It’s going to be cold the next several nights! And if it’s too cold for you, it’s too cold for your pets! Bring them inside and keep them warm!

Do you have feral cats outside? You can help keep them warm too! To keep feral cats warm in winter, provide them with a well-insulated shelter made from a plastic storage tote lined with styrofoam insulation and straw, placed in a sheltered location, and ensure their water bowls are regularly checked and changed to prevent freezing; you can also consider adding a heat pad designed for pets inside the shelter, but be sure to monitor it carefully.

The holidays can be one of the most joyful and fun times of the year. But nothing can spoil good cheer like an emergency trip to the veterinary clinic. These tips can help keep your winter holiday season fun and safe for your pets:

🎄Christmas tree: Can tip over and cause injury; also, pine needles can cause intestinal irritation/upset if ingested
🌿Poinsettia: Toxic to dogs and cats due to sap - can cause intestinal upset and/or excessive drooling
🍫 Chocolate: Toxic to dogs and cats - can cause intestinal upset, tremors, seizures and even death
🪩 Ornaments/decorations: Can cause intestinal irritation and/or blockages if ingested
🌱Holly/mistletoe: Toxic to dogs and cats - can cause severe intestinal upset
🍷Alcohol: Can cause dangerous drops in blood sugar, blood pressure, and body temperature. Severely intoxicated animals can potentially experience seizures and respiratory failure.
🍗 Fatty foods: Can cause pancreatitis in dogs and cats.
🕯️Candles and fires: Can cause burns or start a fire if knocked over.

By being aware of these holiday hazards, you can help keep your pets safe and happy during the holiday season.
