Happy Fit Fact Friday! Today, we're investingating hook and eye closures on bras, and what bearing they have on your fit. On average, a bra will have between 2 and 3 sets of hooks and eyes. Certain styles may have more than that (oftentimes wire-free or strapless), but our inventory is a majority of 2-3 sets. How many hooks does not have a direct correlation to support of fit! Due to the inconsistency of the bra world (and fashion at large), no two bras will fit exactly the same, nor will they follow the same numbering system.
Our example styles are the @lovepanache Clara and the @parfaitofficial Shea Plunge. Do note that while these bras are similar, not all cut and sew styles (where the panels are sewn together in the cup) will operate universally. We couldn't find any hard and fast rule that dictates how many hooks a bra will have. It ultimately comes down to what manufacturers decide style to style. Some people may feel more comfortable in a particular number of hooks, but we'd like to emphasize that this is one aspect of bras we can't control for. We can look for styles that do have your preference, but it will largely rely on what size range we are in, what type of bra we are looking for, and what we have available to us at the time.
We're curious; what's the most hook and eye closures you've seen on a bra? Let us know if this video helped clarify some misconceptions about value being tied to the number of hooks on your band. And let us know what topic you'd like to hear about next! While we're excitedly preparing our move to the new space (!!!), we're still working on curating educational videos for you all. Happy fitting!

As much as we would love to send you home with a set-in-stone "true size", the reality is that the lingerie industry is plagued with the same sizing inconsistencies as the rest of the fashion world. We frequently say that measurements act as our baseline; they'll get us in the right ballpark. Once you find a few styles and sizes that work for you, you should have an easier time shopping going forward. But beware! There is no universal sizing chart for bras and lingerie. You may be one size in one brand, and a totally different in another!
[Video description: camera slowly rotates on a deadpanned, distantly gazing person. Lyrics from the Glee version of "Rose's Turn" play overtop. ("All that work and what did it get me? Why did I do it?"). Text reads: POV: you finally get a professional bra fitting, only to realise bras sizes are as inconsistent as jeans sizes.]
We're fitters - of course we had to jump on this trend! Did we miss any humorous habits you have or have noticed from fitters? Share them with us in the comments.
