic reaction to a flea collars that went unnoticed , could have been something tied around his neck or embedded collar etc. many things it could have been. They felt sorry for him because they felt he had been abused. This only fueled his behavior. Dogs don’t need us to feel sorry for them and try to cuddle them for the past. What they need is a strong leader that they can trust and respect. They were unknowingly rewarding his negative behaviors. We gave a brief course to help them better unde
What do we do when it’s raining?? We chill and listen to the rain hitting the metal roof 🐶🐶🐶

At Pawsitively K9 this is how the dogs spend the majority of the day. Lots of play time outside
When boarding with us your dog does not spend the majority of their time in a kennel. They get to be outside and play with others and have fun 🐶🐶🐶

Rocky’s Training
One of the traits I’m looking at during any behavior modification case is where is the threshold before the dog switches from play to frustration. This allows me to work on creating trust and respect with every dog.
PSA… No dogs were harmed before, during or after this video 🐶🐶🐶😊😊😊
Rocky’s training is going great. Meeting more new dogs 🐶🐕
