Please know that sadly we cannot possibly take in all the animals we are contacted about. Our intakes are always dependent on whether or not we have fosters or space for them, not to mention the funds. Always contact several rescues if you need help. Everyone is overwhelmed and can't possibly keep up with the numbers of animals that need help. 😢

1.ALL DOGS/CATS ARE URGENT! BCAC is an open-intake shelter. WE CANNOT GUARANTEE if the pet shown has already been adopted, gone to rescue, or euthanized. We are volunteers updating as quickly as possible.
2. RESCUES: DO NOT WAIT IF YOU ARE A 501c3 RESCUE WANTING TO PULL! If you would like to tag and pull a pet, please message our page for pull details. You must be a reputable 501c3. If you do not hear from us in a timely manner, please contact the shelter at 318-741-8499.
3. ADOPTION: DO NOT WAIT if you are looking to adopt. It is BEST to go to the shelter in person. If you are DRIVING LONG DISTANCE to look at a specific animal? Call the shelter first before you start your journey.
4. BCAC cannot guarantee health, temperament, potty trained or whether or not they are good with other dogs/cats/children. In a shelter environment, dogs and cats are subject to having been exposed to upper respiratory infection or some other communicable disease.
5.. BUDDIES page has zero tolerance for any negativity, hate speech, harassment or any comments or language that are not aligned with the purpose of this page and the promotion of the animals of BCAC.

Just to clear things up for some people, the rescue building we are putting up is not being funded by ANY money donated toward supplies and vetting for our rescue dogs. This money is coming from savings, being transferred to our rescue account, and paid from there, and I'm sure I will have to take out a loan or make a Go Fund Me to finish it out, as everything is costing more than originally planned. If anyone has anyone has any questions, feel free to ask me directly. Claiborne Electric Coop was generous enough to bless us with an $8,300 grant to purchase kennels and doggy doors for the building. Otherwise, it is coming out of personal money. Once the building is done, we will pull all we have out of boarding. It will eventually pay for itself with the boarding money we will save.

Just a friendly reminder to those dog parents who have said any of the following in defense of opting not to give heartworm preventative
My dog stays inside so they don’t need it.
Preventative is just to expensive.
The mosquitos aren’t that bad where I live.
I only give it when it’s hot.
I’ll take my chances he won’t get heartworms
I could give a rebuttal to each and every one of these lame excuses but I know in most instances it would do absolutely no good so I’m just going to say this: Unless you live at the flipping North Pole with Santa you’re dog needs heartworm preventative plain and simple!! If you cannot provide this necessity to your dog then you do not in any way, shape or form deserve the trust or love that they give you unconditionally!! If you do not give it to your dogs this picture shows what will happen to the heart of the baby that you say you love so much!!!

****PLEASE READ!**** Pictures are posted by a volunteer, shelter employees may or may not have time to reply to any questions in the comments as they are usually outside caring for the animals. If you are interested in one of these dogs, the best option is to go to the shelter...you can also call but they are not usually near the phone during the day.
These dogs were at the Ouachita Parish Animal Shelter as of the date of this album. Some are available now, some may still be on hold and available soon, some may be "rescue only" due to their age, some may have owners who will be coming to claim them, some may not be available due to pending animal cruelty charges, etc. This is a public shelter that takes in many animals each week, consider them all urgent.
