HELP WANTED!! Now that our barn is almost full, we're looking for morning and afternoon barn help. PM us for information.

Also, one stall is still available to a lucky horse who loves a drama-free barn at a beautiful equestrian facility with one of the best indoor, oversized arenas in the area.

Please feel free to share. Thank you!

UPDATE: Pregnant Mare!!
Since she arrived, we have renamed her Adele.
Adele is more than comfortable in her stall and loves all the green grass in her paddock.
We have given her a bath and lots of love over the last 2 days.
Adele is doing absolutely fantastic here at FieldOfFocus. She is the sweetest, most kind, and loving mare. We are more than in awe to have her with us.
Thank you to all who supported Adele and us in helping her to safety.

For more updates on Adele's journey with us at FieldOfFocus please like and follow our page.

Please help Joey! He arrived in quarantine, and his condition is much worse than we thought! He is covered in bot flies, bot fly eggs, horse bites, and kick injuries. He is severely underweight and needs to see the vet, and farrier, and have his teeth floated.
The best news is his direct ship-to-slaughter tag has been removed and he is safe! It is the purple band in the picture!
Please consider donating to help him get the care and treatment he needs! Every dollar counts, no donation is too small, and we are grateful for any amount you can send his way! Venmo: Paypal:

Samuel awaiting his breakfast this morning.
He wasn't thrilled about having to wait for it to soak but the many kisses, scratches and Nickers are oh so sweet sounds of happiness.

As a few have asked about Samuel. I felt the need to add some before and after pictures, so here they are.

His eyes looked out at me without hope. Full of his soul. Tired. Scared. Listlessly waiting for death and the end of his suffering.

I noticed his pictures before, earlier in the week. Even though he was starved and impossibly skinny- you could still see he was magnificent in his prime. That must have been a very long time ago.

The post explained he was due to ship in just a few hours. He would be loaded on a trailer and driven across the border. However, the author did not detail it would not be a peaceful injection administered sleep, but a terrorized, screaming chaos of hundreds of others awaiting the same painful end.

How did he earn this demise? Maybe he was not as strong as he had been. He was aged- his usefulness diminished. Perhaps he couldn’t keep up with the powerful younger, uninjured draft horses. He lived on a farm- used as a tractor. To pull and plow. They pointed out he possibly had an infection in his mouth- or it might be cancer.

He had been beaten, abused, and neglected. It was evident from the scars inflicted by humans and his ill-fitting harness. His feet were overgrown, so he could hardly walk. His ribs protruded- I could count each one. Fingers could disappear into the crevices between them. His pelvis jarringly jutted from his trunk, creating a deep chasm between the two.

Surely someone else noticed his potential. They would rescue him. Yet here he stood. Only a few hours before he loaded.

“Is he saved?” The answer- “No.” I waited.
An hour before his time. “Is he saved?” “No.”
Fifteen minutes before he began his trip, I asked again—the same answer.

I had never owned a horse. My Grandfather did. Many, many of them. I had no property to keep a horse—no way to transport him. I knew nothing about his care and feeding. Especially not for a sick and starved horse. His eyes still drew me in.

So, on a Christmas night, after a day of tremendous happiness, joy, and love- I saved a sweet Belgian draft horse from certain horrible death. He will never suffer again. Never starve. And will never again experience the agony of neglect and abuse.

Since 2019, over 116,000 horses in the US have been shipped to Mexico and Canada for slaughter. Samuel would have been one more.

Help us save horses facing slaughter by donating to our 501c3 non-profit equine rescue organization. They are defenseless and need our help! Donate at venmo: Paypal and Patreon coming soon!
