I (Maryelle St. Clare) was the Art Director for a segment on Full Frontal with Samantha Bee recently and handled all the furniture, lighting, greens, rugs, smalls, and window coverings. Here are a couple of screencaps from the show. Most pieces come from Oompalala, with a few from some other vendors in my building. They also used two pieces of my own art (I brought a variety of art and they chose mine without knowing it was mine). If you are doing set dec or props for your film or show, big or small, check us out.
Besides Oompalala's own stock, there is a taxidermy squirrel on the book shelf in the first picture from Absinthe Taxidermy Rentals & Sales. The leather Chesterfield chair is from Presentime Rentals. The framed illustration on the wall and a mixed media piece in the bookshelf are my own; plus all the set dec. The two ceramic hand-painted wine goblets on the coral shelf are by Lori Cox. Another beautiful 30x40" abstract piece by artist Andrew Dunkleberger was chosen for a segment, but the whole interview ended up being cut. Another gorgeous mosaic by Archer Applewhite Watkins was chosen for the last segment but also ended up being cut. But we are still so thrilled that art by two of the artists here was "in" at least for a while!
I got the call for this job at 7:00 PM, talked to the DP and producer at 10, and four room setups pulled, cleared, and ready to go onto the truck by 10 AM the next morning. We can usually accommodate last-minute emergencies.
We are proud to have so many creative people with us as part of the Abrams Creative Space artist community. Come visit!
