🐾 Toothy Tails: Vet Dental Spotlight 🐾
Bruno was seen by Dr. Liz due to having an oral plasmacytoma that had been biopsied by his primary veterinarian. Oral plasmacytomas are uncommon tumors.
There is no radiation or chemotherapy needed after the removal of a plasmacytoma because they are benign. It is important to monitor for regrowth even if clean margins are obtained. Dr. Liz was able to completely excise the mass during Bruno's procedure! The mass was attached to the gingiva of the central incisors. These teeth, along with the 2nd incisor on the right were extracted to obtain clean bony and soft tissue margins.

Bruno’s human is a veterinary technician and reports that Bruno is doing great at home! 🌟

Did you know French Bulldogs are more prone to periodontal disease and other dental issues? Small breeds and brachycephalics (short-nosed dogs) are more likely to have these kinds of health problems due to the small size of their jaw and crowding of the teeth. Schedule your pups appointment today!

🐾 Toothy Tails: Vet Dental Spotlight 🐾
On an oral exam, we confirmed that Gracie has Feline Stomatitis. This is a very painful oral disease that causes severe mouth inflammation (especially the back of the mouth, under the tongue, and the gums). Dr. Lariviere surgically extracted all of Gracie's teeth in an effort to resolve the stomatitis and greatly reduce the oral pain associated with all of the inflammation. 🌟
"Everyone was FABULOUS. Thank you to everyone at VDCA! Dr. Lariviere did an excellent job giving Gracie the treatment she needed so badly. Gracie's life has been forever changed to the better, and I am so grateful. Dr. Lariviere and all the staff were so kind, helpful, and informative. I am sooooo grateful to all of you for literally saving her life "

🐾 Toothy Tails: Vet Dental Spotlight 🐾
Poppy was seen to rule out stomatitis due to her age and bad breath. She did not have stomatitis but did have severe gingivitis and moderate calculus accumulation around several teeth. Dr. Wood extracted the 15 affected teeth. We recently saw Poppy for her recheck exam and she is doing great! 🌟
"Dr. Wood was very clear about Poppy’s diagnosis and treatment plan. She was detailed and approached a scary topic (tooth extractions) with a really professional and calm demeanor that was reassuring for me as the owner. The staff communicate clearly and often. It was reassuring during the procedure to receive updates on how it was going. Angela was a rockstar with Poppy’s follow up care support. I had so many questions and she answered all of them so kindly and quickly! She never made me feel like a bother. Being able to text and call for quick support really sets this place apart from other vet centers I’ve been to."

Toothy Tails: Vet Dental Spotlight

Odin was in so much pain this fall that he couldn’t even open his mouth without crying, and even stopped playing with his favorite hedgehog toy. After a thorough exam, we found sores in his mouth from Canine Chronic Ulcerative Stomatitis (CCUS) and discovered periodontal disease causing bone loss, loose teeth, and severe pain.
To help him feel better, we performed full mouth extractions, and after just two weeks, Odin was already healing like a champ! Dr. Jodi even gifted him a new hedgehog to play with🦔!
Fast forward to his recent checkup, and Odin is back to his playful self, running around and enjoying life again🎉🐾!

🐾 Toothy Tails: Vet Dental Spotlight🐾

Paulie was diagnosed with Feline Stomatitis, a painful condition causing severe inflammation in the mouth. Dental X-rays showed mild to moderate periodontal disease alongside the stomatitis. After discussing treatment options, Dr. Liz performed full mouth extractions, which is the best way to manage this condition for long-term relief.

We're thrilled to report that Paulie is on the road to recovery! After his 6-week check-up, he’s doing much better at home.

Here’s what Paulie’s family had to say: "We were so impressed with Dr. Wood, the vet nurse, vet tech, and the entire staff. They were incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and professional. Dr. Wood took the time to explain Paulie’s condition and treatment plan. I appreciated the frequent updates and clear instructions for home care. Thank you for providing such excellent care for Paulie!"

🐾 Toothy Tails: Vet Dental Spotlight 🐾

Charlie came to us with periodontal disease and Canine Chronic Ulcerative Stomatitis (CCUS), which was causing painful oral ulcers, inflammation, and bad breath. After discussing options with his family, mouth extractions were done to help alleviate these symptoms and improve his quality of life.

Charlie also has epilepsy, so we took extra precautions by creating a customized anesthesia plan to ensure his safety throughout the procedure.

We’re happy to report that after his 3-week post-op recheck, Charlie is doing GREAT! 🎉

Here’s what Charlie’s mom had to say:
"Nichole was so helpful from our very first contact, answering all my questions and making me feel confident and comfortable about the procedure. The entire team was warm, kind, and understanding, and the environment was calming. Dr. Wood was thorough and compassionate in explaining everything, which made me feel sure we were making the right choice. I loved getting regular updates via text and phone about Charlie’s progress. Thank you all SO much for taking such wonderful care of my little old guy!"

Toothy Tails: Vet Dental Spotlight

Fred came to see us after he fractured a tooth (the crown of 208) that caused an infection and facial swelling. He’d been treated by his primary vet 10 days before his visit here. Radiographs showed the infection, likely from chewing on something too hard (like Nylabones, antlers, bones, yak chews, pig hooves, or even ice). Dr. Liz extracted the damaged tooth and another one that had some mobility issues. Now, Fred is feeling great and recovering well at home! 🐶❤️

A special shoutout to our amazing front desk team! Here's what Fred's mom had to say: “My initial call with the front desk woman was a godsend. She was so sweet! I called many other offices, but she was by far the most helpful and kind. I really appreciate her willingness to go above and beyond to get us an appointment. Thank you!”

Swipe to see Fred's x-ray transformation!
