Hi folks!
With temperatures projected to reach 100⁰F today, this is a friendly reminder to keep your four-legged family out of the heat. Please keep an eye out for indicators of heat exhaustion and heatstroke. During peak hours, keep your dog's bathroom trips as brief as possible, and avoid any walking on pavement!
Please note that seeing one of the listed symptoms in isolation is not necessarily an indicator of heatstroke. However, If you are seeing multiple symptoms and your dog has been out in the heat, please call us immediately to consult!

We often hear - "Does my cat really need a check-up *every* year?"
Yes!
🐈 Annual check-ups are vital for your cat’s long-term health. Preventative care is more effective and affordable than treatment after a problem has developed.
🐈 When cats don’t feel well, they instinctively mask their symptoms (and their pain) for as long as possible. Your vet may notice something that you can’t see or feel during the exam! Annual exams are important to catch potentially life-threatening conditions early.
🐈 For many cat owners, the biggest hurdle is physically getting kitty to the clinic. We understand that cats don’t usually love coming to the vet, and we’re here to help. Contact us to discuss anxiety-reduction solutions to prepare for your cat’s appointment!
Dear Ansley Clients,
The DEA National Prescription Takeback Day is this Saturday, April 22nd, 10AM-2 PM. This national event also applies to prescription drugs for your animal companions. We encourage you to clean out your old medications and safely dispose of them this Saturday!
FYI: Ansley Animal Clinic is not a registered dropoff location for the program. You can find your nearest dropoff point at www.DEATakeBack.com .
Unused prescription drugs thrown in the trash can be retrieved, abused, and illegally sold. Unused drugs that are flushed down the toilet can potentially contaminate the local water supply. Proper disposal of unused drugs can save lives!
This is Maisie, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed for her appointment! Maisie's unique eyes are caused by a common mutation called heterochromia. Her left eye has no melanin (pigment), causing it to appear blue.
Does your pet have a unique marking or trait? Share a picture below in the comments!
We will be closed between 12:00pm-2:00pm today for continuing education.
Celebrating Sarah!!
Sarah has been a part of the Ansley team for 26 years! Sarah is currently our fantastic lead receptionist/front desk supervisor. Sarah has an outstanding memory for people and pets, which is no surprise – she is empathetic and sweet, forming meaningful connections with our clients that last for years. The clinic would not be the same without Sarah’s smile, wit, and warm demeanor. A round of applause for the irreplaceable Sarah! 👏👏
Congratulations to Norman for winning March pet of the month. Norman is an 11 year old domestic shorthair. His owner has shared with us that his favorite things are snuggles, the "red dot", and his person. 😊 Norman's dislikes are feet moving around under sheets and his sister Ramona. Norman came to his people as a kitten, showing up in their yard two days before his owner's birthday.
Norman is a retired therapy cat with Happy Tails, and used to make people smile as a profession. What an accomplished little guy!
You can enter your pet to win future drawings! Submission slips can be found in the lobby. If your pet is the winner, we will contact you and you will also be awarded a $25 credit on your clinic account.
We will be closed between 12:00pm-2:00pm today for continuining education and staff meetings.
February is National Pet Dental Health Month! 🦷 Though February is drawing to a close, your pet's dental health is something to take seriously 365 days a year. Just like we do, your pet needs a dental maintenance routine for a healthy mouth!
Here at Ansley, our top priority is the health and well-being of your pets. If your pet needs an office visit or a tech appointment, we encourage you to give us a call instead of requesting a time by email. Over the phone, we can better coordinate your schedule with our availability and ensure your pet gets the appropriate time and attention they deserve! If your pet is due for their annual exam, you can also book it in advance using the PetDesk app.
Happy Friday - and hope everyone has a great !
We're pleased to announce we are restarting our pet of the month drawing! 🎉
Congratulations to Sugar for winning February pet of the month. Sugar is ~4 year old domestic shorthair and is a rescued neighborhood stray. As her name suggests, she is a sweetie. Her owner has shared with us that she loves being petted and talked to, but dislikes being picked up. She prefers to decide where she wants to be!

Friendly Reminder -
As of January 2023, there have been multiple confirmed cases of canine influenza virus in Fulton and Dekalb county animal shelters. Out of an abundance of caution, some metro Atlanta boarding facilities may now require your dog to be vaccinated for canine influenza where they previously had not.
Be sure to call ahead before boarding your pet to determine if your boarding facility has changed their vaccine requirements! If your dog needs the canine influenza vaccine, we are happy to accommodate you. Call us at 404-873-1786 to schedule a vaccine appointment.
Please note - if your dog has not previously received the canine influenza vaccine, they will need to return for a booster 3 weeks after their initial dose.
We love dogs of all sizes, from teacup to extra-extra-large!
This gentle giant is Webster the Newfoundland, one of our newest patients.

Harvey has kindly let us use this video of him coughing to demonstrate what potential kennel cough may sound like! If your dog's cough is persistent and forceful, it could potentially be kennel cough. Some strains are not covered by the Bordetella vaccine, and not all coughs are due to kennel cough, so it is important to contact your veterinarian if you are noticing symptoms in your pup. Unfortunately kennel cough has been going around in Atlanta, so keep an ear out, especially if your dog goes to doggy daycare, dog parks, or boarding.
Ansley Animal Clinic is beginning to welcome clients indoors, but to a limited extent. Watch video for more info...
Starting today! We are welcoming clients into the clinic, to a limited extent. Each inside appointment is limited to one family member per visit. We are not allowing children inside at this time. Clients who are cautious or simply prefer to remain outside during the appointment will be accommodated, as we have during the COVID-19 pandemic. The entire Ansley staff is now vaccinated. Our lobby remains closed, but we will admit clients and their pets individually based on client preference.
