Sorry we’ve been a little MIA lately! We’ve had our hands full with client’s dogs and raising our own puppies! We currently have one spot available for a November 4-6 week advanced obedience program 🤓 and we have a couple spots left for December!

“Education without application is just entertainment”

Even the very basic commands we teach our dogs just become party tricks if we aren’t working to show them how to apply them to useful situations. Teaching the commands isn’t really the hard part, it’s the application of that learned cue that takes practice and consistency.

We fully enjoyed our nose work seminar with Leah Gangelhoff this week! Phoebe and I are feeling more prepared and excited to get her NW2 this Spring with NACSW 🤗

Excited to see how far I can take this girl in this sport. She has some maturing to do that will help with her problem solving skills but overall her relentless love for the search makes her an absolute dream to work with. Suffice to say, we love our Labs over here at Collective Canine 🧡😍🧡

Heading into the week like 🏃💨

We’ve been a little M.I.A here but plan to get back to regular posts 🙌 We hope everyone had a great holiday season and stepped into the first week of the year bright eyed and bushy tailed! We look forward to knocking out some of the training goals we set for ourselves this year and all the dogs we’ll get to work with 🥰

“Get it”

Working on integrating some different terminal markers (a.k.a release cues) into our obedience.

The practical uses for having a variety of terminal markers are endless but most importantly, they seek to provide another layer of clarity for the dog. Whether I reward on me, toss a toy or send her to a remote reward on the ground; each can send a different message and puts value where I need it for the particular task at hand.

So many things to continue to clean up (including camera focus 🥴) but I’m always having fun learning and growing with this little dog.
