It’s no secret—our pups love peanut butter! Whether it’s spread on a lick mat, stuffed in a KONG, or sneakily given during bath time (we see you, dog parents 😆), peanut butter is a fantastic enrichment tool for dogs. It keeps their minds engaged, provides a tasty reward, and makes every treat time extra special! Just remember to always check for xylitol—it’s toxic to dogs!

Meet Chubbz, our lovable 9-year-old Shih Tzu/Chihuahua mix who has stolen our hearts! 💕 Don’t let his age fool you—this little guy is full of energy and loves to play fetch until his tiny legs tire out. He’s also an incredibly smart cookie, always eager to listen and please. But the best part? He’s a loyal companion who will follow you wherever you go, making him the perfect emotional support buddy.

Your time is one of the most valuable gifts you can give! Whether you want to snuggle kittens, walk dogs, assist at events, or help behind the scenes, we have the perfect role for you at AAHS. Volunteers play a crucial role in our mission, and we couldn't do our lifesaving work without you! 💪
Our Volunteer Opportunities Include:
✔️ Shelter Support: Help with cleaning, dishes, answering phones, and assisting staff.
✔️ Canine Companions: Socialize, walk, and care for our shelter pups.
✔️ Feline Friends: Play, brush, and give love to our adoptable kitties.
✔️ Spay/Neuter & Wellness Center: Assist our veterinary team by doing laundry, sanitizing surgical equipment, and prepping materials.
✔️ Community Outreach Team: Advocate for pets by helping at adoption and tabling events.
✔️ Doggy Day Out Program: Take an adoptable dog out for a fun-filled adventure to give them a break from the shelter!
Whether you’re looking for a one-time opportunity or a long-term commitment, we have a spot for you! All volunteers must be 10 years or older to join us!

While she’s still a little unsure about the new shelter environment, she’s finding comfort and courage with her younger (and chunkier) sister, Gracies. With time, love, and the security of having her sister by her side, we know Gabby will shine in a loving forever home!
